Robbinsville Chalet Rental Photos and Description

3 bedrooms, 2 full bathrooms, sleeps 6

If you don't want to drive forever to get to one place after another, this is your solution. You are right in the middle of everything you come to the mountains for. Our cabin is located between Robbinsville and Bryson City. It's secluded, easy to get to, has a beautiful view... a 10 out of 10.., and offers you close proximity to the national park, Appalachian Trail, and other marvels of nature. This area is great, because you do not have to drive forever to get to mountain highlights; it's all close by. The cabin is well-maintained, completely equipped, and we even have high speed internet to keep in touch with the rest of the world. There's a wood burning fireplace, great room, two comfy bedrooms and two complete baths. Outside, you'll find a fire pit, hammock, deck, and patio furnishings. It's fabulous to sit on the deck and take in the view or lounge in the hammock with a good book amid the pristine surroundings. There are lots of places nearby to hike, and about a mile away you'll find the Stecoah Center, where you will find music venues, art, dining, and more. You'll have everything you need; just bring your hiking boots, pj's and groceries.

This Part of the Smokies: If you like crowds, traffic, and lots of tourists milling about, don't come to the Nantahala National Forest in the Great Smoky Mountains. We aren't completely discovered yet, and we hope it stays that way for awhile. This area is full of what most people come to the mountains for. You can enjoy glorious vistas, wonderful hikes, great fishing, and lots of wildlife. There are country roads to explore, lots of old barns to photograph, and amazing scenery...so have your camera ready. There are two fabulous lakes...Fontana and Santeetlah. Imagine a pontoon boat on a pristine mountain lake. Imagine catching a rainbow trout or walleye for dinner. This area of the Smokies is amazing. It's truly what people come to the mountains for. Adventure is around the corner. whitewater rafting, tubing at Deep Creek, mountain biking at Tsali, challenging the Tail of the Dragon at Deals Gap, climbing the Appalachian Trail or visiting virgin a forest at Joyce Kilmer. Location? You have it!

Things You Can Do: You can hike right along the Appalachian Trail; it's a few minutes down the road. You can go whitewater rafting on the Nantahala River, Ocoee, Cheoah and more. You can ride a horse along the Fontana Lake region. You can visit the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, or tube at Deep Creek. There are waterfalls to view, and the Blue Ridge Parkway or the Cherohala Skyline are both close by. Enjoy the virgin forest at Joyce Kilmer. See Cades Cove or drive down the Meadow Road to peek in the windows of log cabins of old. The Great Smokies Railroad is right in Bryson City. Hop aboard! Try a little fly fishing in the numerous streams. Rent a pontoon boat and relax on Lake Santeetlah. Drive along mountains roads to find artist galleries, visit an auction right out of the fifties, or discover a hidden little out-of-the-way spot all your own for a picnic in paradise. Saturday night? Go for some mountain music at the Stecoah Center. What a great vacation! You'll come back!

Nearby: Great Smoky Mountains National Park, trout fishing, hiking, swimming, pontoon boat rental, Harrah's Casino, Golf, Tail of the Dragon, Deal's Gap, Fontana Dam, Stecoah Center, Blue Ridge Parkway, Waterfalls, Cherohala Skyline, Nantahala Outdoor Center, Zip Lines, High Altitudes, Horseback Riding, Restaurants, Snowbird Lodge, Great Smokies Railroad, Cade's Cove, Outlet Malls, Whitewater Rafting, Cave Exploration, Jet Boats, Mountain Climbing, Dollywood, Deep Creek, Etc.

Wonderful cabin!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I stayed here for a week for our honeymoon (actually in Aug 2014, I just now am writing my review!). We absolutely loved it and had a fantastic time hiking and exploring the area. So many things to do. The cabin was clean and comfortable, and we were able to get groceries nearby and make our own meals easily. Our interactions with Bill & Melanie were great, they are very easy to work with. We hope to be back again, thank you!

Beautiful mountain vista and perfect location

  • 5 of 5

Our family has really fallen in love with the GSM region and this trip down made us fall even deeper in love.

Upon our arrival we walked in and instantly felt at home. The home is beautifully decorated and clearly well taken care of. The views are breathtaking!

One of the best features was the "bible" of things to see and do around the area, so many things to do. We would not have found the little towns like Dillsboro, a town that IS the definition of southern hospitality and their quaint little shops, or known to use Paddle Inn for rafting where they pray with you for a safe journey before each trip, if Melanie had not provided such details, thank you!!

We cannot wait to come back again, we still have so much to see and do.

It was a blessing to be able to stay in your home.

Owner's Response: I am so glad that you enjoyed the cabin and the area. It's always wonderful when people have a great vacation. Many Americans do not get enough vacation time, and it's so important for our well being and happiness. Thank you for your kind review. It was a blessing to have you stay in my home. Melanie

Peaceful retreat in a stunning mountain setting!

  • 5 of 5

Anyone who's vacationed in the Great Smoky Mountains knows its charms: the vistas, the scenery, the tranquility, and the boundless opportunities for fun and adventure. Melanie's charming cabin provides the absolutely perfect home base for a GSM vacation, it's like the cherry on top of a really great ice cream sundae! The views from the home are beautiful, and the cabin itself is spacious, comfortable, and well-appointed. There was plenty of room for all of us, including two messy teenagers. The location of the cabin is ideal; we spent a lot of time in Bryson City, where we hiked, whitewater rafted, and just enjoyed hanging out in town. GSM National Park is an easy drive away, and we took full advantage of the great location for some great hikes and scenic drives. It was a restful and fun vacation, and Melanie was a pure joy to deal with through the entire process. What a sweet lady! We will definitely be return guests!

Owner's Response: Thank you so very much. It is important for me to know people who stay in my cabin are happy. I am glad you had fun and liked the cabin. This part of the Smokies is not as well known as the area around Gatlinburg, but it has more to do, less traffic, and more Mother Nature. I appreciate all you wonderful comments. Melanie

NOT AS ADVERTISED, FIND A BETTER PLACE TO STAY

  • 1 of 5

This cabin is NOT as advertised! By the owners own admission, she advertised one cabin and placed me in another, BUT this one was up a dangerous, curvy, narrow and extremely steep gravel road with an almost impossible driveway you have to navigate to get in. The deck and views from this 2nd cabin are 90% blocked by trees. The interior is has a similar decor, but different furniture, but the cabin pictured is NOT the cabin you get.

The owner was very uncommunicative, she did not answer my original email and it took me 3 separate emails to finally get the address from her AFTER I made my payment. The owner claims there were so many people wanting this cabin that she required me to overnight a second set of checks as she would not wait for my original checks to arrive, which did so on the same day after I mailed duplicates. Meanwhile, there was NO record of any bookings on the site.

The kitchen was overrun with hundreds of tiny ants, and the bathroom with large black ants, which we battled constantly. The deck was filthy, the tables and chairs were full of mold, the birdhouse in the corner peeling and falling apart and the BBQ so crusted it was unusable.

In the bathrooms, the towels were ragged, there were no bath mats, no soap, no shampoo or any other toiletries. The kitchen had no garbage bags, no paper towels, no soup bowls, no spices (even salt) and NO LIGHT. This is a very dark cabin, absolutely no sunlight gets inside (it’s just surrounded by trees) and no bulb is above 40 watts in the entire cabin.

Each day something else popped up that just got us so frustrated; missing drawer knobs, dryer door that can’t be opened all the way, a shower head that just sends out a mist, etc. And finally the 100-pound tube TV gets almost NO programming (not even the basic 3 channels) and went out completely whenever it rained.

When I requested compensation for placing us in a different cabin she just used profanities against me in her emails and said she would not refund me a cent and just told me to go to hell.

FIND A BETTER PLACE TO STAY, this one is stuck in the 60's and needs a lot of work. If you don’t have an SUV or larger, you may not even make it up the very steep hill to get there in the first place! The owners attitude is just downright nasty and foul-mouthed and extremely unprofessional. To date, she has not even answered my complaint and simply disregards my emails.

Owner's Response: Sir: You gave me the choice of sending you over two hundred dollars or receiving a bad review. I wonder if this has worked for you in the past. I am old enough to know that no matter how hard one tries, it is impossible to satisfy everyone. It is hard for me to accept the fact that someone would actually try to blackmail me, but you did!

The Perfect Place

  • 5 of 5

Our family thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Mountain Vista. You will find everything you need, including a magical view from the deck. The only problem was our stay was too short. Melanie has compiled an amazing book of nearby activities that would keep you busy for a month or longer. Awesome vacation!

Owner's Response: Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! I really get happy when people enjoy my cabin and this gorgeous area. Frankly, it is the best kept secret in the mountains. While hoards of people and bumper to bumper traffic is found in Gatlinburg and Cherokee, here, it's just a few of us lucky people and Mother Nature. Melanie

Owner's Response: Thanks! I am so happy you are coming back. Lots of people do because of the location. I do not know how many people decide to go to the Smokies and end up in Pigeon Forge or Gatlinberg with traffic, silly shows, and too many people. To me, the mountains should be enough - Mother Nature at her best and more things to see and do than you have time for. Thanks for your review!!!! Melanie
