About the property

15th Century Manor & Lake

Dating back to the 15th Century and steeped in history, the Manoir, Gites, Lake, and Woodland originally belonged to the Chateau owned by Olivier de la Motte, Lord of Plumaudan.

Today we offer two well equipped 3 bedroomed self-catering holiday cottages, which have been tastefully and sympathetically restored to a high standard from the original granite barns attached to the manor house. Each gite has its' own particular character and charm, with many of the original oak beams and stonework features retained throughout. Both have all modern conveniences, including: dishwasher and washing machine, flat-screen TV with UK Freesat & French TV, DVD, Bluetooth audio system, free Wi-Fi, BBQ and individual outdoor dining areas.

Outside you will find a 10x5 meter heated swimming pool (available May to end September) with fitted telescopic enclosure for inclement weather, a secure children's play area, outdoor games, and nearly seven acres of garden, grounds, fishing lake and woodland for you to explore and enjoy.

The indoor games room features an 8' pool table and is the perfect place to catch up over a glass of local cider or wine.

About Jo Blackman

We bought this property in 2015, already a successful gites business for over 10 years. We knew this was an ideal holiday location, having holidayed in France and here many times ourselves. Medieval Dinan, good food, uncrowded roads, friendly locals, picturesque towns and villages, the beautiful coastline and beaches – who could ask for anything more. I am a qualified Body Control Pilates teacher, having run my own classes successfully in Kent for several years - so will be looking to add this to our repertoire at some point in the future.

Why Jo Blackman chose Plumaudan

We knew this was an ideal holiday location, having holidayed here many times ourselves. We are on the outskirts of a small village, Plumaudan, with its own boulangerie, tabac and mini market. Close to medieval Dinan with its many shops, restaurants and leisure activites. Airports at Dinard and Rennes and, our nearest port, the picturesque town of St Malo, all around 30 minutes away. It is a great place for walking, cycling and fishing and just a short drive away there are unspoilt sandy beaches and rocky coves to suit everyone.

What a great place to stay. On site facilities are so good, not just for children either.

  • 5 of 5

The Gites are located less than 10 minutes from Dinan. 30 minutes from Dinard. Both great places to spend a day or two. Want a rest day? Stay on site, the facilities are great for adults and children.

We had a fantastic week. My eldest son enjoys fishing. He had a great three days fishing the lake. Thanks Nick, it made his holiday. 35 Carp to 20lb, average about 12lb. My sons daughter really enjoyed the pool and children’s play area. Grandad (me) was exhausted keeping her amused. The ladies enjoyed sunbathing and relaxing. Nick & Jo were great hosts making a lot of effort to make sure there guests enjoy their stay.

Lovely Place

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful time at La Vallee .Jo & Nick were extremely hospitable & friendly making us feel very welcome. We stayed in Le Puits & the gite was extremely well appointed with everything you could need for a very comfortable stay. The grounds are well kept, with a lake, woods, courtyard gravelled patio areas and a new pool area with terracing, seating & sun loungers. The pool was heated with a removable cover which meant whatever the weather we could use the pool. There was also a well stocked games room which the children loved & lots of outdoor games equipment too. The location is perfect with Dinan, Dinard, St Malo & some very lovely beaches only 1/2 hours drive away. All in all we had a great time & would definitely recommend this property for a holiday in beautiful Brittany.

Beautiful gites, perfect hosts!

  • 5 of 5

We are a family of five from Sweden who really enjoyed our week at Gites de la Vallee! The gites are beautiful, so is the garden, buildings and surroundings. The pool area is perfect for us, and so is the location, close to beautiful cities and historic sites. The closest town, Dinan, was a really nice surprise with it´s medevial city-center, the river and lots of restaurants. Our hosts were very kind and we got the best service. We are impressed that there are so much to do at the estate; dart, table-tennis, games, bicykles to borrow, books, movies, toys for the pool, everything one could wish for! We would love to come again and will absolutely recommend Gites de la Vallee!

Dinan is located in the Cote d'Armor region of Brittany and is within easy access of the ferry port of the Corsair City of St Malo, with it’s frequent crossings to and from the South Coast of England and the Channel Islands. Dinard and Rennes are our closest airports and are also easily accessible.

Dinan is an extremely attractive medieval walled town and is, quite rightly, one of Brittany's Towns of Artistic and Architectural Interest (Ville d'Art et d'Histoire). It is about 30 minutes drive to the Brittany capital, Rennes, another charming medieval city, which also hosts the second largest market in France.

Dinard is a short drive away and to its west, along the northern shore of Brittany, begins the amazing coastline of the Cote d'Emeraude with it’s magnificent cliffs and fabulous beaches.

There are spectacular walks and far reaching sandy beaches. Numerous small islands are to be seen off the coast with some that can be discovered at low tide. Charming fishing ports abound with plentiful oyster and mussel beds. There are numerous good eateries to satisfy your culinary palette.

Plenty of water sports can be pursued locally, on rivers, inland lakes & reservoirs or by the sea. These include canoeing, kayaking, rowing, sailing, surfing, windsurfing, sand karting, jet skiing, water skiing, snorkelling, scuba diving.

Discover beautiful and ancient forests and picturesque lakes to walk, cycle, horse ride, pony trek or fish. There are also cycle routes that are on canal towpaths or on old railway lines that have been converted for recreational use.

There are several good golf courses in the region.

Other activities in easy reach: Bowling, Cinemas, Theatre, Tennis, Swimming (indoor and Outdoor pool), Outlet shopping
