About christine Schousboe
My husband and I live in an apartment in the heart of the Twin Cities. The Bon Aire is our spiritual refuge away from the noise and crowding of city life.
christine Schousboe purchased this House in 2002
Why christine Schousboe chose Palmers
I wasn't looking for a vacation home, but I ran across it online and fell in love with it. Some day we will retire to the Bon Aire. There is nothing else like the North Shore and Lake Superior.
What makes this House unique
The home is larger than most would predict with almost 1700 sq ft. This allows for privacy and room to spread out. A new remodel upstairs opens this area to downstairs renters for an additional fee.

Perfect House with Perfect View
This home was great for our use. Having two of the couples who stayed in the house having handicap issues, having all the living spaces on one level was great. I stayed in the upper suite which was great for what I needed which was basically a sleeping area. The only recommendation I would make is to maybe work in a small ramp to the porch and house entry and a hand-held shower sprayer for anyone else considering this property and have handicap concerns.
The view of Lake Superior was perfect every morning and evening. We could sit on the porch, or in the eat-in kitchen area on windy days, and watch the fishing boats and cargo ships go by as well as frequent kayaks. It was a very serene and peaceful area and even the deer came to visit some days.
I would recommend this home for anyone looking for a peaceful retreat right on Lake Superior.
The Best Place On the
What a beautiful spot! We love to cook and Bon Aire makes it easy with a well outfitted kitchen. We will be back next summer for our fifth visit.
Family vacay for Grandma’s Marathon
Our stay at Bon aire was wonderful! The house and amenities far exceeded our expectations. The house was clean and comfy and the location was great! We were coming up so my husband could run in Grandma’s marathon. He ended up being injured, so we enjoyed cheering on all the runners from mile 7 right outside the cabin! We hope to return next year!
Our second great stay !
We spent the past week at this lovely rental on the North Shore. This is our second time here and we loved it again. The house is very comfortable, well-stocked and clean. The location is perfect and the views are breath taking and serene. We were here last time in pretty bad weather (October 2018) and this time the weather was picture perfect. The weather did not stop us last time as there is so much to do in the area plus just being at the house is very nice. This trip, we spent time from Jay Cooke Park (south of Duluth in Carlton) to Grand Portage (Canadian Border). The grounds around the house are very nice, there are plenty of places to sit and relax, a gazebo in the front yard, a nice deck with awning (if needed), steps down to the lake, etc. The house is very roomy, the master bedroom is very comfortable (only used one bedroom), the kitchen is well stocked (if you want to cook!) We got to watch ore ships passing by the house and best was watching the lake otters swimming, fishing and playing in the water and the rocks. Sunrises are beautiful.
We already want to be back and we just got home ! The owner, Chris, is very easy to work with and a very nice person. Would stay again if we get the chance next year.
Thank you Suzanne for your thoughtful and lovely review. I am so glad you were able to return this year and see the area without the wind and the rain. I admire your adventurous spirits!!!
Best trip of the year!!
There is only one word to describe our trip...marvelous!
I look forward to spending time here every year and this year we celebrated my Dad’s 84th birthday which is a blessing in itself. Thank you again for sharing your home with my family!
Love this cozy place with beautiful views of the lake.
Watch sun rises and sun sets.
