Why Paul Hudson chose Rockport

We owned a smaller house in Rockport since 1979 and have always loved the atmosphere of the town. Key Allegro is the most vibrant community in Rockport and this house in particular is stunningly beautiful and comfortable – open and airy – it just has a wonderful feel. It was way above our price range, but once we saw it, we couldn’t live without it!

Bayfront Home and Private Fishing Pier

  • 5 of 5

This house was very spacious and nice. My family stayed there for a week. The kids had such a good time fishing off the back dock. We seen lots of Jellyfish and caught numerous fish. The bigger kids enjoyed the fishing pier. We caught numerous fish and two stingrays. We even had several dolphins come up to the fishing pier. The beach in Rockport was very nice and not crowded at all. We even went to Port Aransas for a day at the beach. The kids really enjoyed the ferry ride over and back. The house is in a very nice neighborhood. The kids took their bikes and rode up and down the street. We had such a good time and want to return again next summer.

We had a great time. I brought my 3 children, their spouses and my 8 grandchildren. Great time fishing, grilling, and just sitting outside watching the water and visiting. I moved away from Rockport 10 years ago so it really brought memories. I could see my old home from this property!! We were without electricity for 12 hours one day which was very uncomfortable, but this was AEP's fault. Plenty of space for everyone to move around in at all times. Thank you for a great spring break.

Spacious house, perfect for a relaxing stay!

  • 5 of 5

We have stayed at this beautiful home for 3 years in a row and just absolutely love it. It's incredibly spacious and everywhere you look there is somewhere to relax and make the most out of your vacation.

In the morning it was really nice to drink a cup of coffee out on the back porch to take in the breeze and the view. Even for those who choose to stay inside to drink their coffee you will still enjoy the same great view thanks to the large windows surrounding the front and back of the house. Another favorite morning ritual of mine was to take our 5 yr old and twin 2 yr olds for a stroll down the street in front of the house, taking in the perfect breeze that being right on the bay offers. Every walk we witnessed at least one crane fishing for breakfast. On the very last morning one of my daughters and I were especially lucky and spotted a porpoise swimming in the bay right in front of the house. We were literally standing in the driveway. It was amazing!

The house is really spacious, even allowing daytime naps and study breaks upstairs and in the master bedroom downstairs in the midst of 3 two year olds and a 5 yr old wreaking havoc through the main living areas. We also found the kid-friendly bunk-bed room upstairs to be a great place for the kids to wind down and relax with a cartoon break after a long day at the beach. Another big positive for us was that each bedroom has its own private bathroom which is huge for large, multi-family groups.

This house is a prime location for easy access to the grocery store, Walmart, seafood restaurants and most importantly, Rockport State Beach. Rockport State Beach is a great beach for all families but especially those with small children. There are playscapes, shaded beach huts, restrooms, and plenty of room for fun in the sand and water. We especially appreciated the calm waters, allowing even our youngest family members to enjoy swimming in the bay.

Looking forward to our next stay here!

Another Perfect Family Getaway!

  • 5 of 5

This house is perfect for a relaxing family getaway. We were there for 6 nights in July. This is our second family vacation here in the last few years and since the last time, our family has grown. However, we definitely did not outgrow this house. This time around we had 14 people (10 adults and 4 kids) and it never felt crowded. It has four private bedrooms, each with a full bath, which gives everyone the privacy they need (when needed). There is also a loft style bedroom with two bunk beds and trundles that is perfect for kids.

The house has endless natural light wherever you go giving it a great coastal feel. The open areas are very spacious and comfortable. The kitchen is well stocked with everything you’ll need to prepare whatever meals you want. We utilized it thoroughly during our stay and there never was a time we didn’t have what we needed. The standalone ice machine was a very nice touch. No matter how hard we tried, we never ran out of ice.

The views are amazing from the front and back. From the front, you look straight out into the bay with no obstructions. The house has a private pier with benches at the end we utilized numerous times to watch the sunset. There is also an outdoor sitting area right outside the living room which was perfect for enjoying morning coffee. It is well shaded which is key during hot Texas summers. Because there are no obstructions between the bay and the house, there is a constant ocean breeze. I bring this up because that is not the case in the interior streets. We took numerous walks with the kids and that breeze is nonexistent once you trail off the private drive into the interior streets.

The back deck is great for fishing and as others have noted, you don’t have to try hard to get a bite which is great for all. You can even catch crab if you dare. There is an underwater deck light that you can use to watch fish at night.

We made many trips to the public Rockport beach which was very nice. If you are like me, you probably have reservations of calling any Texas beach “nice”. This is the only exception I’ve encountered. It is well maintained and cleaned daily. There was no seaweed or trash to speak of. The ocean bottom is very soft, stays shallow for a long way, and the waves are very calm which makes it a perfect beach for children. We had 14 to 18 month olds and a four year old and they all had a great time. Fun for all ages!

We can’t wait to come back!

WONDERFUL HOME FOR A FAMILY GATHERING

  • 5 of 5

We had the pleasure of staying at this lovely Rockport home in April 2014. We took a group of young ladies to celebrate my daughter’s 21st birthday – a total of 12. Needless to say, the home was a huge hit with all of us. The home is so spacious - so much room for everyone to spread out and have their own fun or for everyone to hang out together telling stories or watching scary movies at night in the large living area. All of the rooms were spacious and comfortable. The kitchen was ample and supplied everything needed to cook meals when we decided to eat in and the ice maker was a huge plus in my book. Not only is this home beautifully decorated, it also offers spectacular views of the Gulf with its’ own private pier to fish from if you wish to do so. We also enjoyed the town of Rockport and the beach park we visited. We are hoping to come back and visit very soon!

Fantastic!

  • 5 of 5

We had never been to Rockport and we decided to go all out and stay at the nicest place we could find and bring everyone. I brought my two boys and 4-6 other friends also drove down at different times over our 3 days. The place is great! Everything was beautiful and in wonderful condition. It is perfectly located. We were even given access to paddle boats and kayaks. Like others have mentioned (and I did not really count on), we actually saw some dolphins swim up to within 2 feet of the back porch. Really amazing!

The fishing was great. My little guy caught endless perch and smaller trout from the back porch (almost became a problem keeping up with helping him to bait and throw back all of his catches). I suspect the fish get bigger back there when the weather is not so darn hot. He could not have been more thrilled. The fishing from the pier for the big guys was also fun although we had less luck.

(As sort of a side note) I suggest taking a Bay fishing tour the first day instead of waiting until the last day like we did; it would have been good to have brushed up on some of those tips earlier on.

Great place! Thanks!

Owner's Response: I'm glad to hear that your family had such a great time and that you caught so many fish! Catching so many fish that it's almost a bother is indeed a good problem to have! I agree that it's always a good idea to take your guided fishing trip early in your stay, not only so you can apply those techniques while fishing in the bay in front of the house (and canal behind the house), but also so that you can enjoy eating the fish during your stay. We look forward to having your family stay with us again sometime.
