What people often don't realize is that October, is one of the most favorable times to visit. While all seasons offer something, October is my favorite month for the warmth of the weather, the slow down of the season (re:less crowds) and the sun that shines warm before the storms of winter. It's a well kept secret, (oops.)
* Marigold Cottage can also be rented in combination with Marigold House (VRBO # 704846), a larger 2 bedroom vacation home on the same property, in order to accommodate up to 6 guests total.
I have lived in Mendocino since the mid-90's. I took an eight year hiatus only to return. Its special here, beautiful, and soothes the soul. Come enjoy the area and all it has to offer, it'll be a trip you'll remember and cherish....so come often.
Marigold Cottage is located in the Historic Village of Mendocino. If you want to really feel the quaint village, an authentic walking expereince with all its intricancies, this home is for you.
Once you park your car, you will not need it to reach all areas of the village; restaurants, grocery stores, art galleries, fine shopping, the beach and headlands. You will need around 5 minutes and comfortable shoes. You can walk in the fresh ocean air of the beautiful coast you just drove to.
Marigold Cottage was the perfect choice for my two-month stay in Mendocino. It is bright, airy and equipped with everything I needed to be comfortable during a longer visit. The gas stove adds to the cozy atmosphere and takes the chill off a cooler day. I especially enjoyed the beautiful gardens. The cottage is convenient to everything, directly across the street from the Mendocino Art Center and a couple blocks to shopping, restaurants, coffee shops, Frankie's ice cream, and the ocean cliff trails in Headlands State Park. I also enjoyed the nature hikes along Big River. Thank you for sharing Marigold Cottage with me.
My girlfriend and I stayed in Mendocino for a long weekend and we loved the town and this property. It was perfect for the two of us, great location, nice kitchen and room.
Zelda was also a great host. She provided us with good suggestions of things to do and when our hot water heater went out because of a storm, she had it fixed in <15 mins after we messaged her - truly great service!
I would highly recommend this property for your next stay in Mendo!
We spent three nights in a beautiful somewhat large one room house right across the street from the Mendocino Art Center! It was a mild rainy few days and we walked everywhere the whole time, on the coastal walks and all. Most of all, it was easy access with great information from Zelda who turned around and mailed us an item we left in the house! We got the quiet time and walks we wanted to bring the New Year in. Loved the kitchen, the whole package. We think it was the best place out of a dozen we have stayed at in town.
We are hosts in Carmel so have genuine appreciation for how well managed this cottage is. Zelda was so attentive and prompt, a truly caring person who provided the extra items we asked for (additional towels and a full coffee maker for our week long stay).
Comfy bed. Excellent Wifi. Fully functional kitchen. TV if you want it. Very quiet. Lovely deck. Good linens - all was immaculate. The setting is ideal for walking anywhere in town or along the beach trails. Mendocino still feels like Carmel did fifty years ago; a step back in time. Just wonderful.
Nice Cottage, Right in the middle of everything, Clean, A few things to know?? Bring Your Coffee Pot, There's Not 1 you'll need your own bathroom supplies soap for Body,Hair & (TP) they only supply 1 roll for 3 days 2 people, Other Then That It Was Very Nice
My wife and I stayed for 8 nights. We really enjoyed ourselves. The space is very conformable and the location could not be better. Zelda is an amazing host! The kitchen is missing a few things (drip coffee maker and a microwave). There is a cast Iron skillet though for cast iron fans! We read previous reviews and bought a coffee maker with us, so it was no big deal. We also bought a salad bowl and salad tongs that we left behind for others to enjoy. The space was perfect for the two of us, it was clean and very quiet. We will definitely be back!
