This was a wonderful cottage for a stay in the Highlands. Beautiful setting, wonderful accommodations and welcoming hosts. Jon and Diana were very responsive, giving directions to the cottage, welcoming with wonderful treats and thinking is such special touches. Loved watching all the wildlife and the walks around the cottage. Only 15 minutes from Edinburgh so east to go in to the city but feels like you are mikes away. Had the wood stove ready for a fire. Everything was immaculate. Would definitely stay again.
Many thanks for your review and we are so pleased you enjoyed your stay at Tullochclury. Just for future guests and clarification we are 15 minutes from the city of Inverness.
We would love to see you all again. Best wishes.
Amazing cottage and hosts, country living at its best
This lovely cottage just felt like a home away from home and was a fantastic base to come back to every evening after days of sightseeing. It is cosy, comfortable and very well equipped to welcome a family; it shows that the owners have paid close attention to details.
The pictures don't give the house justice. The cottage is bright, airy and flooded with light on sunny days, but equally charming on rainy days as we all gathered around the fireplace. One can't get tired of watching the spectacle of the squirrels and birds coming to feed in the garden.
The location is gorgeous, secluded but not isolated, with beautiful trails just at your doorstep and easy access to Inverness and local attractions.
Diane and Jon are amazing hosts, helpful, responsive and with a sense of hospitality that warms the heart. It was our first time in Scotland and four days felt too short, we will return to this cottage whenever we can.
Our Fabulous Highland Holiday
Arriving at Tullochclury we were greeted by wonderful Jon who kindly explained the ins-and-outs of the property to us (heating, Wi-Fi, the all important nuts for feeding the amazing wildlife in the back garden!).
The property is spotless, wonderfully furnished and of a very good size. We thoroughly enjoyed curling up on the sofa after having lit the wood burner, and watching the red squirrels, chaffinches & pheasants in the rear garden. The house is in the perfect location, just far enough away from the A9 to enjoy that feeling of isolation but just close enough to enable easy access to all the amazing things you can enjoy in the area. We thoroughly recommend Urquhart's Restaurant in Inverness; a walk around Loch an Eilein; dinner at Muckrach Country House Hotel (as recommended by Jon, so a big thank you Jon!); river tubing with the Rothiemurchus guys and Chanonry Point for some dolphin watching. There's so much to do in the area it's crazy. We'd like to return and enjoy a distillery tour, the Strathspey steam railway, Fort George & kayaking on Loch Morlich for a start.
Jon & Di are both wonderful, warm & caring hosts who furnished us with information about the many different activities available in the area, and who were always very helpful with any queries we had (including where the local Osprey might appear at nearby Loch Moy... and we saw one!).
Ace holiday. Thank you Jon and Di. :)
Jon and Diane were amazing nothing was too much trouble the grounds were beautiful the animals
The area was quiet stunning views by loch moy which was a 5 minute walk ,the children were children again, the cows were funny too ,.the welcoming gifts were wonderful,Jon and Diane done anything necessary too make our stay great,I would definitely recommend staying here if you wanted a quiet but wonderful place too stay ,I will definitely come back.
We loved our stay at Jon & Di’s house. It was absolutely immaculate! They had stocked the house with everything you could possibly need. The location was perfect to explore the surrounding areas, yet get away to absolute peace & quiet. Loved being able to walk out the door and go on a nice hike. The backyard with the squirrels, birds, pheasants & bunnies was like a scene out of a Disney movie. We absolutely loved it! Thank you Jon & Di for letting us stay in your lovely home & thanks also for the yummy welcome gifts!!
Off the beaten track but worth the detour
One of our family's favourite places we've stayed. The house is certainly off the beaten track - close to 1km to the nearest house, but it is beautiful. Jon and Di are wonderful hosts - super helpful in all respects - for local walks to shopping and more touristy things. The house is immaculate and like being in your own house. It has all the amenities. Great nature walks right from the from door. Would definitely stay here again.
