Looking for a restful, quiet place to unwind? Look no further! This Cottage, overlooking the swaying marsh grass and tidal river, is just where you need to rejuvenate. When you want serenity and solitude and a chance to reconnect with your family, this is just the place. Our adorable river cottage offers breathtaking sunrises and great boating.. This Cottage is located on the Jericho River, a tidal saltwater river not far from the Intercostal Waterway and St. Catherine's Sound, just south of Richmond Hill, GA., a suburb of Savannah, approximately 10 miles from I-95, Exit 87.
Boat, and ski in the river or bring your paddle boards and jet ski. Catch fish or blue crabs for your dinner off the dock. Take a break on the sand bar at low tide. Enjoy some time without the hassles of ringing phones and annoying traffic. Commune with Georgia's natural beauty - moss-dripping oaks, palm trees swaying in the cool breeze, and water and marsh views that will remind you of simpler times.
We stayed in Richmond Hill over the 5th to 9th November.
The property was immaculately clean when we arrived; the kitchen is well equipped with good quality pots, pans, Pyrex dishes and other utensils, as well as washing and drying machines. The property is light and airy with a solid wood floor which is very easy to keep clean and the large floor to ceiling glass doors open out onto the deck which has a great view of the river.
The location is great as it is on the outer bend of the river and when the tide is out the herons and egrets use the exposed sand bars for fishing. Downstairs there is a shower facility useful for cleaning off any sand before going into the main house.
There is a deck facing the river which has a great view which is perfect for sitting out with a drink watching the sun go down.
Savannah is about a 30 minute drive away and we went over to take a trolley bus ride and visit the railroad museum. Both excursions are worth taking as you get to see a lot of Savannah from the trolley tour and at the museum you can also take part, on the American side, in the re-enactment of the battle of Savannah!
We had a great time at this property and would return to see more of Savannah and the surrounding environment.
We stayed here for the first part of our honeymoon. We loved it!! The house was very clean & had all the amenities we needed. Quiet & hidden away in a great location. Beautiful view from the deck!! And we watched dolphins swim by a few times. It was close to Tybee Island & Savannah that we were able to do both. We can't wait to come back with the kids!!
This was a beautiful property with a beautiful view. So relaxing and in the middle of nowhere. Sitting outside watching the wildlife and the Ogeechee tide come in and out was exactly the relaxation we were after. Google maps says restaurants are 6 or 7 miles, but to actually get to them is 20-30 minutes. We found that ideal. The local history is amazing, and we highly recommend going to Big A's Cast Iron Cafe for local dining!! Dealing with Peggi from rental through return of the deposit was pleasant and smooth in every way. We expect to rent this property again in the future.
We loved the cute cottage and the view was perfect. It was quite and relaxing. The owners were great to work with.
This is a lovely house with a gorgeous view. The owner was very accommodating and we hope to be back. It is not a far drive to many local attractions. We enjoyed a day trip to Sapelo and another to Savannah (one of our favorite towns). I suggest buying your veggies from the nice man who has a stand on the coastal hwy not far from the house. Everyone we interacted with were very kind and hospitable. Hope to make it a regular destination. Thanks for everything!
Great place for a short vacation for a small family like ours. Great yard area for the (small) dog to run around and a great dock to watch the wildlife. It's small, but plenty of room for four people, and it has everything you would need for a longer stay. I don't think there were any fish around this early in the year, but there were plenty of birds around eating something. The water at the dock is plenty deep, but there seem to be some sand bars in that area of the creek. Recommend smaller boats. The owners were very helpful with questions about the house, nearby facilities and attractions.
