This beautiful, very private apartment retreat, with separate outside entrance, is located on the walkout level of our hillside home on a quiet, less traveled, canopied lane in Hot Springs Village. It is just the place to relax and enjoy the wonders of nature that abound here! Take the “wooden walkway” at forest's edge, to this special place, where the sounds of the woods and stream below offer serenity and peace for your special vacation. The apartment features a lovely Arkansas room, overlooking the mountain stream below; living area with adjacent efficiency kitchen and soft, comfortable places for reading and relaxing. The king sized bedroom and bath are spacious and well appointed. The covered lanai, off both bedroom and Arkansas room, provide for comfortable and private outdoor living, year around. There is a lower deck, closer to streamside, accessible by forest path and wooden steps, set into the hillside. If you’re surefooted and are up for the trek, this deck is a wonderful place to really “feel” the forest, listen to the birds and watch the wildlife all around. You might even get a glimpse of a deer family frolicking in the stream or see a beautiful red fox! Forest Glen apartment is beautifully furnished with textiles and collectibles obtained from our visits to Thailand, Asia and Indonesia, along with original art and prints collected over many years. The location is ideal for those wanting easy access to all Village amenities, including golf courses, fitness center, trail systems, tennis center and 12 beautiful lakes! Mano Way is a great place to ride a bike or take a “walk with nature” as it loops around thru the forest and back to your starting point…. exactly a mile in length. Along the way you may see deer, a red-tailed hawk, a turtle or two and lots of wildflowers. You may hear an owl and much conversation among birds in the canopy above. We are "dog friendly" and we will warmly welcome your canine travel companion, providing he/she has good house manners. A small pet fee is required. Stay for a couple of days or more…. You’ll be glad you came!
If you will be traveling with friends, be sure to check out our Sunny Oaks Casita studio (VRBO property #254539), another wonderful oasis in the forest that is easily accessible from Forest Glen, yet with it's own covered outdoor living and private entrance, on the opposite side of the house from the Lanai apartment. The Casita is a one bedroom studio apartment featuring queen bed; an efficiency kitchen; comfortable sitting area and 3/4 bath. Furnishings in Sunny Oaks are Southwest/South American in design. When joined, the two apts. will comfortably accommodate four people. In addition, we have Writer's Den (VRBO property #1051610), a separate guest bedroom suite on the main level of the house. It can accommodate one or two adults traveling with guests staying in Sunny Oaks and/or Forest Glen.
Hot Springs Village is America's largest gated community and is a wonderful place to vacation or live, with spectacular scenery, moderate climate, warm and friendly people, relaxed and casual lifestyle and some of the best golf, boating and recreational opportunities you’ll find anywhere! Hot Springs Village and neighboring Hot Springs (just 20 minutes away!), also offer great restaurants, live music/concerts, art galleries and events, botanical gardens, horse racing at Oaklawn, family fun at Magic Springs and Crystal Falls and lots of shopping!
Lake Ouachita State Park and Marina is just 20 minutes from the Village West Gate. The lake, dubbed “Arkansas’ Ocean”, is 50 miles long with over 200 islands for picnicing and relaxing…….. it is a vacation paradise for those who love boating and fishing, kayaking and scuba diving.
In a nutshell... the Village and surrounding area is “the whole package”, a great vacation destination or lifestyle choice for retirees or an entire family!

Greetings from Jim and Jill Anderson and Hot Springs Village! Jill is a former real estate broker and Jim has been a general contractor for 30 years, building everything from golf resorts to custom homes in PA, CO and AR. During the 90's in Durango, CO, we owned and operated Country Sunshine Bed and Breakfast. We miss many things about Colorado... including the awesome beauty, but we don't miss the cold, the snow and the high prices!
Jill Anderson purchased this apartment in 2007
Today we are happily living the good life in Hot Springs Village. We decided on the Village after much on-line and in-person research. We wanted a beautiful spot, with low cost of living and lots of amenities that would be close to our children in Mississippi and Texas. We purchased our Troza Lane townhome in 2006 and lived in it while we built our new home here. Later, we decided to keep the townhome and make it available to friends and family who visit and occasional paying guests. We have had so many requests for bookings that we decided in 2008 to add our guest apartments, here at the house, to give us more vacation rental options. So, now we have something for everyone and since we love hosting people who come to the Village to explore, play and enjoy themselves, we are truly in our element…..it’s almost like the B&B, but without the Breakfast!
We furnish our units with comfortable furniture and quality bedding. They are all nicely decorated with things we love….a few “family' antiques, original art and momentos we have picked up on our many travels. We are dog friendly, knowing that since our golden Sadie and our border collie, Mac, are part of our family, your canine companions must be too! We look forward to making one of our guest spaces your “home away from home”!
Jill and Jim: Randy and I had a wonderful time here in your lovely apartment. We loved everything about it from the homey feel, to the luxurious king size bed, to the babbling brook and the awesome deck and view - just to name a few. Thank you for everything and you can bet that we'll be back!
As you can see the Forest Glen Lanai apartment is an apartment building in the basement of the owners' home. It is a lovely apartment and you barely know anyone else is there.
The walkway to the entrance is lit at night by rope lighting and motion sensor lights in the trees. That is a really nice touch. Outside of the entrance to the apartment is a private deck for the apartment that looks out on the woods and the creek and has comfortable deck furniture on it.
As you enter the apartment you enter into the bedroom which has a very nice king size bed in the closet there is a full bath attached. Also in the apartment is a dropleaf table by a large sliding glass door so you can look at on the scenery in the back. In the family room area there are two very nice and comfortable recliners and a flat screen television.
Along one wall is a kitchen. It is comprised of a sink several cabinets, a dishwasher and a microwave and a small refrigerator. The kitchen is stocked with many of the condiments and has nice dishes and utensils..
The apartment is so cozy and nice. It is decorated with items the owners bought as they traveled the world.
We frequently use vacation rentals and this is absolutely one of our favorites - it is so quaint. We did not see the owners until we were ready to leave and then we had the opportunity to meet Jan. We do not know when will be in Hot Springs again but when we are we will be renting this rental. If you do happen to rent this be sure to check out some of the small privately owned restaurants in the area. The food is so good and the peopke are so nice.
I would recommend the Forest Glen Apartment. The location is a dream. It is outside of Hot Springs, but don't let this be a deciding factor. The drive is beautiful, and how nice to return to this peaceful place after a day in town. The apartment was spotless with everything we needed. We cooked some nights and had everything from dishes to an electric skillet. Every detail was taken care of, and the bed was divine. So comfortable. And WOW...the view was breathtaking. This is the perfect spot to renew from life. We went for a weekend, but hope to return for a week. I can't say enough about this rental. It went above and beyond what we expected.
My husband and I stayed for the weekend. It was super cozy with nice and comfy amenities. Lovely little get away. We would like to visit again when the weather is warmer, so as to enjoy the peaceful outdoor setting.
Our stay at Forest Glen was better than we expected! The apartment was extremely clean and comfortable. It had everything we needed to feel at home! From the gas grill to the comphy recliners! Our view each morning for breakfast, set the tone for the day. Watching the sunset through the trees in the evening was so relaxing (the wine helped too!). It was a short drive to Hot Springs, as well as restaurants and the grocery store. We found that using the West Gate visitors entrance was the best way to get in and out! If they will have us again, we are going to plan a trip in October!!!
We enjoyed our stay in an area that seemed to be deep in the woods. The apartment backs up to a small creek that creates a peaceful setting. The neighborhood is perfect for boating and golfing. We took off on a bike ride with our dog the one morning it wasn't raining and it was a fun place to explore. The Andersons were on the property most of the time but we still felt like we had our own private space.
A recreation lover's paradise! Golfing, hiking, boating all in the beautiful Ouachita Mountains of central Arkansas! Check out Coleman's Crystal mining in nearby Jessieville.
