About Carol & Dennis Frazier

We are a recently retired couple living in Rock Hill, SC. My husband is from Charlotte and I grew up in Miami Fl and have always loved the beach. We were so excited to find this cute cottage as it is just one block over from where we spent our honeymoon 40 years ago.

Carol & Dennis Frazier purchased this cottage in 2008

Why Carol & Dennis Frazier chose Coastal North Carolina

We like Oak Island since we spent our honeymoon there. Building codes limit all structures to three stories. A very family beach and we can walk-or ride bikes- to beach from our home.

What makes this cottage unique

We offer free bikes , a portable grill, crab nets and cage, beach toys and chairs for our guests.

cute and quiet

  • 4 of 5

My wife, two young daughters and I had a really nice Labor Day weekend stay here (once Tropical Storm Hermine cleared out!). The house is much roomier than it might appear from the pictures. The neighborhood is nice and shady and quiet, away from any hubbub. Nice big yard too, with a tree swing that our girls just loved. Easy, mostly shaded walk to the beach (though crossing Oak Island Drive can be a little hairy -- no one slows down!). Carol and Dennis were very accommodating.

This was also our first time staying at Oak Island as a family and we will definitely be back!

Great stay

  • 5 of 5

With a kitchen equipped for cooking, we enjoyed fresh fish from local Haag & Sons every night. Chairs and sun shade for the beach were handy and saved extra packing. The outdoor enclosed shower was a hit with all of us (except perhaps our dog who joined us for the week :-)

lovely home on quiet street

  • 4 of 5

We enjoyed the location of the house on the quiet street, particularly the little sound-side park nearby with pretty sunset views and crabbing opportunities for the children. The home was nicely furnished and we were particularly impressed with the cleanliness and size of the kitchen for a small house. Though the distance to the beach on foot was not too far if you enjoy a walk, you did have to cross a very busy street without a crosswalk area. We enjoyed our stay very much!

Perfect all the way around.

  • 5 of 5

Loved the homey feel of this vacation rental. Furnished comfortably. Loved the porches. Extra touches (bikes, beach chairs, etc.) saved us time and packing space. Easy walk to the beach and some restaurants.

We had a wonderful time

  • 5 of 5

Carol and Dennis Frazier couldn't be any nicer or easier to work with. We had a much needed family get-away, the first one in 5 years. The house is in a nice, quiet neighborhood. It is great for walking. I think it took me 6 minutes to walk to the Barbee Street Beach Access with the dogs. It is close to Food Lion for groceries.

You truly feel that you are visiting somebody's home not just somebody's rental property. The beds sleep good. The rooms are really a good size which is not often the case with beach houses. The screened-in porch on the side is a bonus.

I truly hope that we will be able to rent this house again.

Oak Island is a quaint family beach. The island is 13 miles long, with the beach to the south side and the intercoastal on the north side. There is public beach access at almost any block. There are 4 fishing piers, and 2 marina on the island along with a host of fish markets and restaurants. If you like taking bike rides, this is the place to be. Southport is just a few minutes away as a historic seaport, with its many antiques and restaurant. You can take the Southport Ferry to Fort Fisher, Kure Beach and Carolina Beach. There is also a ferry to Bald Head Island. Wilmington is @ 30 miles north. It too is a historic seaport, but much larger. There are several parks for the kids. If you like island living, this is it.
