A Classic Kauai Cottage on Acres of Beautiful Grounds.
Away from developments and the public.
More Island Artsy Than Corporate.
Watch the sunrise off the ocean horizon from bed. Enjoy quiet time under the shade of the Pink Tacoma trees in the hammock which embraces both ocean & mountain views.
Its a short 15 to 20 minute walk down a shady little road to beautiful Anahola Beach. In case of a tsunami warning you will not need to evacuate as we are not in the evacuation zone.
Our retreat is located in the East for a great base to explore both sides of the island.
Also within walking distance is a little general store, post office, ono char burger stand & the bus stop. As well as a well known Hawaiian Spa.
We had a great time at Diana's-If you want to immerse yourself in a local experience in Kauai this is definitely the place! The house was great and the property was lovely. The local beach was great to hang out at, as well as a number of beaches in the area. We also found a local bakery up the street in Kilauea that was amazing. We would definitely stay here again!
You will have no regrets staying in this perfect little house. We had a wonderful time, it was honestly magical.
We loved our stay at the sweet rustic cottage! The setting was beautiful with the ocean view in the front and the mountains in the back. It was peaceful and private. The cottage had everything we needed to feel at home! We enjoyed mangoes from the mango tree every day! Thanks Diana for sharing your piece of paradise. Can't wait to return!
My new wife and I LOVED our stay at Manihani's quaint farm cottage. We wish we could have stayed for weeks, rather than just the five nights we had booked.
The cottage is on a beautiful spread of land. Even though the driveway takes you past a couple other homes, by the time you get to the cottage you feel like you have the whole east side of Kaua'i to yourself. Also, my wife and I felt like Anahola, the small community where this place is located, is the perfect spot on the island. It's just far enough removed from the tourist hangouts that you can decompress, but still just a quick drive to Kapaa and Hanalei, two places with good restaurants and all the amenities.
One major plus to this property is that it has a ton of gear for the beach — two beach chairs, a couple floating chairs, some sun hats, beach towels, even an umbrella. We were so thankful to find this stuff waiting for us. It made our days at the beach (we recommend the Anahola Beach Park and Kekaha) way more comfortable than they would have been had we been left to our own devices.
A review of Manihani's farm wouldn't be complete without a mention of Coco-nut, the dog. He's a super friendly chocolate lab who would come for visits from the host's home nearby. He came and hung out with us and played fetch two mornings in a row. Being the dog lovers that we are, hanging out with Coco sent this place over the top for us!
Last but not least, Diana was the consummate host. Her e-mails prior to our stay were super helpful. The notebook about the property — which was out on the counter for our arrival — was very helpful as well. We were never left guessing about the wifi password or what to do with the trash; all our questions were answered right there.
This cottage is definitely a no-frills kind of place. But if you're looking for an escape from all the hubbub that you find around Hawai'i, then you should do yourself a favor and stay here.
A special place tucked away on a beautiful farm in the hills of Anahola. For a step back in time stay at this charming, affordable cottage that has everything one needs for an enjoyable vacation away from the resorts and traffic of the south shore. If you want luxury this is not for you but the owners have provided everything one needs for an extended stay. The many roosters do have a way of interrupting sleep (ear plugs advised). You can walk to Anahola beach (local and quiet) but it does take about 20 min. so if you are carrying chairs, coolers, etc. you may choose to drive (5 min.); plenty of parking space. Anahola's convenient location makes it easy to drive to Kilauea, north shore beaches, farmers' markets, the Hanalei area and to the NaPali trail head. We also took a day to brave the traffic in Kapaa (use the by-pass unless shopping in town) through Lihue and past Poipu to the western side to access the Waimea Canyon road for the many awe inspiring views and hiking. Well worth it! Mahalo to Diana for sharing this very special property.
I have stayed here a number of times and it's always a peaceful, restful, lovely experience. Away from the resort scene, close to nature, simple and homey, with a distant view of the ocean and glorious sunrises. The hammock in the front yard, always in the shade, with birds singing nearby, is my favorite spot.
