About The Owner

We are Ray and Deanie, our primary home is in Lakeland Fl with our children and family. We are high school sweethearts who have bee very blessed and fortunate in our lives. Our 2 children, Travis and Jodi, gave us 4 beautiful amazing grandchildren. We own Gunder's Auto Center, a collision repair shop, in Lakeland with our 2 children. I am semi-retired as I travel to NC and love working the vacation rental business.

The Owner purchased this cabin in 2009

Why The Owner chose North Carolina Mountains

We built his home, actually I was the GC, and built this 2nd dream home in 2009. We bought the property as one parcel, and decided to put in the roads and few lots. I love the vacation rental business, and hoping to give our children a place in the mountains after we are gone, we are hanging on to our beautiful river and mountain log homes. We love the mountains!!!! I love this home!!!! It was built with lots of love and passion, designed and decorated with the same, and I hope you too will fall in love with our home and our beloved Smokey Mountains...

Guestbook comments from the owner

Just a note to thank you again. It was beyond a blessing to spend time with my children, my husband and my mother away from the busy daily schedules back home. we made memories none of us will soon forget.

Your home is beautiful. I have not had a good nights sleep in I don't know when - until this week. I slept like a baby all night, that alone was a blessing.

The deck proved to be our favorite spot in the mornings and at night. We spent hours out there talking, reading, eating, drinking.

Beautiful cabin!!

  • 5 of 5

The cabin has everything imaginable! Plenty of space for a large family. The owners are wonderful and respond quickly to any questions we had. We enjoyed relaxing in the Jacuzzi on the bottom deck and grilling out during the evening. And don't forget to take advantage of the fire pit out front to make smores for dessert. We can't wait to go back!

BEAUTIFUL AND RELAXING!

  • 5 of 5

This is absolutely one of the most beautiful and relaxing places we have ever stayed. We just didn't want to leave. There are so many fine restaurants available and many points of interest including gemstone mining. Overlooking the river gives a view second to none! We highly recommend it and will go back next March!

Owner's Response: Oh thank you so much. So appreciate you taking the time to give your review. Yes, we're pretty partial to this home. I personally love turning off all sounds - and at night just sitting on the deck and listen to the river flowing, gurgling over the rocks. Franklin does have a lot to offer and they keep adding. Next time - check out the shows at our new amphitheater (outdoor stage and seating) behind the Fun Factory. Fun and romantic! Till March 2016!

PERFECT GETAWAY!!!

  • 5 of 5

Where do I start? From the first sight of our arrival to the last glance back at our departure, we were thrilled w/the week we had together at this beautiful location. This property has everything on the outside and even more in the inside. We enjoyed everything about this log home, from the furnishings to the views. Everything was beyond our expectations. The coziness of the fireplace to the fun in the game room. Location was very convenient to all the places in the area that we wanted to visit. We were not misled by any description regarding this place. Well maintained, great customer service, decorated to make you feel welcomed and would definitely recommend this property to friends and relatives. One of our favorite restaurant was Café Rel in Franklin. We also liked Mi Casa in Franklin. Dry Falls was our favorite Water Fall in Highlands. The day spent at the Biltmore Estates was great. There was just so much......We can not wait til our next return to the top of this mountain!

FABULOUS

  • 5 of 5

I wish we could see Deanie in person to give her a big hug for sharing her beautiful home with us!! It was our daughter's 15 birthday& we needed a place for the 3 of us & 5 of her friends. When some hear 6 teenagers, they quickly back away. But Deanie & her brother Clennie (who helps with the property) were more than welcoming & all about us making memories -- which we did! The kids couldn't stop talking about what a beautiful place they were in & how grateful they were to be there. They had plenty of space to talk & hang out while my husband & I had just enough space to be near them yet find peace & quiet. My favorite spot was in one of the lounge chairs on the deck overlooking the mountains & TN river. We are back home now & already missing that beautiful cabin!! Thank you again for a family memory we won't soon forget.

Owner's Response: Oh that is so sweet and kind, thank you. It was my pleasure to work with you and your husband and was very honored to share a little part of your daughter's birthday wishes. Luckily the River House was occupied so I could suggest the mountain house. I knew the girls would love the basement and game room, and yes the parents (and grandparents) need their own space too. Thank you for your praise and comments on the house, we are very proud and happy. Would love to see a few pictures, did you go white water rafting or to the falls? Again thank you, and hopefully we shall meet - you might want to come back and stay longer with other friends and family.

Awesome Vacation

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed our stay at this beautiful cabin more than words can say! The house is very clean and is stocked with everything you need to feel like you are at your home away from home! The large L-shaped reclining sofa is so comfy....the game room and hot tub kept us occupied much of the time and I was thankful that the owners have satellite TV on the many flat screen TV's....so my kids didn't have to argue over the TV! The only negative I can say is there was no internet, but that wasn't a big deal to us, though it might be for some. We went tubing in the river, visited the Highlands, and the Fun Factory, but mostly we enjoyed doing absolutely nothing at this beautiful house! The owner is very nice and easy to work with. I would recommend this house to anyone....you won't be sorry. The pictures don't do it justice....the house is absolutely beautiful!
