Such an awesome house!

  • 5 of 5

This house was amazing. My husband, daughter, and I had a great long weekend at the house. We come to Big Bear a few times a year to get away from the city, so we usually spend most of the weekend inside when we rent houses. This was perfect for us! We loved the indoor hot tub - which at first we were worried about, since we'd always stayed in houses with outdoor tubs and we were worried that it might smell chlorine-y in the house. Not at all! And it was such a treat to not have to go out in the cold to go in the hot tub! And the movie theater room was *so* much fun. We watched the new Star Wars movie, Rogue One, and it looked & sounded awesome! We actually brought our Playstation and hooked it up to the surround sound system using the directions that Travis left - it was perfect. :) We played a few games of shuffleboard, too - that was fun! The kitchen was fully stocked with everything we needed to prepare some great meals, too. The only super small thing was that there's some loose boards on the deck outside - watch your step, both of us tripped on a board on the deck. But otherwise this place is absolutely great. Would definitely stay here again!

Amazing place for a large group

  • 5 of 5

Travis was a great host. The house is well kept, has a ton of space and amazing views. The property is only a few minutes away from the entrance to bear mountain by car so we were able to take a short drive and park up the mountain. We had a group of 14 people and we had room for everyone. We spent most of our time in the game room chatting, playing pool and drinking by the fire place. Do make sure to bring firewood if you come in the winter as the fireplaces are great. The garage is not available to guests so make sure to keep that in mind if you are planning a trip with a big group; the driveway fits 4 cars. The theater is a bit chilling in the winter if you are going to use it as a bedroom (There are extra blankets so you'll be fine) just fyi.

Great house for large group!

  • 5 of 5

We just returned from a wonderful weekend at this home. We had four families with young children and the house was PERFECT for what we needed. Everyone enjoyed the indoor spa as well as the movie theater! It was so perfect to come in from the snow and curl up with blankets to watch a movie in stadium seating with surround sound. The bedrooms were great - spacious and comfortable. And the views - amazing! It was so picturesque looking out from the main level. The owner, Travis, was extremely accommodating throughout the entire process. He responded right away via email when we had questions upon checking in. We enjoyed ourselves greatly and would highly recommend this home for any large family or group looking for a fabulous stay in Big Bear!!!

Big Bear Chalet Visit Before New Years

  • 2 of 5

We stayed at this house for four days between Christmas and New Years. There were 12 of us (three families). I have used VRBO at least 15 times and this was the only time where we had issues. Unfortunately, for the premium price we paid, we assumed that the house would be in good working condition. There were many things went going wrong mechanically in the house. The indoor hot tub was not working. A repairman came on day one and fixed it. But, it broke again the next day. Also, the icemaker was broken the entire time. We think this caused the refrigerator to malfunction since it broke on the 3rd day. We moved all of our food to the deck to keep it cold the last day (luckily, it was cold enough). The kitchen faucet was broken, the microwave tray was missing, lights downstairs were broken. . . The owner, Travis, was very kind and tried to get a repair person but couldn't get one there due to the holidays.

On a positive note, there is lots of space with nice separation for people. The house had amazing views of the mountains and the ski areas. It was incredibly beautiful. So, this is a good place to stay if all the repairs get done.

Owner's Response: Christie and her group took good care of our home, and we greatly appreciate that! We also appreciate the kind words she says about how amazing of a house this is. Unfortunately, she did encounter some "issues" during her stay, which I was extremely responsive in handling. When she called to say that the 6 double sized rolls of toilet paper wouldn't be enough for her 3 night stay, I had my housekeeper give her more. When she called to say the spa wasn't heating, I had a repairman there within an hour to show her how to use it. (At the time we had separate switches for the spa jets and heat, but now both are controlled by one switch to avoid any confusion for future guests.) When she called to say the kitchen faucet was broken (actually the handle was just loose but still completely operable), I had my house manager there at 9:30pm to tighten it for her. And when she called to blame me for her cinnamon rolls not cooking evenly because the microwave was missing the rotating plate (someone had placed it in the cupboard directly above the microwave), I knew she was going to be one difficult guest to please, but that still didn't stop me from trying. When she called to complain about one of the bathroom soap dispensers being empty, I had hand soap delivered to the house. When she call to complain about no ice in the ice maker, I had ice delivered to her. I'm not really not sure what she means when she says I tried to get a repair person there but couldn't. I had multiple people make a half dozen trips to the house during her 3 night stay to try and accommodate each and every "issue" she had. So for her to give us only 2 stars does seem a bit harsh. This isn't just a vacation rental for us, it is our second home that we absolutely cherish. We stay there often, and quite literally spend half of our time there doing projects and maintenance to ensure our guests have a carefree experience. On the off chance that an unexpected issue does present itself, you can rest assured that we will do everything we can to resolve it right away.
