Victoria Condo Rental Photos and Description

Condo, 1 Bath, (Sleeps 2)

If this unit is booked we have two other condos in the building. This oceanfront, corner, unit with floor to ceiling windows along two walls looks into the harbour in downtown Victoria. We also can accommodate some two day rentals

Sit on your private covered balcony and watch the boats in the inner and upper harbours during the day and the sunsets at night.

Walk to all downtown amenities. Take in whale watching, kayaking, water taxi and biking right outside your door on the wharf. BBQ or relax on the roof top patio.

Located in the heart of downtown Victoria in the Mermaid building. On the waterfront of the harbour and the edge of the Gorge waterway, the Mermaid Building allows its guests to experience downtown Victoria, the Inner Harbour, the Gorge Waterway, the ocean, the upper part of the island and Vancouver, with ease.

Some of Victoria’s most popular restaurants surround the building, making it easy to have gourmet meals with out the worry of taxis or drinking and driving.

Take a Whale watching tour right outside the door. Or rent a kayak and glide through the harbour to the open ocean to discover the Pacific’s wild life. Or paddle up the Gorge waterway and enjoy the beautiful scenery. Salmon Fish with a charter or rent a power boat and just take it easy touring Victoria from the water’s perspective.

Just steps away, the harbour sea planes take passengers in a half hour flight to downtown Vancouver, offering great shopping on Robson street, Theatres, Stanley Park and more, and all in a day allowing one to return home for dinner.

The Mermaid neighbours Historic China Town with its many vegetable stores, restaurants and curio shops.

Romantic horse drawn carriages carry passengers through the inner harbour past the parliament buildings, the world famous Royal BC Museum, live entertainment, Underwater Sea Gardens, Omnimax Theatre, Miniature World, Double Decker sight seeing tours, and tour buses to the renowned Butchart Gardens.

Cycle, stroll, run, or even ride a horse on the picturesque Galloping Goose Trail. This multi-use trail, formerly a railway line, moves right beside the Mermaid Building, through urban, rural and wilderness scenery on its 55-kilometre journey from Victoria to Sooke. Whether you're commuting to work, meandering on a weekend afternoon or pacing yourself from Sidney to Sooke, the trail is yours to enjoy.

Catch the little Harbour Ferry stopping at the Mermaid and travel right up the Gorge waterway to Tillicum and down to the Empress.

Nothing has been spared in furnishing this space. It is fully equipped with a 32 inch flat screen Smart TV, DVD player, high speed Wifi internet and modem, microwave, dishwasher, stove, fridge, toaster, coffee maker, washing machine and dryer. The kitchen is fully equipped.

Guestbook comments from the owner

We have had such a great visit in your lovely city. Such a nice escape from the cold. We really enjoyed the magnificent sunsets. We found it so easy to walk everywhere. A real plus. Being right in the heart of the old town was lovely to enjoy the independent boutiques and restaurants. We would choose this part of the city again. The condo is so modern and beautifully equipped. Although the condo is not large, we did not feel cramped. Everything is full sized. We would like to recommend the condo to all. Please feel free to post this letter on your web site

Noisy

  • 3 of 5

We stayed here for a month. It is a good central location but the view is not as spectacular as it looked in the pictures...you are basically looking at working docks and it is exceptionally noisy day and night. Water taxis are just below window and beep all day and work across the harbour is loud. Then at night you get to listen to the party crowds and bands at the bar across the street....basically drunk people all night long coming and going. We loved Victoria and its vibrant little downtown but would recommend somewhere a little quieter to stay. Nice little apartment although becoming a little worn. Very clean.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your comments. It was a difficult situation with your reluctance to depart as per the agreed terms on check out day. It is essential to respect the check out days and times in order for the VRBO system to operate effectively. I hope you found something quieter and more affordable. I think you were going to try Sooke. I am sure there are properties in Sooke within your budget and which are certainly quieter than Victoria's vibrant downtown.

Good location for downtown

  • 3 of 5

If you plan on sleeping past 6:00am, bring earplugs, the canoe brewpub is directly across the street, and has their garbage picked up every morning. ( lots of seagulls too) Also, the blinds are too shear, when the sun is up, so are you. Overall, the condo is small but functional. Has most everything you need. Water taxi right out the door, or an easy walk to pubs and restaurants. Underground parking spot is a nice touch. appliances are high quality

We would gladly return

  • 4 of 5

We truly loved this rental unit because of the location overlooking the inner harbour and the feeling of light and space. This and the modern fittings made us want to buy something similar in the UK! We didn't quite realise when booking that it is a studio flat with bed, dining and kitchen all in one open-plan space, but that was fine with us. There was good storage space for our things. The block's roof garden was a nice place to relax.

We loved staying in Victoria (and visiting Vancouver from there) and this rental unit was so handy with short walks for everything we wanted to do, see and buy.

Two slight downsides: we loved hearing the bustle of the inner harbour on our doorstep with its walkers, canoeists, water taxi/ferry stop, and we even enjoyed the sound of seaplanes flying directly overhead, but no-one told us that the brewpub (The Canoe) and restaurant just opposite the block had loud bands playing from 9-12 on many nights. We both enjoyed having food and drinks there, but had to sleep with earplugs until 12.30 am on three nights. Second slight niggle: the mattress topper's cover was nylon material so it slipped about and wrinkled uncomfortably in the night.

Apart from that, we loved it, and we're already planning our return to Mermaid Wharf!

Nice digs in a great location!

  • 4 of 5

We very much enjoyed our week stay at this condo. It is cheery, light, fairly well stocked for those who cook (aside from lacking a small saute pan) and incredibly convenient to everything Victoria offers. In the heat of summer, it could be hot even though it has window blinds...it needs ceiling fans as there is no way to get cross ventilation, The condo would do well with a bit of screwdriver work on the kitchen faucet. Those minor adjustments aside, this is a great vacation rental.
