About Kathy Eckles

I love welcoming guests to our home! I grew up outside of Cleveland and have lived on Cape Ann since 1997 when I purchased this home. My first career was as a senior executive in the retail industry for 24 years. I now provide psychology, coaching and consulting services for individuals and organizations. www.kathyeckles.com

Why Kathy Eckles chose Merrimack Valley & Essex County

Cape Ann is inspiring. I love the sea, huge rocks, and rugged, genuine people. Once I knew I wanted to move here, I had a dream in which I saw the exact same view we have overlooking the inner harbor, so the moment I walked into this home, I knew I was in the right place.

What makes this house unique

Especially love the entire back of the house - kitchen, family room, sunroom, outdoor porch and master bedroom. As they all overlook the inner harbor, there's a peaceful sense of being steeped in the vibrant blend of beauty and everyday life.

Back for 3rd Year in a Row!

  • 5 of 5

For anyone considering booking this property, please realize that I now consider it MY summer home (and I hope you enjoy it as much do)!! Kathy, the owner, is a wonderful and amazing person who has become a good friend over the years. She is kind, caring and responsive with an insane attention to detail. If you are a neat freak like me, this property is for you. Somehow she is able to combine an impeccably clean home that is also "super cozy." I felt at home the 1st time I stayed here, and just feel more so every summer. The views and gardens are incredible and the location allows you to park your car (in the garage!) and walk everywhere. During my most recent 2 week stay, I think I used my rental car 4 or 5 times. Kathy and her home are real gems. I am 1000000% confident that you will not be disappointed.

AMAZING TRIP AND HOME

  • 5 of 5

We chose this home because of the previous reviews and I must say we weren't left disappointed. Let me first say that Kathy was the most wonderful host. She laid out all the things to see and where to go. She checked in with us if we needed anything and before arriving asked us if we needed any information on what we might want to do. I have used Home away many times and Kathy was the BEST. Thank you Kathy for our wonderful experience. The house is Beautiful, great views of the Harbor, Very spacious, Beds are SO comfortable. You feel at home right away. We had a great time whale watching (saw many whales Breach which was amazing). We visited many towns nearby aw well as just relaxing and taking in the small town charm. I would book again with Kathy the next time we're in the area. She goes above an beyond to make your stay the Best.

Amazing home for a week!

  • 5 of 5

First of all, the photos don't do this house justice. It is a roomy, beautifully appointed home overlooking the Gloucester harbor. Kathy was wonderful and helped us plan day trips up the coast, suggested great restaurants and activities to make our stay so memorable. We drank coffee every morning in the sunroom watching the boats come and go. We gathered there for cocktails in the evening too. It was pure bliss!

Wonderful Stay in Gloucester

  • 5 of 5

We just returned from a one month stay in this lovely home in Gloucester. Well-appointed, comfortable furnishings and a fully equipped kitchen enhanced our stay. We enjoyed many relaxing afternoons on the sunporch overlooking the inner harbor....it was a great view! The home was conveniently located within walking distance of downtown shops, restaurants and the local YMCA for swimming and exercise classes. We were also within a short drive from many scenic North Shore beaches and attractions and we enjoyed many day trips in the area.

The owner, Kathy, was a kind and attentive hostess who was always available to answer questions and solve some issues which arose during our visit. Problems with the air conditioning system and the WiFi were addressed and solved. She provided us with a printer and bathroom scale which we requested on our arrival and made many suggestions for local activities and dining.

We highly recommend this property and would happily stay again if our travels bring us to Gloucester in the future. It was truly a "home away" from home!

Perfect place to visit Gloucester and its surrounding area!

  • 5 of 5

My family and I had a wonderful time at WaterViews during the holiday season. The house is even nicer than on the pictures. It offers everything one needs to cook and feel at home. We did day trips to visit the area. So many beaches, museums, and towns to visit and wonderful hikes to do. Kathy is the best hostess you can wish for. She contacted us to make sure everything was going well. Thank you

One of the most beautiful places I've ever stayed!

  • 5 of 5

My mother, sister, and I took a family trip to Gloucester and happened upon this listing as an option for lodging. I am beyond happy that we found it and that we were able to book it for the week we were in the area. This was one of the best experiences I've ever had traveling! I've booked several places from VRBO and airb&b and have had good experiences, but this really blows them all away.

The house: beautiful and cozy. The view is breathtaking. Very spacious and gorgeously decorated. Everything you could possibly want is here. Fully stocked kitchen, fireplace + wood, 3 bedrooms with ample space, did I mention the view? Because as beautiful as the house is, the view is the star of the show. We would sit sometimes for hours watching boats come and go in the harbor while having a cocktail or chatting. The landscaping in the backyard is also lovely. Kathy really keeps this place in top shape. You can tell how much she cares about the house, as well as the comfort and happiness of her guests. It's evident everywhere you look. The location is great, too. It's within walking distance of many fun things to do, and it's easy to hop onto a main road and get to the highways from there. It's a great starting spot for a road trip north OR south.

Kathy is an inimitable host. She leaves an abundance of information about the local attractions/sights/etc. so that the guests don't have to do all the legwork. She truly goes the extra mile, above and beyond anyone from whom I've ever booked a place to stay. You can tell she loves her town. She even came over and visited with us one evening and we had a wonderful time! I've never felt so welcome in the home of someone I hardly know...or even in the homes of some people I DO know!

Bottom line: This was one of the best decisions we've ever made with regards to a vacation rental. If you plan to stay in Gloucester at any time, you should move this home to the top of your list of places to consider. You won't regret it. We had an amazing vacation and have not stopped smiling/talking about it since. We would book again with Kathy in a heartbeat next time we're in the area, and we may even come back to the area just to stay here. It was THAT good of an experience.

Thank you Kathy for sharing your lovely home! I can honestly say you made our vacation even better. :)
