Welcome to Gloucester!
I love welcoming guests to our home! I grew up outside of Cleveland and have lived on Cape Ann since 1997 when I purchased this home. My first career was as a senior executive in the retail industry for 24 years. I now provide psychology, coaching and consulting services for individuals and organizations. www.kathyeckles.com
Kathy Eckles purchased this house in 1997
Cape Ann is inspiring. I love the sea, huge rocks, and rugged, genuine people. Once I knew I wanted to move here, I had a dream in which I saw the exact same view we have overlooking the inner harbor, so the moment I walked into this home, I knew I was in the right place.
Especially love the entire back of the house - kitchen, family room, sunroom, outdoor porch and master bedroom. As they all overlook the inner harbor, there's a peaceful sense of being steeped in the vibrant blend of beauty and everyday life.
My family and I had a wonderful time at WaterViews during the holiday season. The house is even nicer than on the pictures. It offers everything one needs to cook and feel at home. We did day trips to visit the area. So many beaches, museums, and towns to visit and wonderful hikes to do. Kathy is the best hostess you can wish for. She contacted us to make sure everything was going well. Thank you
My mother, sister, and I took a family trip to Gloucester and happened upon this listing as an option for lodging. I am beyond happy that we found it and that we were able to book it for the week we were in the area. This was one of the best experiences I've ever had traveling! I've booked several places from VRBO and airb&b and have had good experiences, but this really blows them all away.
The house: beautiful and cozy. The view is breathtaking. Very spacious and gorgeously decorated. Everything you could possibly want is here. Fully stocked kitchen, fireplace + wood, 3 bedrooms with ample space, did I mention the view? Because as beautiful as the house is, the view is the star of the show. We would sit sometimes for hours watching boats come and go in the harbor while having a cocktail or chatting. The landscaping in the backyard is also lovely. Kathy really keeps this place in top shape. You can tell how much she cares about the house, as well as the comfort and happiness of her guests. It's evident everywhere you look. The location is great, too. It's within walking distance of many fun things to do, and it's easy to hop onto a main road and get to the highways from there. It's a great starting spot for a road trip north OR south.
Kathy is an inimitable host. She leaves an abundance of information about the local attractions/sights/etc. so that the guests don't have to do all the legwork. She truly goes the extra mile, above and beyond anyone from whom I've ever booked a place to stay. You can tell she loves her town. She even came over and visited with us one evening and we had a wonderful time! I've never felt so welcome in the home of someone I hardly know...or even in the homes of some people I DO know!
Bottom line: This was one of the best decisions we've ever made with regards to a vacation rental. If you plan to stay in Gloucester at any time, you should move this home to the top of your list of places to consider. You won't regret it. We had an amazing vacation and have not stopped smiling/talking about it since. We would book again with Kathy in a heartbeat next time we're in the area, and we may even come back to the area just to stay here. It was THAT good of an experience.
Thank you Kathy for sharing your lovely home! I can honestly say you made our vacation even better. :)
What a beautiful, comfortable home - my friends and I thoroughly enjoyed our weekend stay. Kathy is so pleasant to deal with, and her home is full of lovely ammenities. The piano and harbor view are extra delights! Shopping/touring Rockport and Gloucester were fun. The guitar concert at the Shalin Liu Performance Center overlooking the Atlantic in Rockport was special treat on Sunday evening. Lobsters from Mortillaro's were deeelicious! - Christy T.
We enjoyed our family reunion in your home in Gloucester. The kitchen and front room were wonderful. The owner has prepared a wonderful "home away from home". The only downfall is lack of AC. The windows and multiple fans were helpful, but during a heat wave in August, sleeping upstairs was unbearable. I would recommend the owner purchase some type of portable AC for her guests to be comfortable on those "extra hot" summer nights.
The home "Had me from Hello!" Between the view and overall loveliness of the home, one cannot ask for more. Every need is met, from the comfort of the beds to the soap in all the bathrooms. Kathy is as wonderful as her home.
This home is spectacular! Lovely view, close to everything and so spacious and comfortable! We enjoyed our vacation in Gloucester and took the whale watch tour (a must see!) It was a short walk to all the fabulous restaurants and only steps away from the famous Crow's Nest where we met the locals and enjoyed the stories and history of this wonderful place! Kathy is great and we couldn't have asked for more in a vacation spot, highly recommended 😀
Gloucester is the oldest working seaport and art colony in America, and prides herself on not being 'touristy'. This is also one of the top five whale watching areas in the world! There's so much to do here: charter fishing, hiking, biking, shopping, kayaking, birding (one of the top areas in the US), sunset schooner cruises, theaters, museums, live music, beautiful beaches, tours, world-class dining. Boston is only 60 minutes away by train or car.
