Lovely family owned air conditioned apartment within the superior El Marques Palace gated complex. The elevated position of El Marques Palace ensures sunshine all day long. 2 comfy & pretty bedrooms (one with king size bed, the other has two full size single beds) plus two bathrooms - each with bath & showers. With the double sofa bed in the lounge, this apartment can sleep up to 6. Wide double balcony the width of the whole apartment with marvellous sea/sunset views towards island of La Gomera and awesome Los Gigantes cliffs. Access to lounge & master bedroom through patio doors, flooding rooms with light and air. 312 is bathed in sunshine for MANY hours each day.

The heated swimming pool is in sunshine from early morning until early evening..

Well equipped, fitted kitchen; halogen hob, large oven, grill, fridge/freezer, washing machine & microwave. Cooking is easy (fresh fish, meat, vegetables & bread available very locally). Dine alfresco on balcony then stroll into relaxed atmosphere of Los Gigantes for coffee/dessert in the plaza or wander into the evening entertainments on offer, generally just for the price of a drink!! It is very pleasant to potter in the balmy evening air. Great choice/value wide range of excellent local restaurants.

Los Gigantes: The quaint village of Los Gigantes snuggles in a secluded valley overlooking a spectacular bay. Friendly people enjoy a gentle pace of life in a glorious setting. Visitors return time after time as this is one of the most tranquil and exclusive areas of the island of Tenerife. The village has been built around the traditional style plaza with the beautiful church at its heart (very friendly congregation). The church has a fabulous collection of bronze sculptures with a dramatic painting over the altar. This plaza is the hub of the village, colourful ‘fiestas’ are held here many times a year – great fun. Take time out and enjoy a glass of local wine or a coffee and just watch the world go by. If you're lucky the local 'parakeetas' will put on an aerial display for you in one of the large leafy trees. Beautiful vistas from the ‘Oasis’ and ‘El Aguilla’ and lots of other places to just while away lazy days relaxing in your swimsuit enjoying the sunshine and pleasant temperatures.

Tenerife: Siam Water Park has been a favourite with guests, as has Loro Park, diving in the clear waters off Los Gigantes, magnificent and dramatic Mount Teide and volcanic rock fields in the Canadas. Sightseeing trips around the island or over to the extraordinary island of La Gomera, are all easily accessible. Local buses cheap and reliable.

Slightly further afield there are the amazing pyramids at Guima, hiking in the hills or down the twisting cliff path to Masca Bay, trips to ancient vineyards and the historic Drago tree, (learn about the history of the guanchos the native Tenerifians) a choice of beaches and boat trips from Los Gigantes harbour to visit the whales and dolphins playing out at sea. Lovely people in reception will be happy to help you arrange any of these outings. Do ask about the Almond Blossom Trail.

Stunning Views: There are stunning views across the wide blue bay to the island of La Gomera, which rises majestically from the ocean. Big blue skies, day after day. Take time out at sunset to just stand and stare at the spectacular free show as the sun plops into the sea coating the island and ocean in liquid gold. We celebrate the sunset each evening from the balcony of the apartment – raising a glass of local vino to the magical pink and blue. We scoff olives and almonds and drink in the spectacle – our little holiday ritual. The magnificent Los Gigantes cliffs soar above the Northern side of the village helping create a sheltered warm year-round micro-climate

About Terry and Felicity Margolis

Terry and Fliss were married in 1976 and moved to their current home in the Mid Wales hills in 1982. They restored an old barn and stone farmhouse set in 22 acres of land with a 20 acre bluebell wood and for the last 30 years have run a holiday business there - Barlings Barn. www.barlbarn.zetnet.co.uk

We fell in love with this gorgeous apartment in 2002. We had travelled to Los Gigantes when Fliss was very ill with Asthma. The asthma disappeared within 2 hours of arriving! We thought we ought to visit more often but wanted others to be able to share this lovely place. El Marques Palace is in a very sunny elevated position with lovely views and Fiss is particularly fond of sunset views over the sea. It is a tradition for Terry and Fliss to sit on the balcony and toast the sunset whilst munching olives and local almonds. Ah bliss!

Why Terry and Felicity Margolis chose Parque natural del Teide

We loved pretty 'wedding cake' design of El Marques Palace and the wonderfully sunny location which is peaceful without being isolated. There is plenty of space to sunbathe and the heated swimming pool was a very big draw and we have used it lots and lots and lots. We love being able to stroll everywhere locally, the beautiful ocean views and the majesty of the Gigantes cliffs soaring from the sea way below. Our guests over the last 13 years agree and many return time after time which is such a nice feeling.

The area is peaceful but there is plenty to do if you want to dine out or be entertained.

What makes this apartment unique

For us the Los Gigantes/ Puerto Santiago micro-climate is a unique benefit. Not only can Fliss testify to the health giving qualities in regards to her asthma they also now know that people travel to this area as it helps their arthritis too. People who would be in a lot of pain in the damp UK climate find they are able to walk around and enjoy a better quality of life, particularly in the winter. There is also a lovely community feel to the area which means you feel so at home right from the start. Everyone is so friendly and laid back.

Returned from holiday this afternoon - everything fantastic: flights spot on (10 mins early back!), airport transfer excellent, apartment superb perfect for the two of us - so much space and, weather unbelievable (40 degrees, not a cloud in the sky!) - all in all a great holiday - just what we wanted. Thanks for the apartment, it really is a gem. Thanks again, already thinking about next year and I think I've said this before, I don't usually like going to a place that I've been to before, but when you've found somewhere near perfect it's difficult not to return!

A nice apartment, good location

THis was a really nice place to stay for us: 2 adults, 1 child (aged 3). Los Gigantes is quiet, with not much nightlife (which suited us) but some nice places to eat. The apartment was nice: clean and spacious with everything we needed. It could do with some very minor things being fixed - e.g. 1 towel rail coming detached from the wall, but was lovely overall and good value for money. Watch out for the lift in the complex though - we got stuck in it! even though we reported it as broken nothing seemed to be done about either putting up a warning sign or getting it fixed.

Owner's Response: It's always nice to receive a good review! We mentioned the towel rail when we were at the apartment in March 2009 and Reception responded quickly and professionally as we have always found them to do. The lift is a bit of a mystery as Reception had no record of a problem but on the positive side it was working perfectly during our stay.

El Marques Palace is situated where Los Gigantes meets Puerto Santiago. Both are small 'villages' with a very relaxed atmosphere -quiet but with plenty to do and see. This South West part of Tenerife has its own micro climate - the sunniest on the island. Fliss's personal favourite activity is sitting watching the dancing glittering ocean or walking the cliff path overlooking the bay, before flomping down onto a sun lounger by the swimming pool with a good book and a cold drink!

NEW FOR 2015 Puerto Santiago Sporting Club has just opened very nearby. TENNIS * PADDLE TENNIS * 2 X FULL-SIZE SNOOKER TABLES * CARPET BOWLS *10 SCREEN SPORTS BAR * VIRTUAL GOLF * DINING – BREAKFAST, LUNCH AND DINNER * OPEN 9 A.M. UNTIL MIDNIGHT.

There are lots of other different restaurants in the area; from traditional Canarian food (very fresh, very good) through Chinese, Indian, Italian, British, many with beautiful views over the sunset drenched bay. It is a very safe and pleasurable place to meander around in and take advantage of the evening entertainments on offer in the village. Unsophisticated fun for couples and .families alike.

There are gorgeous golf courses nearby (many overlooking the ocean), Siam Water Park has been a favourite with guests, diving in the clear waters, Mount Teide and sightseeing trips around the island or over to the extraordinary island of La Gomera, are all easily accessible.

Slightly further afield there are the amazing pyramids at Guima, hiking in the hills or down the twisting cliff path to Masca Bay, trips to ancient vineyards, pretty villages with an 'alpine' feel, and the historic 4,000 year old Drago tree in Puerto de la Cruz, a choice of beaches and boat trips from Los Gigantes harbour to visit the whales and dolphins playing out to sea.

Other Activities: Tennis, Golf,Diving, Mini golf, bowls,sailing, whale and dolphin watching. Trips to Siam Water Park, La Gomera, or Lorro Jungle park are easily arrangeable, just ask at Reception.

Golf: Just Imagine- YEAR ROUND GOLF!!! Yes, literally year round. When we are using blue balls in the UK or packing our golf clubs away for the winter, Southern Tenerife is still basking in glorious balmy sunshine. There are many gorgeous, good quality golf courses nearby (many overlooking the ocean). Nearest 15 minutes by car/taxi. If you are staying for a week you could play a different course every day. There’s “Abama” (home to international tournaments) and therefore quite challenging. A round of golf is incredible value at Los Lagos course in Adeje (approximately 20 minutes distance), and there are lots more we can tell you about. Terry is a very keen golfer and he is very happy to advise and point you in the right direction, just contact us direct. So grab your friends and book our apartment for some fabulous games of golf at any time of the year!

  • Apartment 312 El Marques Palace has two very attractively tiled bathrooms each with bath and shower, w.c. and hand washbasin. The water pressure is good so the showers are very effective and the water doesn’t make my skin itchy (and I’m the allergic sort so I’m a good yardstick for this sort of thing!). It’s very good to have the second bathroom if there is a group of you but a very nice bit of luxury even if there’s just the two of you! Plentiful hot water. Bath/hand towels/soap and shampoo provided at the beginning of your holiday. Towels changed during the week.

  • We restored a ruined farmhouse/grounds and established and have run Barlings Barn (a self catering holiday barn) at our home in rural Mid Wales for the last 30 years. We have many, many happy guests who return time after time. We think we know what will make our guests feel right at home and we have tried to provide that atmosphere in Tenerife too. Comfy Kingsize bed in pretty master bedroom with quality cotton sheets, blankets, bed cover. Canopy. We always sleep like logs. Lovely sea and cliff views. Plenty of wardrobe/storage space/hangers. Safe. Hairdryer. Cosy lighting. Mirrors and pictures. Floor length curtains. Glass patio door to large balcony. Twin bedroom has two very comfortable full size single beds with good quality bedding and spare blankets if necessary. Good size wardrobe/storage. Mirrors and pictures. Cosy lighting. Blinds.
