The palazzetto has a private garden and is located in a charming campiello with a fountain and a lively neighborhood cafe. It is 10 minutes from the Accademia Bridge. Two vaporetto stops are nearby. It is near the Church of San Nicolo' dei Mendicoli, one of the oldest in Venice, and near the venerable school of Architecture at Universita' Ca' Foscari. This is a vibrant venetian neighborhood, where savvy travelers can immerse themselves in venetian life.
Architect restored with careful attention to traditional Venetian materials. Entrance features a mosaic of 14th century marble. Beamed ceilings throughout the building help make staying in this house an authentic Venetian experience. Pieces from my painting and photography collection are on display.
The extremely quiet apartment occupies the entire 2nd floor of the building, providing a light and airy atmosphere with good cross ventilation.
*Maid Service is included*
Loved staying here, Apartment was beautiful and supplied with lots of towels and kitchen supplies, much more than we expected. Manager was super helpful with lots of information, and arranged taxi to airport when we left. Owner lives in US and was very good to work with. Would love to stay here again! Barbara in Texas
...but a short walk to everything one wants to find in Venice. We found the apt. to be charmy, cosy and comfortable. It was well-appointed and the owners have supplied their guests with many books and resources to enhance their stay. The Palazzetto was in a lovely, quiet neighborhood away from the tourist crowds of San Marco but a quick walk or vaporetto ride to all the beauties of Venice.
We hope to return and highly recommend this residence to others!
enjoy the place with my family
when i find the place at 430 am, i feel like winning the jackpot
Of three places we stayed at over a 21 day period covering Positano on the Amalfi Coast and Tuscany this "Venetian gem" had, by far, the homiest feel. We stayed in the two bedroom 2nd floor apartment. More than the basic kitchen equipment needs, spices, music CD's, book shelves with interesting titles. We put the CD player on the window ledge and enjoyed the music while relaxing in the small private garden on the ground floor. The location is no more than a casual 15 minute walk from the train and bus station and a large grocery store is no more than a seven minute walk. This grocery store is a full line super market with lots of prepared food to choose from at very affordable prices. We enjoyed a nice roast chicken and roasted potatoes one night. If you want to save some money on eating out - this super market is the place. The apartment is close enough to walk to all the major sites without a strain but in a quieter neighborhood away from the crowds. We heeded some of the owner's restaurant recommendations and were not disappointed. One of the two bathrooms is conventional by American standards. The smaller bathroom is basically a large shower with a sink and toilet in it which might turn off some clients but we worked around it with one couple showering in the PM and the other couple showering in the AM - in the more standard bathroom which has a conventional shower/tub enclosure. Note that there is a rather steep staircase to the two upper floors but it did not present a problem for the four of us in our late 60's.
We were so happy with our accommodations in Dorsoduro! Natasha, the manager, was fantastic. She showed us everything we needed to know as well as where the grocery store and shops were. There are a lot of stairs going u to the apartment, but we were very great full to burn off some calories after the delicious food recommended In the area,
Thank you Barbara for sharing your wonderful home. We will be sure to recommend it to anyone traveling to the area!
We were 2 adult retired couples from the US and were so delightfully pleased with this very clean, well kept and stocked apartment. The rooms were comfortable and allowed us to experience the Venetian lifestyle to it's fullest. The neighborhood was safe, convenient, and very friendly. Our only issue was we were not given street names and trying to find it for the first time was a bit of a challenge. We would suggest taking the water bus from the main bus stop to the stop and then get directions from there with street names rather than go left, over the bridge as that was confusing. We enjoyed walking the neighborhood and finding the college area where there are some good restaurants also.
Minutes away from lively Campo Santa Margherita full of restaurants, bars and Venetians. Near the University of Architecture.
