After vacationing in Hawaii for many years, we found we loved the Big Island the most. We started renting in Kona and then found paradise in Mauna Lani.
David Sweet and Christine Bray purchased this condo in 2014
We rented A3 several times and it felt like a home to us. When the owners told us it was for sale, we knew it would be our home. Mauna Lani is a quiet upscale resort with many amenities.
Quiet neighborhood, great views of Mauna Kea, wonderful pool, close to the Beach Club. Great weather.
Our family of four had a wonderful stay at the condo! It was spacious, clean, and beautifully appointed. We cooked a lot and appreciated that the kitchen was stocked with spices, oils, and more. It was also nice to have everything we needed for the beach - chairs, towels, umbrellas, boogie boards. Location within the Mauna Lani Resort was also convenient and we had easy access to the Beach Club and the Mauna Lani shops with a terrific market. It's also close to lots of other great beaches - e.g. Hapuna, Beach 69, Fairmont beach. We would love to come back.
We decided to celebrate our 40th anniversary in Hawaii, and choose the Big Island for the occasion. This property was an excellent choice, as there was plenty of activity within the resort and the location was convenient to head south to Kona or beyond or north and on over to the east coast. We cut across the island to go to the Volcano National Park, but some roads were blocked due to grass fires, so it took longer than expected. Bennett's warm welcome and his suggestions for restaurants were so appreciated. We ate at a couple of them more than once over the course of our visit. Although we were only there for a few days, we were able to see/do almost everything we wanted to. We have been to the island a few times, so what we didn't get to on this visit had been seen before. One of the highlights of the trip was dinner at sunset at the Canoe House. Excellent service and food, and such a beautiful setting! Having such a beautiful space to return to each day was really relaxing, and the washer and dryer insured we didn't return home with a bag of dirty clothes. I would absolutely recommend this property for a visit to the island and look forward to returning again!
I enjoyed everything about this property (the features that was offered in the home, the amenities that went with the property, the location suited my needs, and the Aloha spirit of Bennett, the concierge) that I came back for a 2nd consecutive year to stay at Davis and Chris' lovely home. Staying at David and Chris' home allows me the freedom to see ohana for a few hours in Kona or Hilo, take short drives each day for whale watching or sight seeing, but most importantly I always get a comfortable feeling when driving back to their condo and experiencing the "being at home" feeling. Their home makes my week long stay/vacation well worth it. I am back on Hawaii time where the only stressful decision is "is it a beach day or pool day, or why not both". On this 2nd trip I was able to share this experience with my parents and they enjoyed every minute of it. I've rented a good amount of homes using VRBO but I have never been a repeat customer until I found David and Chris. Hoping to make it stay #3 very soon!
We recently enjoyed two weeks in David and Chris' condo. The location of the condo is perfect for enjoying all the Big Island has to offer. My favourite feature of this condo was the ground level lanai where we enjoyed morning coffee gazing out at the spectacular view, watching the sun rise. We used the barbecue on the lanai almost every evening and enjoyed the convenience of not having to go down to a public use barbecue area as we have had to do while on previous vacations. The in-suite washer and dryer was much appreciated for washing beach towels and bathing suits. We were grateful for the excellent communication with David and Chris, and as well with Bennett who is the on-site concierge who can assist with almost any question you may have. The condo worked very well for my husband and I and our teenage son as we all had ample space to relax and enjoy.
This condo is really special. David and Chris have done a marvelous job in outfitting it with every imaginable amenity. We travel to the Big Island fairly regularly, and are in the habit of bringing many items with us, all of which were unneeded in this unit. The unit is luxuriosly decorated, and pleasant in every respect. We appreciated being greeted by their concierge, Bennett, who immediately made us feel at home. Mahalo!
The layout and comfort of your condo and the whole Mauna Lani resort was exactly the perfect place for my husband and I and our two teenagers to get away from the busyness, to rest and reconnect with each other and to get ready for the upcoming year. While we explored the island and all the lovely sights it offers, we all considered our time at the condo, sharing a meal, or hanging out in the pool area, or at the beautiful beach club the best part! It had everything we needed to make our stay the most memorable family time EVER. My favorite part was having early morning coffee on the lanai as the sun rose over the volcano, then heading out for a run in a different direction each day. Incredibly rejuvenating! We also loved the free hula and fire dance performances in the Mauna Lani shopping center each Monday and Thursday nights! Wouldn’t trade our quality time here for anything! So very grateful!
Warning!: very hard to get back to regular life after this place! Haha!
