About Shelda

I have been in the vacation rental business for 20 years and LOVE what I do.

Some of the homes in Maggie Valley on VRBO are owned by me and my husband, and I manage others. I am so fortunate to live in these beautiful Smoky Mountains and I enjoy helping vacationers by sharing my knowledge of the area.

Why Shelda chose Twinbrook

Because it is just miles from the Blue Ridge Parkway, Smokey Mountain National Park, shopping in Waynesville & Asheville, and the elk at Cataloochee. The view is magnificent any time of year, and even more so in the fall when all the colors are changing.

What makes this cabin unique

What's unique about this home is that you can play ping pong and foosball in an open loft. The view of the mountains is simply breathtaking from there.

Everything said is true!

The view is amazing and the cabin is super cute. It was clean and the directions for checking out were clear. The only reason it is getting 4 stars is that although the description states 4 wheel drive recommended it should say required and the signage as you try to navigate up the mountain is super hard to be sure you are on the right path. Other than that we had a great visit and loved the hummingbirds, saw elk, and the weather was perfect.

Owner's Response: We always appreciate a nice, honest review. We're glad you enjoyed this cabin and hope to have you as a guest in the future. We would like for future guests to understand that the reason we don't require 4wd is there are 2 very different ways to reach this home. This is something we explain in the email which is sent once final payment is made. The quickest way is definitely more difficult due to the steepness of the gravel road. There is an alternate route which is easily accessible with most types of vehicles but takes a little longer.

Beautiful cabin and scenery! We enjoyed our stay at Awesome View.

The road leading up the mountain to the cabin was an adventure. It is steep and very bumpy in places. The cabin is comfortable and well-stocked. The view is beautiful! We even saw an elk on the paved road leading to the gravel road!

Owner's Response: Hi Tammy, I'm delighted you enjoyed your stay. Yes, the road is steep for about 1/2 mile but there is another route you can take. It just takes a little longer. I hope you can come again! Thanks, Shelda Muirhead

Loved "Awesome View"

The cabin had everything we needed and the view was great! The drive to the cabin was kind of treacherous, and the driveway was too much for our front wheel drive car. We almost got stuck the first morning! After the first night, we had to park at the top of the hill, instead of going down the drive at the end of the day.But in all fairness, we were told beforehand that a 4WD vehicle would be a better choice.

We saw elk along the road to the cabin several times. We really enjoyed staying in the cabin, and would recommend it (if you have a 4WD, that is!!)

Owner's Response: UPDATE 6/28/17: Since this guests stay we have had the driveway graded to ensure easier access. Thank you for your review! We always ensure that guests understand the road situation. We will definitely discuss the driveway with potential guests as well from now on. We hope to have you back again!

I have been coming to maggie valley every summer for 10 years. My wife and I decided to come in the fall this time to see the leaves changing. We had an amazing trip. This cabin is absolutely beautiful. The views from the porch were amazing. The sunrises were picture perfect every morning. The hot tub was clean. The cabin was clean and the ammenities were great. It is secluded enough where you have privacy, but it isnt desolate. I enjoyed going for morning hikes along the mountain and taking in the beautiful fall colors and the crisp fall air. The loft had foosball and table tennis which were great. Shelda the property manager was great to work with and extremely friendly. She was very responsive to calls and emails. The road up is paved until the last maybe quarter mile is gravel, it is a little bumpy but definetely managable. Thank you for sharing this beautiful cabin with us!

Amazing Views!!

  • 5 of 5

This was by far one of the best mountain rentals we've done and we have done quiet a few. The home was clean, and very comfortable with the most awesome views of the Autumn mountain foliage. The location was wonderful and made for one of the best birthday celebrations for my grandson. We drove over to Dollywood one day and Ghost Town in the Sky for a few hours on another day. Trust me, we will be booking the home again! Thanks to Shelda for her wonderful sense of humor and attention to detail.
