About Tom Watkins

I am working for an NGO that requires I spend time in Geneva, so am often out of New York.

Tom Watkins purchased this apartment in 1982

Why Tom Watkins chose Manhattan

Because it is in a great location from which the city's attractions are easily accessible -- steps off FifthAvenue between Flatiron, just to the south; Murray Hill, a block to the east; and Midtown, whose southern tip begins four blocks to the north. It's in the center of the Persian rug district, two blocks south of Korea Town and four blocks north of Madison Square Park.

What makes this apartment unique

A clean, quiet, calm, orderly and safe place of refuge that is within walking distance of many of New York's attractions.

Map

Walk to the lights of Times Square, the clubs of Greenwich Village, the restaurants of the Flatiron District, the galleries of Chelsea. Doubtless the best location you could find to have access to all that New York has to offer.

Living like a New Yorker

  • 4 of 5

Nice studio in older building, conveniently located. Clean and well-stocked, although I would not attempt major cooking in the tiny kitchen. Owner helpful and friendly. Steep 4th floor walkup with narrow staircase not suitable for mobility impaired and a struggle with heavy luggage. Street noise can be problematic, particularly at the moment with major construction right next door.

Owner's Response: All true, though worth noting that the construction workers call it quits during the afternoon.

We were thrilled!

  • 5 of 5

Tom's place is clean, spacious, with lots of light, and the location is great. The bed was very comfortable too. We would stay there again.

Lovely home in the big city

  • 4 of 5

Tom was very helpful before our arrival with a good detailed email that made our arrival very smooth and he responded to our questions very quickly. The apartment is clean and spacious. The bed is extremely comfortable. I really appreciated having a kitchen for morning tea and fruit. One negative thing was it was quite noisy in the morning with construction workers and traffic but its also NYC and that comes with the territory and Sunday morning was quiet. Couldn't beat the location. We barely needed to use the subway because we were so central and it was so easy to walk to everything we wanted to see and do. Will definitely look Tom up again for future trips to the big apple.

Great apartment in great location

  • 4 of 5

Had a great stay at Tom's place. Loved the location. Bed and pillows were great. Host gave great instructions and was there if needed. Would recommend again. Only negative is that it is on Street side and Street can be noisy - ear plugs worked great.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your thoughtful review. The fact that the apartment faces the street means that it can be more noisy than a rear-facing apartment would be. The street-facing location is typically far less noisy than it would be if facing the avenue, which is more heavily travelled. But, as the advertisement notes, there is a construction project next door and it can be noisy during the day. (Construction ends late in the afternoon, so normal sleeping hours should not be affected).

Nice place. Clean. Had everything we needed. Close to lots of stuff. Second door into the building was a little tricky at first but no big deal.

Very comfortable and complete apartment. Highly recommend!

  • 5 of 5

I was my wife and son for 3 days in Tom's apartment.

We liked the comfort, the complete equipment, the excellent location, the impeccable cleanliness that was the apartment and the service that Tom provided.

I would certainly recommend anyone interested in staying at Tom's property!

He is a great host and totally committed to his customers.

Another time I'd stay with Tom for sure.
