Ocean Beach is a fun, friendly, relaxing place where people are free to walk around to go shopping, to the beach or dining. People are very friendly here, and there is a laid back atmosphere like no other that we have found.
This bungalow is close to everything that San Diego has to offer. Lots of things are going on at any time in San Diego, and this place is centrally located. The beach is only steps away.
Living here for the past 6 months has been a real dream come true in so many ways. Thanks for making this possible Julie & Jerome-
See you again-Tej Kerhonkson, NY
Julie and Jerome were amazing hosts for our long-term stay in Ocean Beach. Julie met us at the door when we arrived (even though we were late) and was always just a phone call or text away if we needed her. Jerome was handy and helpful with anything we needed fixed during our stay (which wasn't much of anything). Both were welcoming, friendly, and made us feel right at home, even setting up DVR for us before we arrived!
The condo is pretty small, however, the location cannot be beat. Literally half a block from the beach, in the heart of OB, less than half a mile to all the local restaurants and little beach shops you could ask for. (We recommend OB Noodle House, Nico's Mexican Food, Cafe Bella, Surfrider Pizza, and Wonderland for the sunset toasts!) Parking is street parking only, but even with working nights and weekly street sweeping, I never had a problem finding a spot.
We stayed from late September to mid January and the condo only got really warm the first week we were there when it was 100+ degree weather. They do have ceilings fans and a portable fan for when it does get hot. The property was large enough for two people who love each other :) but I wouldn't recommend having a ton of guests over, unless you're going to be roaming around outside.
We loved staying at Julie and Jerome's place! Definitely can't be beat if you're looking to live close to the ocean.
I liked it a lot! they really do have everything there that you'll need to enjoy a week at the beach. We had planned a week of going on day trips across southern CA, but wound up barely leaving Ocean Beach.
I wouldn't worry about the airplane noise, it slows down during the afternoons and stops at night. Plus the local papers said the FAA & the city just had meetings on re-routing some of the flight paths and they were optimistic about some noise reduction happening. Overall the apartment was very quiet. l would suggest as others have that the couch be looked at, it's not the best to sit on much less sleep on.
I'd rent it again if I ever get to that part of the US in the future. ,
Great location in Ocean Beach. Close to restaurants and beach. The property was very clean and well-maintained. The owners are hospitable and have thought of everything. Parking can be a bit of a challenge but not insurmountable. We can't wait to go back!
The property is misrepresented as one that can accommodate 4 people. I checked with the owner and she said that it was adequate but was much too small. I even asked about pets and there were no red flags. Once we got there, the place was obviously too small and not fit for a dog. We would have reconsidered had we known. The neighbors were unfriendly and inconsiderate because of the dog and there were cats everywhere. That made it worse for our dog and we found it difficult to prevent barking. The place was very hot without airconditioning and we were told that leaving the windows open would cool things down. But that made the barking even louder and disturbed people around us. The landlord told us to not worry about cleanup before we left and then gave "US" a poor rating for cleanliness. The only saving grace was the location to the beach and walking distance to restaurants etc. I would not stay here again. It was not DOG FRIENDLY!!!! and should not be sold as such. I don't want to bring my dog on vacation and leave him indoor locked in stuffy tiny apartment.
Really enjoyed our stay. Parking is tough at times. The duplex indoor temp was a little warm for us. Very quiet!
My wife and I along with our dog do this trip to OB every summer. We just love the OB vibe and of course enjoy Dog Beach as much as our dog. That said, we have stayed in many nice properties in OB but like this one the best. Here's why; The location is as good as it gets without being total ocean front. Also, the place is absolutely spotless and comes with so many nice add-ons like great internet, cable TV, boogie boards, etc. Here's the best part....the owners of the property are absolutely first class people and met us as soon as we arrived and had also saved us a parking spot on the street in front of the house. Unbelievable! We will be back. In fact we will be booking it very soon. That good!

Only five blocks north of the Ocean Beach Pier and downtown Ocean Beach's main street, (Newport Avenue)
Many people do not even use a vehicle, they find that just walking or using the bicycles is more fun.
Don't miss the farmers market every Wednesday evening, and check out the surfing competitions going on frequently. Also there are many festivals that occur throughout the year.
If you do choose to drive around, downtown Gaslamp is 15 minutes away, and the airport is only 10 minutes away. The embarcadero is fun to walk around and the aircraft carrier stationed there, the USS Midway is now a wonderful museum with self guided tours. Little Italy is another great section of town for dining and walking around. San Diego is so packed with different neighborhoods that are each unique and offer a different type of experience you will want to return again and again to experience it all.
