About Ilaeka Villa

I bought this property when it came up for sale as it borders my family's beautiful Cumberland Plateau farm. This mid century cabin was then totally renovated and redecorated. I worked as an international consultant and lived in Paris France for 15 years prior to moving back to TN to start the 'country home' style vacation rentals on our farm. My father 'Papa Phil' who lives at the farmhouse nearby helps me manage the property and does the popular catering services we offer to guests. He is a retired IBM executive and he cooks from scratch using only the freshest ingredients.

Ilaeka Villa purchased this cottage in 2007

Why Ilaeka Villa chose Tennessee

Family & Guests who have stayed with us in the past always commented on the beauty of the Cumberland Plateau area and how nice it was to get away from the crowds of Gatlinburg and enjoy a peaceful rural getaway! There are many waterfalls, rivers and lakes in the area and the Cumberland Trail State Park hikes are all around us. The Cumberland Plateau is rich in history, musical culture and this location was ideally situated in eastern Tennessee. The perfect place to 'relax, explore, unwind' away from the stress of city life.

What makes this cottage unique

Romantic Upscale Mountain View Country Cottage on 145 acres offering private hot tub on deck, indoor spa tub, indoor gas fireplace, eco-friendly B&B style amenities, outdoor cowboy style fire-pit and gas grill. Ideal for honeymoons, anniversaries, country weddings, family fun, nature lovers, week vacations, reunions & spur of the moment long weekend get-aways. Pamper yourself in the country !

Guestbook comments from the owner

Several of our guests have signed our guestbook in the cottage but not on the website so here are a few highlights:

"Chill was the word of the day, smores and sausages around the firepit, walk to the "beach" (pond), everything was great. We even saw a deer walk right through the back yard.. Had a great time!" (July 2008 - Talpesh Family & friends-Florida)

""We came here seeking time away from a hectic lifestyle. We found wonderful natural peaceful and satisfying accomodations...early mornings running on your hills (which we will tell people back home "mountains", middle of the day at the pond pulling in the "big one", rest and peace of cool nights... We enjoyed visiting with our hosts and experiencing the great country breakfast. First Class accomodation with much more than we expected." (Aug 2008-The Holder Family-Indiana)

"... God blessed us with your lovely getaway cottage. A dream come true for us. We hope to visit again real soon...not just to celebrate our 65th and 32nd mutual anniversaies, but just to relax and enjoy the serenity and peace found here." (Sept 08 - Bonnie and Doug, Bea and Fred - Ohio)

"We always wanted to find a getaway that was truly relaxing and we could call "Our place"... where a lot of special memories were made. You thought of everything! The warm feel of the PineCone Cottage was the perfect touch. We will be back and we will send others. Thank you for opening this wonderful place" (Oct 08 -The Dingwalls - Tennessee)

Spectacular Find!!!!!

  • 5 of 5

After the tragic Wildfires in Gatlinburg and Pigeon Forge my husband and I were forced to make last minute changes to our 2 night getaway. My husband started searching areas closer to us and came upon this "Magical Place"! Our number one goal was privacy and just being able to be together on no schedule in a wonderful and scenic environment. Oh.......a Hot Tub was a priority too! WOW did he ever find a gem that we never would have known existed. In no way do the pictures do it justice. This is by far one of our most favorite places we have EVER stayed. The hosts are amazing and Ilaeka used her world travels and sense of old world charm to create this adorable farmhouse and all it's special treasures. The views are spectacular and the hot tub is delightful. It's a Hot Springs Spa and not your typical hot tub in a rental. Never have I been to a place that had everything and then some things I did not even know we'd need. We had an amazing 2 nights! My only hesitation in submitting this review is purely selfish...... I don't want it to become so popular that we have difficulty making a reservation next time. Thank you Ilaeka for creating and sharing this special place with us. You have not seen the last of us! We can't wait to return!

Owner's Response: Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! We are so glad you found a close-to-home retreat and appreciate your kind words. We've tried to make a countryside haven for folks to reconnect in life and sounds like we hit the mark! We furnished the cottage with lots of special finds and tried to give it the feel of staying in someone's country home. Look forward to having you back our way and wishing you wonderful holiday season.

Wonderful Getaway!

  • 5 of 5

Pine Cone cottage was delightful. We were absolutely pleased when we opened the door. It truly was special with everything your group could possibly need and then more.... Cookies / chocolates / fresh eggs / churned butter / gourmet coffee beans / & wonderful homemade bread (thanks Papa Phil) & the best Cherry Jam. Be sure to order an Artisan pizza from Papa Phil - wonderful dinner! Surprised to find lovely, fragrant goats milk soap and warm robes for all four of us. The setting is lovely and they have thought of everything to make your stay comfortable and welcome. Beds were comfy and the cottage had wonderful water(It was purified with no chlorine), cottage was very clean. The area was near several hiking areas and waterfalls. Kitchen was fully equipped and we didn't want for anything. We never even missed the WiFi and actually never used the living room---- although the morning we left we realized what we had missed! We just didn't have enough time in the area - hope to go back as soon as we can. Thank you to our gracious hostess and host. Absolutely wonderful cottage to stay in.

Owner's Response: We loved meeting you all and glad you enjoyed your stay. We are looking forward to a return visit next year. Papa thanks you too and glad you enjoyed his popular made from scratch pizza! Our optional country welcome basket offers many add-ons (farm fresh eggs, hand churned butter, homemade jam sampler and home baked bread) to our standard welcome basket which comes with cookies, chocolates and TN Roasted organic coffee. Everyone loves Papa Phil, my father and co-owner who at 85 years old is a rock star with our guests. We always try to source locally and the goat milk soaps are made nearby on a family farm. Many guests comment on our water quality and how wonderful it is: we have a European standard whole house purifier system which allows you to drink purified water from the tap and shower in chlorine free water. We try to pay attention to all the little details to make your stay a truly pampered countryside visit and sounds like we did! See you in 2017!

Outstanding in every last detail!

Upon arrival, I was mesmorized by the beauty and location of this cottage, inside and out! The decor and finishing touches that owner, Ilaeka and her father Phil, put into Pinecone Cottage #191274, are very welcoming. Clean! Clean! Clean! You need not bring all of your extras from home, because this cottage is stocked with everything, right down to the bug spray. We will be back soon, and we will travel with much less! All you need is your clothing and food. Do, be sure to order a loaf of Papa Phil's homeade Italian bread before your arrival. You won't be disappointed. Plenty of beautiful scenery and site seeing withing the grounds, or just a short drive away.

Very Relaxing!!

  • 4 of 5

Aaahhh!!! We had such a relaxing weekend. Especially enjoyed sitting on the back deck, the hot tub & the fire pit (especially since all the firewood was provided)!!! Would definitely recommend the cottage to anyone wanting to stay in the Crossville area. This was our second visit at the cottage & we'll probably stay there again when we're in the area to go to the Cumberland County Playhouse.

Owner's Response: Always glad to have you all with us! Many of our guests love the nationally acclaimed local Cumberland Playhouse in Crossville! We've even had some of the actors spend time here at the cottage during their breaks between productions! Love their plays! Hope to see you all again soon.

More like home than home

  • 5 of 5

This cabin has everything you should want during your stay. The kitchen is fully stocked, I was able to comfortably prepare every meal we had planned without wanting. There are board games to choose from. The TV has plenty of channels to watch. The hot tub was clean and has a lovely view out towards the rest of the farm and the mountains. The bedroom and bathrooms were very nice and comfortable, there's even plenty of quality shampoo and conditioner along with locally made goat's milk soap. For those with dogs the back porch is fully enclosed, so no need to build your own barrier when enjoying the hot tub or just the view from the porch. This cabin somehow felt more like home than our own home in some ways. We will definitely be returning.

The hiking trail on the property is very beautiful and peaceful, it's nice knowing that you're maybe only going to run into a couple of people assuming that the other 2 guests decide to hike them that same day and time. We didn't partake in it, but the fishing pond seemed plenty large to make for an enjoyable time fishing. They took plenty of time accumulating instructions and literature about the cabin property and the local area. We made the trek to Piney falls a couple of miles away and enjoyed a beautiful hike in/out and enjoyed the 90' waterfall that you can walk behind! Overall the best cabin we've stayed at of the half dozen or so in the last couple of years, we'll definitely be returning!

Owner's Response: We so enjoyed meeting your family when you stopped by our farmhouse office during your hikes around the trails! We hear over and over that families (and couples) get to know each other again doing the simple things in life available at the farm (hot tub soaking, star gazing, campfires, hiking, fishing). A time to deconnect, enjoy Mother nature's beauty and talk to each other again! Glad you were able to hike to Piney Falls as well as it is spectacular this time of year! We look forward to seeing you next year.
