About Jessica Breazeale

Ski 5 is a family owned home. JC and Earline Edwards built the house with their four children and 10 grandchildren in mind. The Edwards' family has owned property on Lake Gaston for over 30 years. The entire family has enjoyed many summer memories at the house. A favorite memory is of JC and his 4 children all skiing behind their boat one summer. Trying to get 5 people up on skis at the same time can be quite a challenge!

Needs to be cleaned!!!!

  • 2 of 5

We stayed here with 16 of us. There was plenty of space and it was nice having the two kitchens to cook. The location of the house was nice too and close to the beach which was great as we had family members who could not get on and off the dock to access the water.

Our biggest complaint was the cleanliness. All of the bathroom showers and tubs were very dirty. The bathroom by the kitchen smelled really bad of urine. We had to clean all of them. The kitchen downstairs had to be cleaned, the counter and microwave were dirty and the oven was not working. Oh and the fridgerator is still not fixed as was mentioned in previous reviews. The house needs to be power washed desperately. We notified the owners of the above and were told we would receive half of our cleaning fee back. It is such a shame that this house is not taken care of properly as this would have been a great spot to come back to.

Over all we had a nice time. We would definitely go back to Lake Gaston just not to this house.

Lake Gaston was great, property has potential but needs work.

  • 3 of 5

It was my family's first trip to Lake Gaston and we really had a good time. The property had plenty of space and having a 2nd kitchen and living room was really nice. We also used the community beach/swimming area (about a 10 minute walk) almost every day. Our kids loved it! My brother and nephew enjoyed fishing from the dock and we spent a lot of time on the spacious deck.

I agree with many previous reviews that the house needs a good thorough cleaning both inside and out. To be honest, the cleanliness was an initial turn off especially given having to pay a cleaning fee. In addition the downstairs oven doesn't work properly (only broils) and the downstairs fridge door is very difficult to close. We really enjoyed the ping pong table but most of the paddles were coming unglued. The boat house needs to be cleaned as well. We didn't use anything in it because there were empty beer cans piled up and even the light switch was just hanging from the wall.

Overall we had a good time but will probably be looking at other properties in the future. A little more attention to detail with the property and overall cleanliness could make this place really great.

Great water sports location

  • 4 of 5

We were looking for a place to enjoy the water (skiing, paddle boarding, etc.), and Ski 5 did not disappoint. It is located at the end of a long inlet and there was virtually zero boat traffic the whole weekend. It is relatively shallow, but as long as you don't go further north than the dock and stay toward the middle it will be at least 4 feet deep. There's are a few stumps near the dock, but if you come in straight you will miss them all. The house was odd (probably due to additions) and fairly dated, but perfectly suited for our needs. There weren't enough sheets for all of the beds, so come prepared with your own. There was a faint odor of cat litter on the first floor, perhaps the owner can take care of that. Overall, and especially for the price, we were pleased with the rental and had a great time. Btw, check out the Shady Shack waterfront restaurant near the bridge.
