Our names are Marsal & Albert. We moved to Hawaii in 2005 from Northern California. We are in property management and real estate. We love to explore the island as much as possible, and share our island experiences with our guests.
Albert & Marsal purchased this house in 2004
After coming to the Big Island several times, and looking at many areas, we decided we loved the climate of our area and the breathtaking views. Almost always sunny and not nearly the amount of humidity as other parts of the island. Plus, the nightly breezes made it very comfortable.
We like the location of our place because it is out of the hustle and bustle of city life and close to many great beaches and attractions. It is ideal if you would like to explore the island. You can choose to go to Hilo or Kona for the day. The ocean view is awesome. You can see to Kona and sometimes Maui. The seclusion and tranquility is wonderful. The sunsets are unforgetable and the stars are epic.

Don & I wish to thank you for the use of your Lovely "Cottage". It is very comfortabel and handy to our kids' house.
We will no doubt be seeing you from time to time.
We were only able to stay a few days in this charming little house in the hills but it felt like home from the minute we arrived. The floor plan is open with a wonderful peaked ceiling surrounded by louvered windows that we opened to take advantage of the cool breezes. The kitchen was fully appointed, the grounds were lush and well kept, the bed was SOOOO comfortable, and the bathroom was GREAT--very roomy with a full-size tub and even a stacked washer/dryer tucked away in a closet! The location gets you away from the resorts and the busier areas of town--a bit of a drive from the airport but a PERFECT location from which to explore the island. We would love to return for a longer stay!
The house is cute, very small (~500 square feet) and says it sleeps four. We had two adults and a small child and it was TIGHT. The pull-out futon in the living room was pretty darn uncomfortable, even for a child. We knew the location before booking, but didn't realize the closest grocery store was 30 minutes away - there literally isn't any sort of store or restaurant within 30 minutes. For some, this is great, but it is something to note for sure!
We expected to be able to use WiFi and the service was so terrible that we couldn't even load email - we talked to the owner who was very responsive and it improved slightly, but we were unable to stream or download anything for the entire length of our stay. We were told this is just the level of WiFi service they normally have. Another thing we just wish we would've known before booking, but know it isn't an issue for everyone.
We liked all of the extras (cooler, snorkel stuff, etc) that were there for us to use and enjoyed the views from the patio. We found a variety of great beaches and liked the peace and quiet the house provided. Thanks!
PIneapple Express was super comfortable, well appointed, great location - and that view! It was really convenient to have the fisherman on the corner at the hwy selling fresh fish. The ahi and the ono were super fresh and delicious. We always bought enough for sashimi appitizers and dinner. 🍍🍍🍍🍍🍍
Albert & Marsal have created a beautiful place to lay back and relax with just enough comfort and a hot tub. We enjoyed to stay.
Staying in the Pineapple Express will slow you down and make you think about how people want to be in a hurry or want to be around a bunch of resort tourists. If you're a visitor and not just a tourist, this is a great place to stay. It's a ways from things (closest real grocery is in Captain Cook [Choice Mart] about 45 minutes away) but if you want some peace and quiet and be generally situated to visit around the south Kona area, the "Express" is for you. About an hour to the hustle bustle of Kailua-Kona and the airport, about and hour and a half to the Volcanos National Park. And happily only 10 minutes to the nice little family beach at the village of Miloli'i. Not a lot of sand at that beach but some nice snorkeling and interaction with the local Hawaiian population. Go to the local grocery, Fujihara's, about 20 minutes away for basic needs including Kona beers and nice check out gal. The Express is very nicely equipped with all the stuff you expect including a clothes washer/dryer and decent internet connection. But again the best thing about the location is the privacy and quiet (except for the local wandering rooster population that will help you rise in the mornings!). It's very nicely sized for a couple; no more. Safe and affordable. Good base of ops for south Kona. Mahalo nui loa!
nice house and a good location the house was very clean the shower went cold wile you took a shower had to mess with shower handle to get it to work the hot tub would of been ok but did not wont to use it it had sand in the seats and hair particles floating in it also but other then that it was one of the best places you could find it just needed some maintance
Snorkeling, scuba diving, spear fishing, shore fishing, deep sea fishing, 4X4 trailing, Volcanoes National Park, whale watching, star gazing
