Amazing time /Amazing Host's and views cant be beat

  • 5 of 5

The pictures do not do the view justice. When you walk into the condo, the entire front is all windows looking out over the ocean. My husband and I did three nights there, driving from San Jose. I do recommend a 4-wheel drive around that area if renting a car. Amy was wonderful. She met us upon arrival and was wonderful, hospitable and welcoming. As we say in the south, bless her heart, she brought me some coffee as we had not stopped by the store yet. The Villa was spacious and had every luxury of home! The only bad part is was it was so nice, we never left it to go to the beach! The splash pool was awesome so we just decompressed from our corporate lives, had drinks at the villa and relaxed. The beach was right there, a walk down the hill, but we were enjoying the view from the Villa! They were great recommending places for dinner and lunch. The Jolly Rogers restaurant was awesome. Great burgers, best I have had in ages. We went to Por Que No twice, also amazing. Storm and the boys were there and very welcoming. Thank you Amy and Storm for making our first stop in CR so incredible. I would go back to Dominical and Amy and Storm's villa in a heartbeat. Thanks again!! PS go to the waterfalls on horseback, it was AMAZING!

Great location but needs some work

  • 2 of 5

The property has a beautiful view and it's right across the road from a nice beach. The home itself is in disrepair. The soap dish in master shower is broke off. There's a wiring short in several of the light switches. A few ceiling fans don't work. The screen door for 2nd bedroom was lying on the patio floor. The air conditioner in 2nd bedroom would not turn on. There were essential supplies such as toilet paper not provided even to last a day or 2. The property owners were very inattentive. I requested a light bulb for front porch and it took a few days to get that. It is very dark at night by the way and it's a challenge to get to the driveway in the dark. The stairway is very unsafe. It spirals and since it's tile it's easy to slip on with no handrail so I hurt my left foot while I was going downstairs. I hate to sound like a complainer nut it is what it us. It seems as though no one checks the house for needed maintenance. It desperately needs a coat of paint. It would be good to have window coverings for front sliding glass door to keep cool when leaving during the day. None of the locks on screen doors work and most of the screens have holes in them. Since this house was not cheap we really expected it to be in excellent condition. I hope this feedback helps to get house in better condition for future guests.

Beautiful stay in paradise!

  • 5 of 5

This "home away from home" was awesome! Well maintained, beautiful view, private patio and pool - perfect for our family of four. Definitely recommend renting a four wheel drive not only for the villa but for enjoying the surrounding areas. Storm and Amy were wonderful hosts and provided tons of great services including booking some tours for us and recommending places to visit and to eat. The hospitality and amenities were just what we were looking for on our long weekend away.

Amazing Time! Thank you Amy and Storm!

  • 5 of 5

We had the privilege of staying at the Villa two weeks ago and all the reviews you've read thus far are spot on! Upon arrival I was a little frazzled from the drive from SJO and when we walked through the door, the view literally took my breath away! Simply amazing. The Villa location is perfect for access to all activities which Amy was an absolute pro in setting up. We did the Mangrove Kayak tour with our guide Victor which was very relaxing (kids aged 10 and 13 really enjoyed it too). I thought the waves and caves might be a little too much for the 10 year old... Next time! We then did the white water rafting at Rifiki Lodge. Again, another fantastic adventure. Just us four, two rafts and three guides. One in a kayak because we were venturing upstream which had been closed off due to poor road conditions but the wood company had just "fixed" the roads. The drive was as exciting as the rafting :) Guides for that were Randol and Kenneth and their love of country and all it offers was very apparent (I'll have a more detailed review on Trip Advisor). Lastly was the waterfall tour with Drew. All I can say is DO IT! I don't want to spoil what it actually entails cause it's super cool! Drew (Andrew) and Juan made for an incredible tour. Now, back to the Villa: The pool, unlike quite a few in the development, has lighter tiles so the water stays cool and I can't put into words how much that means. You'll see! Storm and Amy have this unit rented out quite steadily so there were a couple of small things like a leaky AC unit and some exterior lights out but when you see where the location is and what it must take to actually get a service tech out there, you'll get it. Those items did not affect our stay in the slightest, just an FYI. The kitchen was well stocked, bed's super comfy, AC worked great in all rooms and the patio and Weber grill were awesome! Oh, we did drive to the waterfall which is really close to the house. But, it was dry so maybe ask Amy before you walk up there. So instead we hiked up to Nauyaca Falls which I highly recommend but go early if in the dry season cause it's HOT! The walk down to the beach is pretty easy but the walk home is pretty tough due to the incline of the access road but we found it easier to pack the car and drive down then you can hit the many other spectacular beaches that are within 30mins if you're so inclined. You gotta hit the Jolly Roger too! Went twice :) Thanks Zbel Family!

5 stars for Dominical, Villa Tranquilla, and Amy & Storm

  • 5 of 5

If you're thinking of vacationing in Costa Rica and you don't want formal tours and hotels, let me give you three reasons that this is the right property. First, the location. The village of Dominical, Playa Dominicalito, and the nearby town of Uvita offer the beach, zip lining, ATV tours, surfing, horse back riding, and hanging out with the locals. All the activities that make the trip to Costa Rica exciting. Also, grocery stores and restaurants of all kinds are nearby. Second, the villa. All the comforts you want, a marvelous view for relaxing, and a pool for cooling off. All in a secure area on the hillside between the ocean and the lush foliage of the rain forest. Third, the owners. Amy and Storm were extremely helpful in making our trip perfect. Always available with recommendations for the best in zip lining, jungle tours, canyoning guides, or restaurants. It's like having good friends to text whenever you have a big decision to make. And yes, an evening at their restaurant Jolly Roger is a must do! We've traveled a lot, and stayed in numerous vacation properties. I simply can't imagine one better to enjoy all that makes Costa Rica so special.

Great house with great location lots to do nearby.

  • 5 of 5

Excellent vacation house with great view. Lots of beaches and activities nearby along with great restaurants all within 20-30 min drive of the house. Owners Storm and Amy helped getting us info on the area and activities to do. There is also a awesome swimming hole with a waterfall within walking distance of the house. Had a great time in this laid back relaxed community that's very welcoming and friendly. Can't wait to revisit this area of Costa Rica.

Car: recommended

Dominical is a funky little surfing and fishing town 30 minutes south of Manuel Antonio. I have traveled extensively throughout Costa Rica and when I visited the Dominical area I immediately knew that this was the spot for me. I hope it will be for you too!
