|Minimum Stay||5 - 10 nights|
Experience the peace and solitude that surrounds this Mediterranean style villa perched above Smuggler's Cove with expansive views of Jost Van Dyke and beyond. Casa Luna has been designed for outdoor living for those who love the breezes of the gentle tradewinds and the calming sounds of the sea. As you ascend from the pergola covered carport to the main level of the villa, the slate stairs meander around the large volcanic rocks covered with local orchids and bromeliads.
The patio is complete with a covered Al Fresco dining area, living area, and a spot for sunbathing just steps from the large pool with a unique crescent moon and mermaid glass mosaic bottom. To the side of the patio, a large stainless steel grill and full outdoor bath are found.
As you step inside the villa through a large, arched doorway the gourmet kitchen with 6 burner commercial stove is extremely well equipped for all your cooking needs. The kitchen opens to the comfortable living area with Satellite TV, DVD, CD player, a 5 speaker sound system and an extrensive DVD collection for those lazy evenings.
Beyond the living area, a pergola covered patio with dining table and chairs offers more views of the sea and sunset and leads you to the queen bedroom with ensuite bath. A winding staircase from the kitchen leads upstairs to the master suite.
The master suite boasts a king size 4 poster bed, a walk in closet and full bath with a river rock bottom shower. A balcony sits off of the front of the bedroom, a large patio with 2 teak lounges is set behind the bedroom and a large deck, that is wonderful for sunset cocktails is located on the west side of the bedroom.
There is a newly added downstairs complete with private deck, entrance and private driveway. It includes a kitchenette, full bath, and a tropical hardwood king size platform bed. It connects to the living area of the main house via spiral staircase.
Casa Luna is a very unique and delightful living experience. Enjoy the pool and expansive outdoor living spaces in complete privacy, or take a few minutes to head down to one of the nicest beaches in the Caribbean.
My sister-in-law and I were guests at Casa Luna from 11/1310-11/20/10. This was my 23rd year as a guest at the BVI. My husband and I have stayed at various villas over the years. Your villa was the best so far and I want to personally let you know how much I enjoyed it. The house is exceptional. Obviously the view is one of the high points, but the architecture and the furnishings cetainly add to the overall effect. The last (which should be the first) item in the praise category is the PEOPLE. JC was just super, so kind, helpful, patient, and friendly. We were sorry that we didn't get a chance to say goodbye to him. Diane was a sweetie. Trudi was very patient and accommodating during all the planning. I regret we were not able to connect while she and I were there.
If my sister-in-law is able to return with me, Casa Luna will be our first choice. This was her first time in the BVI and she was awestruck.
My husband and I spent a week at Graceann's beautiful home in January. The house reminds one of an Italian villa with interesting furnishings and artifacts. The views from all three decks are stunning and watching sunsets is a great way to end the day,
There is everything one would need to cook a gourmet meal in the kitchen. the bathrooms are well-appointed with thick towels; the bed was very comfortable with lovely linens. There is something magical about falling asleep to the sound of the surf.
It is a short drive or walk to Smuggler's Cove where the water was clear and warm. But you could also spend the day at the house pool which offers views of the cove and is surrounded by colorful plants and palm trees.
My husband and I would highly recommend CasaLuna for it's beauty and location.
GraceAnn is a wonderful hostess who goes out of her way to make sure you have a relaxing vacation.
Beautiful home surrounded by gorgeous views. Every room could practically be turned in to outdoor living space -- there were so many doors and windows that could be opened so you could enjoy the breezes and views all day/night long. The kitchen is very well stocked with a pretty good-sized grocery store not too far away. We thoroughly enjoyed the pool every single evening. Spent the days traveling the beautiful island and would come home to lounge in the beautiful house and pool. Cannot wait to go back!
What a wonderful place, Tortola in the BVI is a little piece of England in the sunny Caribbean, the journey from the UK is pretty horrendous, but once you have recovered, it is so worth while, please UK Foreign and Colonial office here in the UK don't introduce direct flights, because what keeps Tortola special and unspoilt is that it is just that little more difficult to get to, flight to Antigua with British Airways, very civilised, and then we tackle Leeward Islands Air Transport LIAT, to fly on to Beef Island, but least said about LIAT the better. But all worth while, the islanders are lovely friendly people, there are good restaurants, with no dreadful chains like KFC or MacDonald. Prices in US dollars terms seem quite expensive, but, if you are translating that into GB pounds they are not bad The beach below the villa must be one of the best on the planet, and while we were there there were never more than 20 max others on the beach, lots of activities to do we did a day out on a boat with Debs who come from Surrey in England and who lives in a villa at the end of Casa Luna's drive and we did the canopy tour, a must if you have a head for heights.
But, you do need to arrange a 4 wheel drive vehicle to negotiate the well how shall I put it very rural road up to the villa
warning to UK visitors, as the BVI is British they drive on the left, but most of the hire vehicles are US drive ie left hand drive and most automatic, just to fuel our British view that Americans can not drive manual cars, worth bearing in mind, lol
God, anyway enough of all that, as for the villa, a wonderful place, well equipped, I am preparing to sell my soul to the Devil
if he will provide me enough money to buy the place from Graceann
We just returned from our stay at Casa Luna and our all too short visit to the BVIs. Casa Luna is simply THE perfect place for a relaxing, peaceful vacation. We enjoyed that it was remote enough to be private and quiet, but so close to the West End and even the other coves along the north coast - Long Bay, Cane Garden Bay, etc. Definitely take our advice and the suggestion of other reviewers and get a Jeep for this fun adventure that awaits you. The roads are rough and windy, littered with hairpin uphill turns, but it's such a fun ride with the most amazing views - you have to do it! Casa Luna itself is an amazing home with all of the amenities you could possibly need. We enjoyed the pool floats and snorkel gear being available - very convenient and all in great working order. The outdoor living space was perfect for lounging over morning coffee or an evening cocktail with plenty of shade if desired. The open air kitchen is very well equipped and we took advantage of the beautiful setting and cooked lunch and dinner several nights (great outdoor grill too) There were 4 of us, so we used the two upstairs bedrooms and it was perfect having our own spaces. The furnishing throughout Casa Luna are comfortable and clean and make you feel right at home. Graceann was extremely accommodating during our booking process and Janet was wonderful in getting us to the villa and settled in. There was even a bottle of iced champagne waiting when we arrived (to celebrate our 20 & 15 year anniversaries) which was an extra thoughtful touch! The only problem with our stay was that it was too short - we'd love to come back! Enjoy!
It's difficult to articulate all the ways in which Casa Luna fulfilled all our expectations for a peaceful, comfortable, adventurous vacation. We loved the rugged, somewhat remote, location of this beautiful villa. There were only two of us, and we utilized the lovely secluded, upstairs master suite, but Casa Luna could easily have accommodated two other couples. We cherished the ability to open all the doors and windows, with their Mediterranean rough-hewn wood and brushed iron hardware, cook in the open, dive in the perfect cliffside pool, and then lounge in the sun or shade all day. Naturally, you will want to take advantage of the villa's proximity to gorgeous Smuggler's Bay. As the weather improved daily during our January stay, the snorkeling also improved. Definitely take everyone's recommendation to rent a 4WD vehicle, which at times might not even be enough to navigate the rutted, adventurous drive to/from Casa Luna. That occurred one day when the rains had rutted out the road, leaving another car stranded further down from us. So we walked down to the Harbor. We needed the exercise and loved doing this walk often, especially to get coffee from "Da Best Cup," which only stayed open until 2 p.m. each day. Don't miss their breakfasts. However, we mostly cooked/grilled and baked up at Casa Luna, as the kitchen is outfitted with every possible utensil, appliance, bowl or cookware you might need. Graceann was a gem to deal with, and we only hope to return someday soon to enjoy her son's professional cooking at the villa. What a pleasure it was to have found this place tucked away in paradise.
I had never been to Tortolla but I am certainly glad I decided to spend a week there! It was a lot of fun and all of the local Tortolla people were very friendly. Casa Luna was very beautiful with a great view of the surrounding area as you lounge around the pool. You can get to a pretty isolated and quite section of the beach with just a 5-10 minute walk. Casa Luna was also equipped with everything I needed to have a good time including a grill and snorkel gear. I really don't think you could go wrong with deciding to stay here during your vacation.
Casa Luna is located on the hillside above Smuggler's Cove Beach which is one of the prettiest white sand beaches in the British Virgin Islands. Snorkeling is excellent on both sides of Smuggler's and a white sand bottom covers the center of the bay for great swimming.
