Wall House (Casa do Muro).
This cottage is a spacious and tastefully restored two bedroom property leading off the main courtyard.
The accommodation, giving from a main entrance hall, comprises one twin-bedded room and a second double-bedded room, with a very large fully equipped bathroom with external window.
The combined living and dining room is well furnished, including a sofa-bed, and this leads to a small but complete kitchenette.
The main room has patio doors leading onto its private south facing terrace, with table and chairs and a hammock.
This in turn gives on to the garden and pool areas.
These two recently restored rural cottages are in a delightful country setting about 50 minutes north of Lisbon easily reached from the A1 motorway. The property has beautiful uninterrupted open country views to the South yet is located on the edge of a small hamlet with 2 cafés and a small shop only 100 metres away to the North; an ideal situation. There is an ample garden and you can also enjoy the fruit from the trees, when in season. There is a large swimming pool shared by both cottages, a sun deck area and a barbecue. There are several bicycles, a tennis table, croquet set and other equipment to add to the pleasure of your stay. Internet access is available – on request we will provide you with a pre-paid mobile broadband USB.
It is a great centre for touring, and Santarém (known as the Gothic capital) is 10km. to the South with plenty of shops, cinemas etc. There is a straight motorway link to the coast about 40 minutes away and good restaurants all around. Thecottage is fully licensed with the local Council under the Alojamento Local scheme which ensures compliance with safety standards.
Linen: House linen and towels are provided. Swimming pool/ beach towels are not provided.

The property was comfortable in all respects, and it's garden and swimming pool secluded and well looked after, and with extensive views of the surrounding area.
We had a fantastic time during our stay in Casa do Muro, a lovely house in a magnificent garden with great views. And of course the swimming pool ! The village is really small, but so quite, THE place to relax ! All the people of the village are so friendly, already the first evening they started to buy us a drink at Lisette's café. There are plenty of good restaurants in the neighbourhood at really low prices. Sinterra is ideal to discover a lovely part of Portugal : the Ribatejo region. We did a lot of trips and visited many lovely places.
We loved our stay in Casa do Muro and will certainly return to this lovely country ! I would recommend this to evevrybody !!!
Fam. Van Grunderbeeck - De Vel from Belgium
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Casa do Muro. The cottage is comfortable with a wonderful garden and pool with sweeping views of the countryside - very atmospheric. We particularly enjoyed staying in a non-touristy area as a contrast to our earlier stay in Lisbon which we also enjoyed enormously - the combination was perfect for getting to know various aspects of Portugal on this our first visit. While Sinterra is small and nobody speaks English, it has two tiny cafes with shops attached, bread delivery and great coffee! Despite being in the countryside, the drive from Lisbon is very easy and there are many great places to visit nearby such as Tomar, Obidos and Santarem. We had great traditional food in local restaurants too, especially suckling pig at Luis dos Leitoes in Portela Padeiras. The local wines were also excellent. The owner was extremely helpful, both before we arrived (thank you for the hair dryer Helena!) and afterwards and we were able to communicate very easily by email and phone. We had a great time. Thank you!
After a dull and rainful spring in Belgium, we really enjoyed the sun in Sinterra.
The stay in Casal do Inglès – Casa do muro was very relaxing and enjoyful. The
nice garden with astonishing view, the swimming pool which is big enough and a real
luxury, fruit falling from the trees, the silence,….all contributed to a successful holiday.
The house in itself has good beds, a big enough bathroom (powerstream of the water is
not high) , a living room and a fairly small kitchen. Eating outside on the terrace is the best
to do. As the direct area is not touristic, you can learn to know the real Portugese life.
On the other hand, a visit – like we did – to Santarem, Obidos, Alcobaca, Batalha, grutas de
Mira de Aire, Nazare and Peniche, Tomar, Lisbon, Constancia (Canoe trip) is possible without driving for hours.
Before, during and after the stay there is adequate information from the owner and the neighbourhood is friendly.
Fam. Desmedt - Plovie, Brugge, Belgium
This was our first visit to Portugal and we wanted somewhere quiet to live. The Villa was exactly as described and perfect. It was clean, well maintained and simply stunning! It is set in absolutely beautiful Portuguese countryside, yet only an hour from Lisbon.
All the e-mailed instructions, prior to arrival were easy to follow and explained exactly the location and situation for when we arrived.
The owners left a really useful Villa handbook which describes the best local restaurants and the other local places to visit and surrounding towns and villages. It also gave local inforation on Cafes and bread deliveries.
Swimming pool was fantastic as were the fruit trees that we were invited to help ourselves to!
One final word - Lisbon Zoo is simply awesome - if you have a spare day, you should visit it - we saw an advert for it on the plane in and were captivated.
This property is highly recommended...... We can't wait to go back! A true Portuguese Paradise.........
Very confortable cottage with a lovely garden with great swimming pool
The barn is a good idea to play ping-pong
We appreciate to take breafast or lunch/ dinner in the garden just before the house
Very quiet region, not too far from Lisboa
The property is in the Ribatejo region, on the Tagus river north of Lisbon. It is known for its farming, horses, bull-fighting and wine production but is also a region steeped in historical monuments.
The countryside is ideal for walking and cycling. This is not an area of mass tourism. The people in this region are very honest and friendly and you are assured of a warm welcome.
The regional food is excellent.
There are open markets every weekend somewhere close by, and the towns have large supermarkets and all the other likely needs for your stay. 4030/AL
