Perfect place to relax

  • 5 of 5

We had a week holiday with 2 kids and loved the house and especially the swimming pool. The house is full with extra's like table tennis, big BBQ and place to eat outside, table football. We enjoyed every morning a 'bika' at the local bar. Perfect stay to get away from a busy life. Helen is very helpful and response quickly.

Perfect holiday in fabulous country side setting

  • 4 of 5

We stayed for 3 weeks is this lovely rural setting. We enjoyed all our meals on the lovely terrace with 180 ° view. The kitchen rather small but wel equipped.

The pool is great (no chlorines) and just perfect for our daily workout ! :-)

It is great to walk through the rolling hills behind the garden to Romeira in the morning or to enjoy it as an early morning run. Santarem is a lovely city and you should not fail to visit all the miradores and take your time to walk it all.

There are so many interesting places to visit within 2 hours drive. We could

not do all of them unfortunately. Caldas da Rainha, ceramics, shopping, nice

buzzling atmoshpere, Evora, Elvas Unesco classified cities, Obidos, the Atlantic

ocean, Foz do Arelho, the beaches near Comporta, driving through the marvelous county side of the Ribatejo and the Alentejo, discovering smaller gems as well like Marvao, ....

We thank Helena and Simon for their kindness and help to make the wifi work

and be attentive making our stay even more relaxing and enjoyable.

We tried and enjoyed all the good Portugese food, lovely pastries, wide variety of bread, cheeses, tastefull vegetables and fruit and specialties and the nice local restaurants, and last but not least the fresh seafood !

If you like to unwind from the hectic daily life, for us it was the perfect holiday

place !

Thanks a lot and we would love to come back !

The place to relax and discover the real Portugal

  • 5 of 5

We had a fantastic time during our stay in Casa do Muro, a lovely house in a magnificent garden with great views. And of course the swimming pool ! The village is really small, but so quite, THE place to relax ! All the people of the village are so friendly, already the first evening they started to buy us a drink at Lisette's café. There are plenty of good restaurants in the neighbourhood at really low prices. Sinterra is ideal to discover a lovely part of Portugal : the Ribatejo region. We did a lot of trips and visited many lovely places.

We loved our stay in Casa do Muro and will certainly return to this lovely country ! I would recommend this to evevrybody !!!

Great getaway in a non-touristy area!

  • 5 of 5

We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Casa do Muro. The cottage is comfortable with a wonderful garden and pool with sweeping views of the countryside - very atmospheric. We particularly enjoyed staying in a non-touristy area as a contrast to our earlier stay in Lisbon which we also enjoyed enormously - the combination was perfect for getting to know various aspects of Portugal on this our first visit. While Sinterra is small and nobody speaks English, it has two tiny cafes with shops attached, bread delivery and great coffee! Despite being in the countryside, the drive from Lisbon is very easy and there are many great places to visit nearby such as Tomar, Obidos and Santarem. We had great traditional food in local restaurants too, especially suckling pig at Luis dos Leitoes in Portela Padeiras. The local wines were also excellent. The owner was extremely helpful, both before we arrived (thank you for the hair dryer Helena!) and afterwards and we were able to communicate very easily by email and phone. We had a great time. Thank you!

Nice stay in the small village Sinterra

  • 4 of 5

After a dull and rainful spring in Belgium, we really enjoyed the sun in Sinterra.

The stay in Casal do Inglès – Casa do muro was very relaxing and enjoyful. The

nice garden with astonishing view, the swimming pool which is big enough and a real

luxury, fruit falling from the trees, the silence,….all contributed to a successful holiday.

The house in itself has good beds, a big enough bathroom (powerstream of the water is

not high) , a living room and a fairly small kitchen. Eating outside on the terrace is the best

to do. As the direct area is not touristic, you can learn to know the real Portugese life.

On the other hand, a visit – like we did – to Santarem, Obidos, Alcobaca, Batalha, grutas de

Mira de Aire, Nazare and Peniche, Tomar, Lisbon, Constancia (Canoe trip) is possible without driving for hours.

Before, during and after the stay there is adequate information from the owner and the neighbourhood is friendly.

Car: recommended

The property is in the Ribatejo region, on the Tagus river north of Lisbon. It is known for its farming, horses, bull-fighting and wine production but is also a region steeped in historical monuments.

The countryside is ideal for walking and cycling. This is not an area of mass tourism. The people in this region are very honest and friendly and you are assured of a warm welcome.

The regional food is excellent.

There are open markets every weekend somewhere close by, and the towns have large supermarkets and all the other likely needs for your stay. 4030/AL
