About Rich

We love to travel; been all over the country. We consider ourselves to have a keen sense of what works. Also, we often travel with our dog.

Rich purchased this condo in 2006

Why Rich chose Southwest Michigan

Harbert is one of those great destinations that once you find it, you hope stays a little bit secret. The restaurants, shops, beaches, culture and all around vibe are unmatched. The Lofts are nothing short of spectacular. Carved out of Michigan's oldest winery, the historic property is unlike anything we have ever experienced. Super design, quality and vision are all present.

What makes this condo unique

A straight shot to the beach, two restaurants and a bakery, galleries, salon/spa, garden center and antique shops, all steps from your door. Many wineries are a 5-minute drive down country roads. A dog park is next door at Harbert Park which also has a playground, fishing pond, pavilion, and a baseball diamond. The Warren Dunes are less than 3 miles away. On site we have a fire pit, picnic pavilion, and a serene prairie with footpaths and relaxation areas.

Guestbook comments from the owner

(transfered from old guestbook system)We just spent a week at the Spectacular loft "Breeze". Our family vacation consisted of 6 people and 3 four legged house members. It couldn't of been a better vacation. The loft had all the comforts we could ask for.

Before our vacation was even over family members were already asking "same time and place next year"?

On a scale of 1-10 this vacation spot rated a 20! Very impressed.

Great vacation spot

  • 5 of 5

Our family enjoyed the stay in early August 2016. This is a great, clean, spacious condo with a nice kitchen where we could enjoy making dinner. Our teens had their space and wifi when we were not at the beach or in town. Parking is very convenient to the first floor entry and we could store our bikes on the front porch area. The bakery a block or so away is great and has a restaurant for breakfast. We will be back.

WOW, great home!

If you like a bit of the historic but with all the modern comforts and some specials treats this is the place for you. Rich and Eileen are great hosts, they know just what the travelers needs and what extras will make it special. I was looking for a place for my husband's siblings and spouses to spend time together while attending a family wedding. As we walked in the door and I heard oohs and aahs, I knew I had picked the right place. Comfy beds, space to spread out, space to gather, a taste of local wine, hot tub, great location ... perfect! everything is nearby - beaches, great restaurants, wineries/breweries, art/antiques. We loved it! Although we did not meet RIch or Eileen, communication was excellent. No negatives except, I wish I was still there!

Convenient location, close to groceries, liquor stores, and Oinks ice cream shop!!!

We had a one week stay at the loft in late July. The unit was great for the 5 adults in our family. We found it very easy to function in the space. The kitchen has lots of counter space for food prep, which is important to us, since we like to cook in most nights. The kitchen had everything we needed, but the quality of the pots and pans could be better.

The bedrooms were really spacious, had tons of closet space and were neat and tidy. One issue we had was that all 5 adults thought that the beds were uncomfortable. By the third night I was really tired of rolling to the middle of the bed in the master bedroom.

In some reviews people mentioned the train noise. I have to say that I heard a train in the middle of the night the first night, but after that I really didn't even notice them.

The owners were very responsive to questions we had before we arrived...i.e. where can we store bikes safely...can we extend the stay for a few more days(sadly for us, the answer was no because they were booked). And they were available by phone while we were there. We found that we had overloaded the outdoor trash can pretty quickly, and after I called and reported the situation, the garbage was removed within a few hours.

All in all a great place to stay....just a few upgrades and I would give it 5 out of 5 stars!!!

Owner's Response: Thanks, Missy, for your review. Pots and pans are just one of those things that people often break, lose, burn, mistreat, etc. in a rental property. This is actually our third set of pots and pans. I'm glad that you had everything else that you needed in the kitchen during your stay. We try to keep as many herbs, spices, snacks, serving dishes, wine glasses, etc. to accommodate our guests. As for the mattresses, we're sorry to learn that you found the beds uncomfortable. We have not heard that complaint. We routinely upgrade furniture and bedding/linens throughout the year. We will make necessary upgrades to the mattresses, as new 800 thread count sheets were recently purchased. Glad to hear that the wedding that you attended went well and if you're scheduling another trip to Harbor Country, we hope to see you again.

Never felt more at home while on vacation

Breeze offers the best of both worlds for us coming from Chicago. We're there in around an hour but it's as though we're a world away. The accommodations include a modern kitchen, a really nice hot tub, lot's of family type space both inside and out. Everything is quality here and they have a great eye for making sure your stay is wonderful. Make sure you get to the beach (a walk away) to watch the amazing sunsets. There is a really nice dog park about a block away. Cafe Gulistan is steps away, with wonderful food as is the Swedish Bakery (and a lot of choices up and down Red Arrow Highway). Plenty of art galleries, antique stores, outdoor activities (Warren Dunes) along with a string of quaint beach towns up and down the Lake Michigan coast. Don't miss Three Oaks either, home of Conway's for scones and coffee (and great conversation). And after all that, at the end of the day you get to unwind in a wonderfully appointed space.
