About Schalene Shelly

On top of Whistler Mountain!

Schalene Shelly purchased this condo in 2012

Why Schalene Shelly chose Whistler

This is an incredibly convenient location to enjoy both Whistler Village and to easily walk to the base of Whistler Mountain. The condo is nearly in the exact middle of the Whistler Stroll. We're thrilled to have a location so convenient and worry-free for all of the time we spend in Whistler.

We really liked the location of this unit and found that it provided us with everything we needed. It was clean and had enough room for the 4 of us.

They charged me for 12 bath towel 6 face cloths and 6 hand towels!

I am pretty positive there were not even that many towel in the condo all together.

As well before we left I washed and put the majority of the towels we used in the dryer.

I was sent pictures of the "ruined" towels (3 pictures one of which was of a pillow case...) in the pictures there was one extremely dirty face cloth (not even sure where it came from but ok) and two towels with water soluble pink dye on them (the only two towels that didn't make it into the wash) . Clearly there was no attempt to wash these towels. Based on the pictures I was sent there were definitely not 12 towels 6 face clothes and 6 hand towels!! So I wonder if they even noticed all the cleaned washed towels in the dryer or just assumed we took them.

I'm not sure what the situation was and when I questioned the owner saying that the pictures did not represent the number of towels they were charging me for there was no response to my email and my CC was charged. I really had no issue paying it my only issue really is with how everything was dealt with and the lack of proof or response when I questioned the issue.

I realize that this review is a year later however I was booking my next trip to Whistler, as we go every summer, and came across this listing again. I actually really enjoyed this condo and would have probably rented it again but felt very disrespected when it came to the towel situation. So I felt the need to express my opinion.

Hope this helps any future guests !

Awesome location , right in the middle of whistler village , was a pretty sound proof room/ quiet room even for its location (across from a nightclub)

Bedrooms were very nice, and beds very comfortable. Wonderful sectional couch and large screen television in living room, as well as a gas fireplace. Nice dining room table to have your meals, and a stacking washer/dryer in closet.

The noise level was quite high, primary from people walking by the condo at street level - or hanging out at the establishment across the courtyard. This isn't something the owner is responsible for, it seems to be more a function of the overall building construction/quality.

A bit more attention to detail would have been better. The lights across the top of the bathroom mirror in bedroom bathroom were all mismatched types - which gave it a shabby appearance. The towels were the same. One lovely, thick towel and another cheap, poor quality towel. Both bathrooms had handrails in them, but both were rusted and unsightly.

The front door had damage and looked as if it had been kicked and the kitchen was out of essentials like plastic bags/foil.

It was a short walk to the Whistler/Blackcome lifts as well as to the restaurants/grocery/liquor store - which was wonderful. All in all it met my needs and I think with some minor improvements, it would easily get a 5 star rating

We enjoyed our stay in Whistler at the condo very much. Very nice and convenient to everything at the main village.

Weather was nice and were able to ski and snow mobile. Love the convenience of the condo. It was well stocked and clean.

Was a great time with family.

Was worried at first when we read the noise issue from previous renters but I would think the bar across the street could get loud on holidays or busy times. We had no problem with this.

Will stay again if we return to whistler.

Important things you should know

  • 2 of 5

Whistler is a lot of fun and great skiing. The condo at Town Plaza, Bear Lodge was disappointing. The furniture in the condo is different than pictured. Bedrooms are very small. The place in general was a little run down and you can tell it gets lots of use. The interior was adequate, but not more. The thing that really stinks about this unit is that is on the 2nd floor and about 40 feet straight across from a LOUD nigh club entrance. Even in winter they leave the front door wide open and pump out the music until late. Drunk people hang out in line or outside of the club and make a ridiculous amount of noise coming and going. Take my advice and pick a place closer to the lifts and farther away from the nigh club door.

Owner's Response: This condo does look a little different then the picture as there is a new carpet and new furniture and new appliances and paint. We thought that this would be an upgrade. We have also added a TV in the master bedroom and put a newer TV in the living room. This Christmas was our busiest ever recorded so I get the extra people in the village would have been having a lot of fun. We do a lot of maintenance to this unit. We just put new mattresses in from when the pictures were taken and we are about to re-do all the linens and add some other things that will make this unit feel nice.

A very good stay in the middle of Whistler Village

  • 4 of 5

The condo was almost perfect, everything we needed was there.

We were with 3 adults but there was space enough for 4 adults so no complaints about that.

Location was A+++, walking distance to slopes, stores, supermarkets, ...

No pool on location only a hot tub, not that big of a problem in the winter but it's always nice to take a dive after a day of snowboarding. The only minor setback was the cost of the parking garage but it was a normal rate ($15/night) in a resort like Whistler.
