About Andee Post

We are a family of 4 with a background in Restaurants, Theatre, Real Estate, and History. Andee is a realtor in New Jersey. Her husband is in the restaurant business in NYC. We love to visit Rockport and our friends there every chance we get!

Andee Post purchased this house in 2008

Why Andee Post chose Merrimack Valley & Essex County

My best friend grew up coming to Rockport every summer of her childhood. I had the chance to visit with her one summer and fell in love with the village! After I married, my best friend and I came back for a summer vacation. She with her firstborn and I with mine, we were both pregnant at the time. We made it a point to summer in Rockport every year from then on! When my little family out grew our favorite room #9 in The Tuck Inn we decided it was time to have our own place. We wanted a property that was close to town, but away from the hustle and bustle in order to enjoy the peaceful Rockport evenings.

When we found Hooper House we knew the house had been waiting for us! It had just the right combination of old and new. Hooper House was originally a 2 family home for fishing families built around 1850.

Now we pop in during the summer as well as the other seasons. It has become my children's tradition and hopefully one day their children's!

What makes this house unique

Hooper House is close to town and far enough away to not be disturbed by other visitors. We have the best neighbors! You can park 2 cars tandem and not use them if you want. There is a train to Boston, Salem and Newburyport. Those are some of our favorite go to spots. You can even take the train to Gloucester if you want. It's a short walk to all the downtown hot spots. Rockport is a great place to walk and take in all the 'Kodak moments' around every corner. We like to walk off our meal after eating at one of our fine seaside restaurants. Because Cape Ann ('The Other Cape') is strategically positioned in the Atlantic Ocean the colors of sunrise and sunset in Rockport have attracted artists from all over the world to paint and photograph.

A perfect summer holiday!

  • 5 of 5

We have just returned from a wonderful time at Hooper House. It helped that we seemed to choose the best week for weather, but the house was also excellent. Everything had been thought of, from chairs to take down to the beach, to lots of information on where to go. The location was perfect- we walked into Rockport most evenings, and took the train into Boston, rather than have to think about parking. The town of Rockport is charming. The house itself was very light and clean, with plenty of space. We had a family of 4 staying there, with an extra guest for 2 nights, but it would take 6 people easily. We would highly recommend this lovely property. The raft by one of the beaches was a great success with our teenage sons!

Wonderful stay at Hooper House!

  • 5 of 5

Our stay at Hooper House was great! The house was clean, the beds were comfy, and the neighbors were very nice! There was plenty of room for our group of five women. The house is in a quiet neighborhood within walking distance to shops and restaurants. It's also close to Gloucester and Salem. We saw humpback whales with Cape Ann Whale Watch and visited The Hammond Castle Museum, both in Gloucester and definite musts. If you're interested in antiques, Essex is a great place to go. They had several stores that were very affordable. The house has lots of brochures that can help you plan your activities. We will definitely be back!

Clean, Quiet and Comfortable

  • 5 of 5

This place was great for our family. The house was clean, quiet, comfortable and in a nice location. Very easy walk into town, close to front beach which ended up being our favorite. Front beach has a nice dock you can swim out to and dive off. It also has tons of sea glass, which my daughter loves to collect.

The house had everything we needed to make our stay go smoothly. I would definitely try to book it again if we go back to Rockport another time, which we probably will.

Great location, well equipped charming house

  • 4 of 5

We had a great stay in Rockport. The house is in a good location walking distance to the shops and beach. It is very well equipped with enough space for us (2 adults and 2 teenage boys). It's very light downstairs, the sitting room is large and spacious. Upstairs the bedrooms are a good size but a little dark. We had a problem with a loo blockage but it was fixed in less than an hour which was brilliant. Thank you for such an enjoyable stay.

Just Perfect

  • 5 of 5

This was our second stay in Rockport and by far our most memorable. Andee's home has all the quintessential New England Charm you'd expect and more. It was more than adequate for us two adults and three young kids. Everything was provided- even beach chairs and sand toys. We felt at home, and really hope to return again. We were able to walk to Bearskin Neck. We opted to drive the 5-10 min to Hedge Beach and Good Harbor Beach. Took a day trip to Boston and another day to an amusement park, Canobie Lake. Cape Ann is certainly a hidden jewel. I consider myself lucky to have experienced it!

Charming, Clean and Comfortable!

  • 5 of 5

We enjoyed an east coast trip in late March/early April. Definitely a quiet time to visit New England - but we loved every minute! Hooper house was perfect for our family of four. We had ample space to spread out. We didn't spend much time at the house as we were out all day most days, but it was nice to know we had a comfortable welcoming home to come home to. I have been to Rockport in the summer at it's best. I can't believe how much I enjoyed the town this time of year though! Although not a lot was open when we were there, we still enjoyed walking into town and picking up fresh lobster and then coming home to cook it. Everyone in and around town is so friendly!

My only con I would have with the hooper house is being a little short on amenities at the house. We ran out of toilet paper and looked and looked (thinking it would be in the house) and no extra. A special trip to the store needed to be made. I have never stayed at a VRBO that did not supply toilet paper! A hair dryer in the bathroom is also a nice added touch - especially for those traveling across the country with limited space.

Thank you to Andee for a wonderful stay!
