About Andee Post

We are a family of 4 with a background in Restaurants, Theatre, Real Estate, and History. Andee is a realtor in New Jersey. Her husband is in the restaurant business in NYC. We love to visit Rockport and our friends there every chance we get!

Andee Post purchased this house in 2008

Why Andee Post chose Rockport

My best friend grew up coming to Rockport every summer of her childhood. I had the chance to visit with her one summer and fell in love with the village! After I married, my best friend and I came back for a summer vacation. She with her firstborn and I with mine, we were both pregnant at the time. We made it a point to summer in Rockport every year from then on! When my little family out grew our favorite room #9 in The Tuck Inn we decided it was time to have our own place. We wanted a property that was close to town, but away from the hustle and bustle in order to enjoy the peaceful Rockport evenings.

When we found Hooper House we knew the house had been waiting for us! It had just the right combination of old and new. Hooper House was originally a 2 family home for fishing families built around 1850.

Now we pop in during the summer as well as the other seasons. It has become my children's tradition and hopefully one day their children's!

What makes this house unique

Hooper House is close to town and far enough away to not be disturbed by other visitors. We have the best neighbors! You can park 2 cars tandem and not use them if you want. There is a train to Boston, Salem and Newburyport. Those are some of our favorite go to spots. You can even take the train to Gloucester if you want. It's a short walk to all the downtown hot spots. Rockport is a great place to walk and take in all the 'Kodak moments' around every corner. We like to walk off our meal after eating at one of our fine seaside restaurants. Because Cape Ann ('The Other Cape') is strategically positioned in the Atlantic Ocean the colors of sunrise and sunset in Rockport have attracted artists from all over the world to paint and photograph.

Another AWESOME stay at our favorite place!

  • 5 of 5

Our family of 4 has stayed at Hooper House many times over the past 6 years… because we love it!! It’s great to simply pack a suitcase, knowing that every household amenity we need will be there. Even grocery shopping is easy, because the basics are already there - unlike some places that claim to be ‘fully stocked with the essentials,’ yet don’t have salt and pepper or toilet paper when you arrive. (Tip: go to Market Basket for the best selection/ prices/ freshness!). It’s as comfortable as staying at a friend’s house, where even random things you need are there (you never know when you’ll need something like a paperclip or an extension cord or a string of lobster light. Yes, lobsters! The kids love to use them as a nightlight :)).

Like all early-settled coastal towns, homes in Rockport are cozily close. Even so, the fenced in back yard feels very private and quiet. The neighbors we have met have all been friendly and welcoming. I asked a neighbor if the kid’s volume level in the yard was ok, and she said she actually enjoyed hearing them play. (Phew! Because they certainly have fun out there!). OH – and it has parking! Which can be hard to come by in Rockport.

You can walk to Front Beach and downtown (yes, WALK! Even with a 5 year old). Downtown “Bearskin Neck” has tons of shops and restaurants, with a wide range of prices and atmosphere. Lots of good people watching, sitting spots, and picturesque photo ops. You can easily spend all day wandering around “The ‘Neck.” Locals are hospitable and always eager to offer directions, recommendations and info on local happenings (farmers market, music in the park, festivals, etc). Ask around if you’re looking for a more secluded beach, hiking, picnicking or the like. Somewhere in walking or close driving distance there’s a spot that suits everyone.

The owner, Andee, is very welcoming and responsive if you have questions or needs. We are already planning our next visit to Hooper House! Feel free to email me if you’d like to hear more about our experience there. Honestly, I have nothing but positive things to say about our consistently excellent stays there! 5+ stars! (Or, as my son says, 10 fingers and toes up, his highest rating!).

Thank you, Andee, for welcoming us into your awesome place! See you soon. :)

Owner's Response: Thank you for the awesome review from our Vermont Travelers. We love that you truly make Hooper House your home! And it makes us happy to know that the kids can play without reservation. One of my favorite sounds is the laughter of children playing! I must agree with you, we do have the best neighbors! Ten fingers and toes up to our Vermont Travelers!!!

Lovely home

  • 5 of 5

This home is lovely and quaint, 7 minute walk to the Bearskin neck, 10 minutes to the beach. Andee was very responsive when a little snafu came up. We have been coming to Rockport for 26 years and this rental has been our favorite to date. The only complaint is that the cabinets are all full so any dried goods we had for use during the week lived on the counter and in a few bags on the floor. It was really not a big deal. There's a nice big island in the kitchen so plenty of room for food prep. We loved it!

Wonderful!!!!

  • 5 of 5

The house interior is so comfortable! Great for 3 adults with 3 separate bedrooms upstairs (& air conditioners in summer). 1st floor is lovely. Plenty of space. 1 full bath upstairs & 1 ? half downstairs is very convenient. We can't wait until July when we'll return!!! Close to town also. A great place to stay! Thanks, Ande!

Cute and Cozy

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at the Hooper House for a week while we saw New England! This home is so warm and comfortable. It is in such a great location to enjoy Boston and all the cute little towns around. We would definitely stay here again when we venture up that way again.
