This charming log cabin is located in Valle Crucis (just a short distance from the Mast General Store in Valle Crucis) overlooking the Watauga River and a serene pasture with mountains beyond. It is the perfect get-away for all seasons! Blowing Rock, Boone, hiking trails, Grandfather Mountain, Tweetsie Railroad, shopping and ski resorts are only a short drive away.
This spacious three bedroom/three bath cabin offers three levels with a game room on the lower level for children to enjoy watching television, playing foosball, darts or video games (Sony Playstation). Also on the lower level is an air-conditioned bedroom with a Queen size bed, a “bunk nook” with a set of bunk beds, a full bath and laundry area with a washing machine and dryer.
The main level offers the air-conditioned living room, dining area, fully equipped kitchen, one bedroom with a king bed and full bath. The air-conditioned master bedroom has a king bed, full bath and is located on the upper level. Also in the master bedroom is a television with a DVD player for watching movies in bed. There is also a 'pack-n-play' and queen air mattress available in the upstairs closet.
The large partially-covered double-decks offer a peaceful setting while enjoying the river, the mountains and the pasture. We welcome dogs and the trout fishing in front of the house is fantastic!

We are a 41 yr old couple with 2 kids, 6 and 8 yrs old. I graduated from ASU in 1992 and have always loved the mountains. We live in Charlotte and get up to Valle Crucis as often as possible!
Todd Burbank purchased this cabin in 2008
It's beautiful and peaceful. I went to ASU and still love the area after 20 years. My dream was to have a vacation property in the mountains and this cabin is perfect. It's close enough to Boone, Blowing Rock (shopping!) and Banner Elk for convenience, yet far enough away to feel 'off the beaten path'. I also love the river and winding road in front of the cabin. We meander down the road in all kinds of weather and play in the river during the summer. We usually see deer, geese, ducks, horses and of course COWS on every excursion.
As soon as the road turns gravel (about 1 mile from the cabin), all of my stress melts away. You cross a small bridge and we call it the 'Ahhh Bridge' because as soon as we get there, I just feel 'ahhhh'. The cabin is cozy and the mountain/pasture view is really peaceful. I feel like I get my best rest when we are there and we definitely enjoy our best family quality time. It's the only place where the TV is rarely on, where we play lots of games and work on puzzles.
The covered porch is probably my favorite spot. I sit in the rocker and read and relax. The view is great and you can sit out there on a rainy day and listen to the rain bouncing on the tin roof. Ahhhh....
Our family just returned from a three night stay at Go Fish, and we couldn't have been more pleased. The house is beautiful- to be honest, the pictures shown on VRBO simply do not do it justice! I own a housecleaning company, so my standards for "clean" are high, and this house met or exceeded my expectations for cleanliness. The views from the front porches are beautiful, and the house is very well maintained. The built-in gates by the stairs on the huge second level porch were perfect for our pets, who were able to spend time outdoors without venturing off unattended.
Our family will definitely return to visit this beautiful, quiet home in the future. The only downside to our trip was that our trip was too short- we should have taken a full week here. I'd recommend this house in a heartbeat, and we look forward to returning to Go Fish in the future!
I am sorry that we didn't stay there this past December. We thought Go Fish was booked and ended up at another cabin with a horrible experience. We live in a very nice log lodge on a lake, with surrounding 8' covered porches. Sometimes, it's a little 'dark' instead of 'bright' because less light comes in a window with a covered porch and I think some guests may think of a dark area as unclean. We have never had a cleanliness issue at this log home and have stayed there at least eight times, and I believe closer to 10 times, through the years. We had nothing but positive experiences with Kelley at Rustic Rentals and a positive experience with the owner in December of 2014. (Only a few outside stairs to stay on the main floor for those who need to avoid stairs).
Our family of nine stayed for an extended weekend starting 10/15/15. We had a great time together! The cabin was easy to find and the scenery was beautiful! The cabin accomodated us all well and we had lots of fun exploring about the grounds. We were disappointed that parts of the cabin were not clean upon our arrival. The dinner plates in the cabinet were dirty (dried food stuck on them), the sheets on the main level bed had black dog hair on them, and there was a fair amount of dust everywhere (we have hardwoods at home so I know this is easy to happen but not what I expected). Downstairs, there was pretzals and trash in the sleeper sofa and a lot of candy wrappers and papers under the bunk beds. There was a stand fan in the tv room downstairs with thick dust all over it. The hot tub would not excced 84 degrees so it was not relaxing or warm enough to enjoy during our stay. The air mattress is much more comfortable than the sleeper sofa - we were grateful it was there.
Once we cleaned the floors, washed the sheets/dishes, and dusted a bit, we settled in for a fabulous weekend and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. I made contact with the relator to express our concerns for cleanliness shortly after our stay and hope that will help for future renters. She was very nice and apologetic. We would definately try this cabin again if we continue to see positive reviews and I would recommend to others in hopes that the cleanliness is better.
My family and I just spent the weekend at Go Fish! The scenery was amazing! The location was perfect! It accommodated all of us very comfortably with lots of extra room! We did not catch one fish, but we had a great time trying! Thanks for sharing your mountain home! Hopefully we will be back again next year!
I love coming to Go Fish!! When we want to stay in Valle Crucis, THIS is the place!! We can take the dogs and the kids and let them have a great time out in the wild! My boys love that on rainy days, they have their own little nook where they can play games or watch their own tv and not get fussed at. We have a separate room for my daughter to sleep without her brothers bothering her. It's just a great place to be!
Just spent New Year's week at Go Fish with another family. There were a total of 10 of us, and the cabin is set up nicely to accommodate two families with kids. It wasn't clear to us, but the cabin has a king bed / loft with bathroom on the top floor, another on the main floor with a bathroom and room for about 6 to sleep in the basement with another bathroom. Nice comfortable furniture and plenty of tv's for everyone. Nice gas powered wood stove warms the place up nicely. The kids loved the hot tub on the porch. Kudos to the owners for springing for some nice quality mattresses ... first time I have not woken up with back pain in years ! Two large decks overlooking the Watauga river and a small horse farm. Great getaway for fishing or skiing in the NC mts.
So much to see and do in this area. Tons of outdoor activities like hiking, golf, fishing and swimming. We love to spend time in the river in front of the house and the waterfalls nearby. Lots of good shopping (and restaurants) in Boone, Blowing Rock and Banner Elk. Boone Country Club is one of my favorite golf courses in the area.
