Beautifully presented seaside holiday cottage, with stunning views. 1 Beesands is set in the tiny hamlet of Beesands, located between Kingsbridge and Dartmouth. If you are looking for tranquility and relaxation look no further. Our holiday home is perfect for romantic getaways or just a place to relax and recuperate. Fresh sea air on the door step, miles of coastal paths, excellent local pub and if you fancy venturing further a field there is plenty to see and do in nearby Dartmouth, Kingsbridge, Salcombe etc

We love the outdoor lifestyle whether it be stroll along the beach with friends and family ,a coastal half marathon or bird watching at Prawle point which is what helped us to decide that Beesands was the ideal location for our retreat away from the South East. However, South Hams also has the beautiful cities of Exeter and Plymouth within easy reach as well as bustling towns of Salcombe,Kingsbridge and Dartmouth to keep you entertained. Not forgetting the warmth and charm of country pubs. For us everything a Great British holiday could ask for!!

Why Deborah Steer chose South Hams

I first visited Beesands in 1979 on a geography field trip- exploring the outstanding South Hams coastline complete with the village which fell into the sea.It was not until we revisited with 3 young children and Grandparents that we totally fell in love with the breathtaking scenery,peace,tranquilityand just that old English charm that can be forgotten in our busy lives of the 21st century. We saw No 1 for sale back in 2010 but obviously in need of renovation something which was not for us ! Roll on 5 years and after a first class renovation by the previous owners we now have a beautiful home that we would like to share.

What makes this cottage unique

No 1 Beesands is situated in the heart of South Hams an area of outstanding natural beauty. The South West Coast path runs to the front of the renovated fisherman's cottage steeped with history this makes it an ideal and challenging training ground for the physical holiday maker, as well as-perfect for the photographers and artists among you.Ornithologists will love the mile walk to Slapton Ley the largest natural lake in south west England passing also the Ley at Beesands with its hide also. Neighboring Prawle Point with its Cirl Buntings Project is also a must.

Geographers and Historians alike will be fascinated by the history of the area.

We had such amazing weather last weekend at Beesands that I think we may have got sunstroke on Sunday, as we forgot to write in your Visitors Book before we left yesterday morning :o)







The cottage was perfect for us six adults and so comfortable and the proximity of ready food meant the most we did ourselves was break open some cheese, crackers and a bottle of port. We had fish takeaway from Britannia Saturday and Sunday evenings and breakfast in the Cricket Inn both mornings. The staff in both establishments were so friendly and helpful and the food superb……………….. as was Christine when we couldn’t find a teaspoon ;o)







But it was not all eating a drinking. We did have two monster walks both days. The first day turning left and the second turning right along the coastal paths. Absolutely stunning scenery and a very, very happy dog, Sydney who adores a good walk.







Thank you once again for giving us the opportunity to explore such a beautiful part of south Devon.

Notes on accommodation: Regrettably no pets. Out of season we offer shorter breaks by separate negotiation. Outside: Teak furniture to seat 6 with umbrella. Gas BBQ, 2 sun loungers Utility Room: Washing machine, separate tumble dryer, belfast sink, drying rack. Cleaning / Towels / Linen / Maid service: All towels and linen are included (beds are all made up for your arrival). The property is thoroughly cleaned at the end of each stay. Should you require extra cleaning during your stay this can be arranged at an extra cost.

Wonderful South Devon bolthole

Beautifully appointed, spacious cottage with everything we could need for our stay; a home away from home. Wonderful walks on the doorstep - all in all, a great base for exploring this part of Devon. Fabulous dinner at the Britannia (BYO restaurant next door but one to the cottage) - best meal we've had in a long time. To top it all, the sun shone the whole time we were there, so what more could we ask for? We hope to return!

Perfect in every way

The house is perfect, we had 6 people staying over the christmas period and never once did it feel like we were on top of each other. The rooms are spacious, light and finished to a high standard. The open plan nature of the downstairs really makes it a great place to socialise. Location wise, what more could you ask for, directly on the coast with great walks in either direction with local pubs on route to help refuel! Perfect. I can't fault the place in anyway and would 100% recommend. And thanks to the owner for being so helpful.

A beautiful cottage in a fabulous location

We have just had a fabulous family New Year break, the cottage is beautifully decorated, spacious and very well equipped. Great walks, views and beach and local pub on your door step. I would highly recommend a stay here what ever the time of year !

Fine seaside cottage

This is a spacious cottage, beautifully presented throughout and very well equipped. Ideal for 3 couples. Very interesting stretch of Devon coastline with lovely walks in either direction and great pubs nearby. I would definitely recommend.

Nearest airport is Exeter/Newquay, Train station Totnes is located approximately 25 miles away. A car is essential in Beesands!

Distances:

11 miles to Dartmouth and Kingsbridge, 6 miles to East Portlemouth (here you can take the ferry (approx 5 mins) across the estuary to Salcombe, Torcross, Slapton Sands 2 miles away. Lots of beautiful villages/hamlets and other beaches on the doorstep - great place to explore. The manual in the cottage will provide full details.

Further Details:

Beach opposite. Pub 100 yards. Britannia Fish shop 100 yards. Farm shop 2.5 miles. Torcross with pub and village shop 3 miles. Kingsbridge with all facilities 7 miles. Dartmouth 11 miles.

Booking Notes:
For bookings within 4 weeks, full payment required, for bookings further in advance, 50% deposit to secure your dates, with full payment received 4 weeks before arrival date. Whilst we accept accidents do happen and do not charge for anything minor we do ask for a deposit of £200 which is fully refundable at the end of your stay - provided no major mishaps!

Changeover Day:
July/August changeover day is Saturday. Outside of this period we are flexible depending on how we are booked up. Property will be available at 4pm on day of arrival and we ask that you please vacate by 10am on day of departure.

Notes on prices:
Please note prices start from £525/week low season and got up to as much as £1500 peak season. Prices quoted to you will vary depending on time of year, length of stay and number of guests.
