We had a great time over the holiday weekend. Enjoyed grilling out, relaxing by nightly campfires and rented a boat to see the fireworks on the lake. It was a hot weekend, 90+ degrees everyday but swimming in the lake and floating around kept the family cool.
We checked in for a long 4th weekend. The staff was super friendly and helpful even though they seemed a understaffed. (they did apologize for the wait checking in explaining that this week was the busiest they have all year)
Positives: Value!! The cottage was clean and furnished with furniture you would find in most mid priced hotels (including a desk and chair that was perfect for finishing up a few work items). Cottage had a full kitchen with oven/four burner stove, microwave, coffee maker, full size fridge, cooking utensils, two bedrooms, living area with sat. LCD tv, dinning area and deck overlooking the lake. Lots of activities on site: horseshoe pits behind cabins, fishing, swimming in a small cove behind the cabins, they had a full service restaurant on site, small convenience store with ice drinks and snacks on site (they also had some boating and camping supplies and sold boats out of the same space) they offer pontoon boats/canoes/and kayaks for rent on site, they had a security person on duty and for a holiday weekend all the guests seemed to be respectful and even the few campers that were probably ready to keep the celebration going late were quieted down by the security around 10 (except the 4th which they allowed a little more leniency until 12). They also operate a marina and campground as well. While walking around the campground everyone was friendly and they seemed to attract some nice rv's and campers. The docks were posted private.
Negatives: The Cottage showed some age, but it was nicer then expected for a 2 bedroom cottage on the lake for $150 so although it was a negative given the value it balances out. Kitchen needs better assortment of utensils (we talked to one of the ladies in the office and she explained that things tend to move from cabin to cabin when groups rent multiple units. She was able to put together everything we needed, but if they did better inventory before check in it would have eliminated this negative) No maid service, but vacuums and brooms are available and towel exchanges are offered at the office.
Memorable: We went up to the hiking trails and found wild blackberries which after picking up a few supplies at the nearby Ingles we made into a giant cobbler. The morning view of the lake and mountains having coffee. Pontoon boat rental on thursday- Extremely nice "rental" and the lake was beautiful with very few houses spoiling the shoreline. Dinner at Henry's in Downtown Acworth
There was no washer/dryer or internet in the cabin (had to go to the office area for the wifi) Kitchen had one large and one small cooking pot, one large and one small crummy skillet. Eating dishes, glasses, silverware ok. The location by the lake was great, although bring your own lawn type chairs. Outside wild life was interesting with geese, goslings and other birds. Inside wildlife was interesting with mouse/mice and at least five roaches which we killed. (They did give us some mouse poison)
Unless you are only staying for a few days or a weekend, don't rent this cabin. First of all, the washer/dryer is a community laundry mat and costs money to operate. The cabin is not fully stocked with items and some of the furniture is broken. They will say they are returning your deposit when actually they are not. They took $64.00 for towels that they claimed were not cleanable. We were there an entire month! No laundry service or extra towels were ever offered. Great view. Good satellite cable. Only suitable for rental for a short term period.
We rented the pet friendly cabin from a Thurs - Sun. Had a great time! Plenty of grassy area near the cabin for the pets to hang out in the cool of the day and be close by. Great lake view - might trim a tree back a little for a better view. Great walk down and area to get down to the lake. Comfy bed and pillows, and the cabin was clean. Clean linens and towels. Might would line the kitchen cabinets with shelf paper, and clean the doors a little. Great time and will rent again!
