Overview

About the property

House, 3 Bedrooms + Loft, 2 Baths, (Sleeps 7-8)

The Bar-M vacation home is a premium log home- not your traditional log cabin- and is perfectly located in the heart of the Wet Mountain Valley, just 90 minutes southwest of Colorado Springs, CO. The log home sits on 10 acres with gorgeous views of the Sangre de Cristo Mountains and a peaceful setting with good roads and easy access to the highway and town. We are only 15 minutes south of Westcliffe, CO, a quaint little western town. It is an ideal base camp for your outdoor mountain vacation. Enjoy the feel of a luxury log home in the mountains!

The area has numerous attractions for every age...The Royal Gorge Bridge and River Rafting on the Arkansas, Hiking in the Rockies, Great Sand Dunes Nat'l Park, Horse Pack Trips and ATV rentals are great choices. We like to horseback ride with Bear Basin Ranch! Westcliffe was awarded International Dark Sky status in 2015 and star gazing on the porch is spectacular.

The Bar-M has 3 large bedrooms, 2 big baths with double vanities, showers and a bathtub, and a loft with bed & a game table. The cabin comfortably sleeps seven. Everyone can sleep on brand new beds. Enjoy the large great room, cozy gas fireplace and watch DVDs. There is a spacious dining room with a beautiful wood table that seats eight and a gourmet kitchen fully stocked with appliances and flatware. Paper goods and laundry supplies are provided. You have a microwave, washer and dryer, and dishwasher as added amenities. Who wants to do dishes by hand on vacation (or ever)? All the bedding and linens are new and top quality.

The Sangre de Cristo Mountain range greets you from the loft and french doors in the great room. It is breathtaking! Hiking the mountain trails to pristine fishing lakes, horseback riding on a real horse ranch, whitewater rafting on the famous Arkansas River and fishing are within 10 to 45 minutes. Really!

Beautiful Place to Stay

  • 5 of 5

What a beautiful place to stay. The BarM is just amazing and the owners are wonderful. The cabin is spacious but cozy. It has a true log cabin feel with all your modern day needs. It is a great place to explore all the outdoor adventures or relax and watch the wildlife.

Fantastic cabin!

  • 5 of 5

This is a beautiful, clean, organised and spacious cabin located perfectly for a peaceful, relaxing vacation. It comfortably slept all 6 of us and the rooms had everything we needed in them. There are plenty of beautiful hikes and walks to do around the area. The owners are incredibly helpful, I have never booked a vacation home this way before and I found the process to be very simple and secure.

The town of Westcliffe is not far where we found some great little shops and good coffee. The cabin itself is well stocked with everything we needed and so very clean and very relaxing. As soon as we arrived I felt at home. It was a great week away in a stunning part of Colorado.

Hidden Jewel

  • 5 of 5

The cabin is a hidden jewel nestled between the Wet Mountain Range and the Sangre de Cristo Mountain Range in the Wet Mountain valley…...Breathtaking, humbling and inspirational! Everything to do with the cabin and the property was excellent! It went beyond our expectations. All we really needed to bring were food and clothes. The cabin was well appointed and in great working order. Let there be no doubt, the description and pictures that the owner provides are spot on! Nothing is overstated in regards to the cabin or property and the pictures look as though they were taken the day before we arrived. It's obvious that the owner takes very good care of the place. The cabin is spacious, clean and has a real “homey” feel about it.

As far as activities within a short drive, there is plenty to do and then some. There is white water rafting on the Arkansas river; shopping, dining, and strolling down mainsteet of Westcliffe; hiking, backpacking, rock climbing the Wet Mountains to the east or the Sangre de Cristos to the west; and visiting the Great Sand Dunes National Park. If you want peace and quiet, just sit back in the cabin or step outside and the only thing you’ll hear is the sound of the wind. Big skies, big views and wildlife everywhere.

We really did not have any criticisms - the cabin, amenities, property and location were great. We made lifelong memories! A big thank you to the owner and property manager of the Bar-M!

There would be no hesitation in driving cross country again and staying at this same cabin…..None!

The simplest review I could give this cabin and property….….Book it!

Beach Family heads to the Mountains

  • 5 of 5

My family and I (there were 5 of us) spent 8 wonderful nights at this cabin - it was magnificent! Everything was very clean, cozy and well-appointed. We had everything we could possibly need (even a pizza cutter which we needed one night!). It was also wonderful having laundry facilities on the premises!

The selection of board games and DVDs were great and kept us well entertained in the evenings. We really enjoyed spending time outside as well and had several deer visit us at dinnertime. We enjoyed local horseback riding, tons of hiking and shopping.

Oh - and the sunset and the stars out at the cabin are spectacular! I don't think I have seen so many stars

in my life.

The property manager in town was also very helpful and made sure we had everything we needed.

Thanks again for a wonderful time. We can't wait to go back!

Ahhh

  • 5 of 5

We just got back and have great memories of BarM. I even shed a few tears as we pulled away because it felt so good to be there. Your cabin was definitely the highlight of our trip. We loved hiking the trails in the area. In fact, we loved just hanging out on the steps enjoying the cool breezes. If you had two Adirondack chairs, we would never have left. Thank you soooo much for sharing heaven with us. The Wet valley is one of the most beautiful places I have ever seen.
