About Bonnie J. Ray
I fell in love with the magical island of Mount Desert in 1982. I was fortunate to be able to move here and start a business and build two lovely homes. I love to travel as well and always rent a house where ever my travels bring me. I appreciate the comforts of home when I am away, so I strive to make your comforts a priority as well,
Bonnie J. Ray purchased this House in 2006
Why Bonnie J. Ray chose Bar Harbor
Perfect for families. The first floor has a family room with specious living room, wetbar, and bath. Continue on to the second floor and enjoy living area, dining area, kitchen, and bath, and rest peaceful on the third floor that contains two more bedrooms.
What makes this House unique
There is nothing more magical then Acadia National Park and Mount Desert Island. My homes are located on a very quiet road, with ocean view towards the North, and beautiful woods to the South. Wild blueberries grow all summer in the woods, and if you pay attention who will always spot a deer or two. We are close to the downtown area of Bar Harbor (4 miles), and exactly 1-1/2 mile to the entrance to Acadia National Park.

wonderful family vacation
Our family (including one dog!) thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The house layout allowed for both private areas and communal gatherings. The wrap around porch with comfortable furniture was a highlight. The neighborhood is close to Bar Harbor, but VERY quiet and peaceful. The view is diminishing as trees have grown, but you could still glimpse the water, and the woods were literally out the back door. We had a wonderful time.
Wonderful Fall Vacation!
Had a super time in Bar Harbor, Acadia National Park, and surrounding areas. We took two tours in Bar Harbor that were very informative, lighthouse boat tour and trolley tour to Acadia. We would have done more tours but some were closed for the season or the weather was blustery and rainy (mid Oct.). We still went out every day and explored despite the chilly weather. All of us ate lots of "lobsta" and other goodies. Cliffside was comfortable and had everything we needed. The stairs were a little challenging to three out of four of us, but we managed fine. Very centrally located for all our excursions. We would have enjoyed more seating on the
main floor when we ate, visited, etc. The last day we saw turkey and three deer on the road by the house. All in all a great vacation!
The Four Southerners
Glad you enjoyed out island and the fall season! Much less visitors, and much slower pace, but still a great place to viisit! Hope you enjoyed Cliffside! It is a three story home, as advertised, so I hope you enjoyed it, beyond the stairs to get to all three floors! It is a lovely spot, and glad that you enjoyed all the wild life that surrounds us all year! Hope you return!
Sincerely: Bonnie J. Ray
Well appointed, private and convenient
House has everything you need and the decks worked great for containing our dogs but letting us all relax outside together. Very convenient to Bar Harbor, Acadia entrance and rest of Mount Desert Island.
So glad that you enjoyed Cliffside! And freedom of having your dog close by and safe on the decks! Always happy when guests have a great experience here!
Peaceful slice of heaven.
The property is wooded and secluded but with quick and easy access to Route 3. Everyone in our group had a private bath. The interior was clean and we'll-maintained. The exterior wrap-around decks were a bonus. We were in need of nothing,! VERY pleased with our stay.
Thank you Patricia: we are always pleased when our guests enjoy the property! We strive to keep the home is great condition, and love when our guests take care of it as their own!
Cliffside: Our Maine Happy Place
The house was everything we hoped it would be! We've traveled to the Bar Harbor area 15 times over the last 25 years, but were never able to stay on Mt. Desert Island. So, we loved being close to Acadia National Park and Bar Harbor to go back and forth as we pleased, with a short drive "home" to peaceful surroundings. The home was clean, and furnishings inside were comfortable. The homeowner's notes were very helpful, and she responded right away if we had questions. The big kitchen was stocked better than any resort we have stayed in, and sure made it easy to prepare meals. We loved the outdoor deck space - enjoyed coffee in the morning, used the grill, watched stars at night. The view and privacy of the small deck off the master bedroom was amazing! Thanks, Bonnie, for allowing us to call Cliffside our home for a week!
So glad that you enjoyed Cliffside and had such a wonderful time at the home and our lovely island! I am truly blessed to have so many wonderful guests that enjoy the amenities that Cliffside has to offer! Hope to see you return!
Best Family Vacation
My husband and I had been looking forward to this trip as soon as we booked it. One by one our grown children decided to join us, including our oldest son and his girlfriend. The house was big enough for all 6 of us. It had everything we needed for a comfortable and relaxing week. We made many trips into the center of town and enjoyed walking around and doing some shopping. We also hiked many of the trails in Acadia including Precipice trail on Mt. Champlain. Amazing! My oldest son also proposed to his girlfriend at the top of Cadillac Mountain at sunset. The pictures are breath taking. The house is in a great location and has everything you could want. I would stay there again anytime! Thanks for an amazing week!
Oh Mary: What a wonderful story! So glad that your family got together and had such a great time at the house, and the proposal! You will ever forget your time here! So glad that you had such a wonderful time! Would love to see the family back again!
Minutes from downtown Bar Harbor, 1-1/2 miles from the entrance to Acadia National Park. Overlooks Frenchmans Bay.
