Situated on the edge of the Dales, Corra is a delightful one bed roomed cottage with en-suite shower room, lounge and fitted kitchen. This gas fired centrally heated ground floor accommodation allows easy access and local facilities include post office, shop, chemist and country pub, all within walking distance. The location provides access for cyclists and there are 5 golf courses nearby.
Locally there are great walks onto the moors, Shipley Glen and Saltaire as well as the Leeds Liverpool canal. There is a good transport network with buses within 200m and railway station one mile, which links to Leeds, Skipton, Ilkley,Otley,York, Harrogate and Haworth.
We've just enjoyed 3 nights at this fabulous place - clean, comfortable, modern, quiet, spacious - it was everything we wanted and more!! Brilliant communications throughout - and our dogs were very welcome with no added costs or caveats! Great location for exploring the Leeds Liverpool canal and the famous 5 rise lock, Saltaire and even Skipton and Malham, as we did. My only disappointment is that we couldn't stay longer!
The Rolfs' cottage is a traditional, stone structure with, I would estimate, about 800 square feet of living space. I don't think photographs convey how spacious the house is. We are Canadians and accustomed to large houses and we thought the bedroom and bathroom were very large and the living room ample. The other outstanding feature of the home is the quality of the appliances and kitchen utensils and the bedroom and bathroom linens and towels. There is a small library of quality trade paperbacks and complete tourist information in the living room. If you are accustomed to kitchen utensils that look like they come from a flea market, you will be pleasantly surprised to find complete sets of high-quality dishes, glasses, cups and flatware. Place mats, kitchen mitts and even a kitchen apron are provided! All the extras like food wrap, aluminum foil, and cleaning supplies are waiting for you. Bathroom towels are not the small, thin and worn items we have seen elsewhere, but thick, large and luxurious towels you might find in a fine home.
The Rolfs are a welcoming couple who communicated very well with us. They have busy lives of their own but are around if they are needed. Since everything was ideal at the cottage, there were no issues. I personally find quilts too hot to sleep under and asked the Rolfs to make sure we had a blanket or two for the bed. Sure enough, they were there waiting for us. We are quite sure you will be equally well treated if you visit.
Because the cottage is not in a tourist area, it is rented at a very good value. If you are not familiar with North Yorkshire, you may not know that you are surrounded by some of the most beautiful, character-filled, textured and nuanced villages, towns and countryside in the world. We can say this with confidence, having spent several years of our lives travelling in 25 different countries. The people of North Yorkshire are extremely friendly and easy to talk to and we had many pleasant conversations with local people.
If you enjoy holidays that are rich and individualistic and far away from tourist packages, we could not recommend anything more highly than the Rolfs' lovely cottage for an amazing staying.
Just got back from a three day break, got a great welcome from owners Mike and Joy. Excellent property with everything you could need and off road parking. Also dog friendly. Ideal for couple on a relaxing break. Nice pub on the door step, good food with welcoming atmosphere (The Glen). Some nice walks with another good pub (Old Glen House) about a thirty minute walk away. There is a farm shop five minutes away and a local shop about ten minutes (walking) There is also the usual larger stores about a five minute drive away. Would highly recommend. Only negative point is it rained! but we are in England Ha Ha
Thanks Mike and Joy from Bev and Harry.
