About Tessa Morris

We have been visiting Antigua for 25 years as we have family on the island, we love our time spent in Jolly Harbour and return at least twice a year, with friends and with family.

We have lived in the New Forest area for the last 30 years where we have brought up our family.

Tessa Morris purchased this villa in 2013

Why Tessa Morris chose St. Mary

This Villa is positioned in one of the best locations of the Jolly Harbour complex, firstly South Finger is far better than the North Finger for location, all amenities and supermarket, secondly the villa is a very short walk to the beach which can only be described as truly amazing.

THIS BEACH IN OUR OPINION IS ONE OF THE BEST BEACHES IN THE WORLD ( AND WE HAVE TRAVELLED!!)

Antigua has 365 beaches, one for each day of the year, all of which are open to the public all year round. The unspoilt island of Barbuda can be visited via the Barbuda Express ferry for a day visit or there are sailing trips available if you want to stay for a few days. If you want to capture the amazing scenery of the whole island and surrounding areas then a helicopter tour is a must, you will see just about all of Antigua's coastline and you could also fly over Montserrat and get a closer look at an active volcano!! You could also take advantage of one of the many catamaran tours, Wadadli Cats or Treasure Island Cruises, to see the island from the sea and snorkel in crystal clear waters. Deep sea diving is available, with Jolly Dive, they go out daily to dive at Cades Reef and other location including wrecks. From Jolly Harbour Marina there are also deep sea fishing trips, not to be missed, especially recommended is a fishing trip with "Mystic Amara". There are many places of interest to visit in Antigua including Nelson's Dockyard, English Harbour and Shirley Heights where on a Sunday afternoon there is a BBQ with a live Steel Band playing until sunset when a local reggae band takes over, not to be missed!! St John's is around a 10 minute drive from Jolly Harbour where there is a good duty free shopping area. Tours are also available by land - Island Safari takes you through Antigua's rain forest and you will take in amazing views of the island and the sea. You can also do the zip lines through the rain forest and get a spectacular view from the tree tops. However if all you want from your holiday is sun, sea and relaxation then you have to go no farther than a two minute walk to, what we believe, is the most beautiful beach on the island, right on your doorstep!!!

Location in Jolly Harbour was perfect. The beach is a 2 minute walk. It's beautiful with restaurant and water sports available. Also the sunsets on the beach are amazing. The villa is very well equipped, with all towels, utensils, bedding, a welcome basket...everything to make your stay easier. Very clean and lovely views from the balcony. I would not hesitate to recommend this villa to family and friends. Jenny was extremely helpful with any informarion we needed. Thanks Tessa and Jenny for making our week wonderful.

Wonderful place to stay!

  • 5 of 5

We had a wonderful 9 days at the villa. It was absolutely as anticipated; in a great position with lovely views across to the Sleeping Indian. Really light and airy with a feeling of space and openness. Even though it was very hot in July the breeze coming through kept the place comfortable. Tessa was more than helpful, highly responsive and we felt very well looked after. Recommend highly for anyone wanting to enjoy time at jolly harbour; very close (3 mins walk) to what we believe is the best beach in Antigua. Tessa organised a golf buggy for us to hire so we could easily get around, particularly useful to get shopping as the walk to the Epicurean, whilst not far, can be too hot whilst carrying heavy bags.

Laid back week in the sun

  • 4 of 5

The owners arranged for a taxi to collect us from the airport and met us at the villa to show us around. They had provided essentials for us - milk, bread, fruit juice, margarine, tea, coffee, wine & biscuits which were lovely to have available after the journey. There were helpful labels and bits of information around the villa explaining which switch did what and some of the power outlets were British standard. The villa was equipped with everything we needed and all worked well. The sun shone on the rear patio from morning until around 1 p.m. The beautiful beach was a 2 minute stroll away and had a vibrant bar (Castaways) with a happy hour from 16:30 - 18:30. The main reception area with a variety of restaurants and bars and a well stocked supermarket was a 10 minute leisurely stroll away. For those of limited mobility there are golf carts for hire on site. If you like some island experience, there are local small buses which take you into St Johns for EC$3.25 each way (£0.95) in 15-20 minutes. The owners were staying next door for the first half of our stay and remained very approachable, helpful, friendly and concerned that we were having a good time. I would certainly stay here again when I next visit Antigua.

Lovely 2 bed villa on Jolly Harbour's south finger

  • 5 of 5

Have just returned (10 May 2017) from Antigua having spent 10 days at a lovely villa on the south finger of Jolly Harbour.

The villa is nicely decorated and has all the mod-cons including A/C that you would need for a comfortable and relaxed holiday. Lovely views from the deck at the rear of the property overlooking the marina. Although we didn't use it, there was also a good sized BBQ.

The owners of the villa, Tessa and John have the villa next door, and were there during our stay. They were excellent hosts. Very friendly and helpful and nothing was too much trouble.

The villa is in an excellent location with a beautiful beach just a few minutes stroll away. There's a nice bar/restaurant called Castaways with plenty of interesting customers to chat to particularly at happy hour! The well stocked supermarket is about 15 minutes walk away but can seem longer in the heat of the day. There are some very nice restaurants on the site, al Porto being our favourite. We rented a golf cart for a few days at $20 U/S a day to get around the complex which made getting to the shops and eateries easy.

Would have no hesitation in recommending this villa and its location to anyone considering a holiday in Antigua.

Would just like to thank the lovely Mary who did the airport transfers and getting us to and from Shirley Heights. Very professional and good fun.

Beautiful location

  • 5 of 5

Stayed here April 2017 . The villa is situated on the south finger and is literally a 2 minute walk to the most stunning beach , white sand terquoise sea , a beach bar for refreshments . We did hire a buggy for a few nights to explore but on 20 dollars a day . ( don't settle for the first price they offer you for beach beds / umbrellas!!!!!)

We ate at some lovely restaurants Melinas , al Porto mayday on the resort then further a folds o j s , Catherine's and coconut grove .

Good to get out and explore some of the other amazing beaches too , nelsons dock yard , Shirley heights . I particularly enjoyed watching the reggae band "survivors" at the crows nest on Friday evenings .

The villa itself is well equipped and cooked at home a few times as well as a BBQ . Was handy to have a washing machine too , no complaints . Had a fab time and would hope to return next year ( travelled with my husband and 2 children )

Last but not least our best day was going out on captain reds sail boat red sails , we went snorkelling sailed the day away and red made us delicious food HIGHLY recommend !!!!!
