Strathassynt Cottage is in the sleepy West Highland village of Ballachulish, less than a mile from Glencoe. On the main road from Glasgow, Edinburgh and Stirling to Fort William, Oban and on to the Isles of Skye and Mull, it's the perfect location to use as a base for discovering the magic of the area, such as Loch Ness, Mallaig, Glenfinnan, Ben Nevis and much more.
Strathassynt Cottage has a double bedroom and a twin bedroom, each with ensuite shower rooms. There is also another bed which can be placed in either room for a 5th person. The dining/kitchen has an oven/hob, microwave, washing machine, dishwasher and fridge/freezer, and the living room has reclining sofa and chairs, TV/DVD with Sky and a real fire. Central heating throughout. A real home from home.
I am Scottish born and bread, but lived in Ukraine the for the past ten years where I had small publishing business. I got there and we have a beautiful baby girl. We returned to Scotland earlier this year and bought Strathassynt Guest House and the self-catering cottage. We're working hard to make sure all our guests enjoy their time here.
We run the guest house right next door to the cottage, so we're almost always on hand to answer questions, offer advice or solve problems.
Neil, Katya and Mila purchased this cottage in 2015
The cottage is a good size, but at the same time cozy and homey. It has everything you need, and with the pub across the road and the supermarket right behind, it's rural living without the inconvenience. It's really an excellent place to relax and recharge, and/or enjoy the great outdoors, while at the same time having everything you need right on your doorstep.
Ballachulish is a place we used to come as a family when I was a child. I have the fondest memories of the place. The sun might not always shine, but we always had the greatest time. The peace and quiet and spectacular scenery really make this a special place for me and my family.
What's really special about this place is that it has all the beauty, tranquility and outdoor activities anyone would want from a get-away-from-it-all holiday, while at the same time having everything you need inside or nearby for a hassle-free break.
Cosy cottage in guesthouse grounds so owner available if needed but not ever present. Neil was very friendly and helpful.
We loved the cottage. It was clean, comfortable, and had plenty of space for our family of four.
Neil was right next door and available for questions and help. When we mentioned it would be nice to have a French press for coffee, one arrived later that day. Our kids loved the selections of movies to choose from after a day of hiking or a rainy evening.
Location in Glen Coe area was perfect.
Very clean, good location. Very close to shops. Beds very comfortable, nice lounge. A cottage with old Scottish charm.
Close to Fort William, and not far from Oban and Invarary. Easy to reach the famous Glencoe mountains, just up the road.
Beautiful scenery all round, mountains, Lochs, and big vistas everywhere you look. A golf club and cafe, just down the road.
What more could you want.
The property is in the ideal spot to access the local hills. Glencoe is ten minutes drive, Ben Nevis half an hour and Ardnamurchan peninsula is a ten minutes drive and five minute ferry away. There are also hills on the doorstep.
A pub serving good food across the road and a well stocked Co-op fifty yards away.
The cottage is roomy with a large kitchen. There is an open fire and good central heating. Very comfortable and clean with the owner next door in case of any problems. We will be booking it again.
Ballachulish, on the banks of Loch Leven, is a delightful little village surrounded my majestic mountains. Only a mile from atmospheric Glencoe, one of the most beautiful locations in Scotland, it is excellent for outdoor enthusiasts of all sorts, including mountain bikers, hikers, hill walkers, rock climbers and more.
Here you can hike and climb in the mountains around Glencoe and Glen Etive, as well as parts of the West Highland Way, the Ballachulish Horseshoe Ridge and many Munros. Ben Nevis and Glen Nevis are only 20 minutes away by car.
There are all sorts of outdoor pursuits available in the area including kayaking, fishing, canyoning, and ice climbing to name but a few.
There's golf at the Dragon's tooth, whisky distilleries in Oban and Fort William, and more history than you can shake a stick at including many ancient castles.
And if you want a little soul recharge surrounded by peace and quiet, then this is the place. But with all modcons including a great pub/restaurant just across the road, and a supermarket right behind.
