I am a retired professional business man, I still have my company running in the midlands but have taken a back seat to enjoy retirement.
I have family in Torquay & on visiting came across the lodge, with its wonderful relaxing atmosphere & views, and could not resist purchasing it.
As I sail in the Med a lot I have decided to let the lodge when I am not there.
Neville Harrison purchased this chalet in 2015
The Lodge is in an uncluttered Meadow, where the architect took the trouble to design a pleasing aesthetic layout.
The lodges in the meadow are facing different directions on different levels, with plenty of space between then, thus giving you better privacy.
You can use the Hot Tub on the outer decking without being over looked.
Devon Hills Lodge Park is the expansion of the original caravan park set up in 1935 and the benefit of the years is there is a fully functional Leisure Center having a fully fitted gym and fitness classes (of which you the client gets the full use off within the rental of the Lodge) plus a Steam Room & Sauna, with a Large Indoor Heated Pool with a children's pool connected also with a life guard in attendance.
Another Bonus is the Blagdon Inn Restaurant & Bar with social activity's organized and special food nights, all very good & inexpensive all within walking distance of the lodge.
There is a bus service on the main road outside the main entrance.
An Ideal location for Torbay, Torquay, Paignton, Brixham, Dartmouth, just to name a few
Communication with the owner Neville was first class. Photo's of the accommodation are spot on - got a lovely surprise on entering the lodge at how big the living space was. Thoughtful touches included, towels, robes, milk, fruit and a bottle of bubbly to name a few! We didn't use the Leisure facilities but nice to have them on-site, however did visit the Blagdon Inn for a few cheeky drinks (great pub). We would highly recommend staying at Neville's lodge.
The owner met us on arrival. He was really welcoming, gave us a guided tour of the lodge and information on local attraction. Which we found very helpful. The lodge is ideally situated to tour Devon. Having an amazing view of the Devon countryside. We used the hot tub, outside gas BBQ and lovely comfy out door furniture. It was a very relaxing break with all home comforts, large TV, two and three seater sofas. Well equipped kitchen ensuite bathroom from master bedroom. I couldn't have wish for a better lodge, 100% WOW .
Would recommend and will be returning, thank you Neville your lodge is fantastic.
We have had a wonderful time, the lodge was wonderful and in a beautiful setting
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay in Neville's holiday home in Paignton. We are a family of four, one 5 year old, one two year old.
Neville met us there on our arrival to show us the ropes. The home is extremely well equipped with the extras you need so don't feel you need to take them - for example, dishwasher and washing machine tablets, washing up liquid, cling film, tea and coffee, toilet roll, hand soap in bathrooms, etc. Neville even left us a treat of some champagne in the fridge! Very welcome!
There are lots of towels provided and bathrobes which are useful for the hot tub, which was great fun, very relaxing after the kids had gone to bed.
We were able to fit a travel cot in the second bedroom so this was perfect for us. The only thing we did need was plastic plates/bowls for the little one, so take these if you need them.
The home has a lovely balcony to enjoy breakfast/dinners in nice weather with stunning views of rolling hills. It's very quiet so we could let the kids play outside on the balcony and the nearby grass.
A car is essential as you're not walking distance to anywhere, not a problem for us. It's very near Paignton Zoo which is a good day out. There is an Asda, Sainsburys and Morrisons all within a short drive.
There are lots of really nice things to do with young children in Paignton and Torquay, no problem to fill a 10-day holiday. Ours particularly enjoyed Woodlands Theme Park.
If you don't want to venture far in the evening, the Blagdon Inn is on the development. We went on buffet night, which was Italian - seemed very popular and we enjoyed the food. The regular menu looked nice, there's much more choice than they show on their website.
We also visited the leisure centre on the complex, which was free to use. Ours enjoyed the swimming pool, it has a shallow area for little ones. Also a small play park outside to while away some time!
All in all, a wonderful stay. Thanks Neville!
We stayed here for 3 nights and loved it. The property was extremely clean throughout, very well maintained and thoughtfully equipped (including the bottle of bubbly in the fridge ready for the hot tub!)
Neville met us at the lodge and explained everything to us. He was also available throughout our stay should we have any problems. The only suggestion I would make to improve things, and this is a personal issue, would be to provide a filter coffee maker, cafetiere or Nespresso machine as I love fresh coffee.
However, we will definitely be back, for longer next time! Paignton Zoo is well worth a visit.
We have just come back from a weeks stay in Devon. The lodge was perfect, very comfortable, clean and spacious with fantastic views and the bonus of a hot tub, what more could you want. I would highly recommend this accommodation and we hope to return one day.
