This vacation cottage was orginally owned by my dearest beloved Aunt Sue and Uncle Perry. Every year they invited me for vacation. This was always and still is a cozy and peaceful place to call HOME away from home. The town is an old fishing village and the neighborhood is friendly, pet friendly too. I always looked forward to coming back each year just......... couldn't get enough of the breezy sea air and spectacular sunsets. The yard always reminded me of my very own private sanctuary. it backs up to natural wildlife preservation, and offers shade and serenity. I have lots to do though with the yard and little by little I am planting shrubs and plan to plant a berm of armavitese along the back yard this fall.
Mary Barbera purchased this cottage in 1960
Fortunately, for me this cozy home I enjoyed as a teenager I now enjoy 35 years later. Only walking distance 100 steps to the beach and surf. Now, I am into my golden years enjoying the peacefulness of listening to the seagulls, the sounds of the water while having my morning coffee. I don't mind a glass of wine in the evening taking in the breeze of the water or a short jaunt to the beach to enjoy the magnificent. sunsets.
Our home brings back many memories of my family enjoying good times, great meals and beautiful sunsets. If you want peace and quiest, it is here, but if you want more excitement only a 15 min. drive to all the people, amusements, and nightlife.
Mary was very accommodating and gave several good recommendations for local restaurants..we especially liked Harpoon Henry's. She also gave us a nice bonus of a late checkout which was much appreciated. Pet friendly, comfortable home - it had everything required for a nice vacation. Thanks, Mary!
My family, including two young daughters and our dog, had such a wonderful time during this trip. The cottage was spacious and clean, and Mary was consistently responsive throughout the preparation for the trip and during our stay. The bay is so close by and made it easy for us to go for quick walks with our dog. It is centrally located to all possible activities the area has to offer, making it ideal for exploring but still quiet enough at night to give us the calm we were looking for as two working parents with young children :) For example, downtown Cape May is about 20 minutes south and Cape May Zoo being 20 minutes north, then Wildwood boardwalk the same distance to the east. And then there's Sunset Beach, a true find, which turned to be our favorite beach that we wouldn't have found if we'd have stayed downtown. This really was such a wonderful trip and the cottage was perfect for our needs.
We enjoyed our stay very much, I will look forward to the next time at this comfortable, clean, cozy house.
Great location and owner responded right away with helpful information about the area, she assured us we could count on her help should we have future questions, what a nice personal touch. I am pleased and hope its available for our next trip to this lovely area. Highly recommend this property and friendly owner.
My daughter and I decided to take a last minute getaway to the beach for some relaxation and rejuvenation. Mary's property was just what we were looking for: very clean and well maintained, very convenient to the beach, near good restaurants and just a short drive to Cape May. We enjoyed daily walks on the beach at the end the street and eating at the Back Bay Café. Fleck's Ice Cream was excellent and not to be missed if you love ice cream. We also had fun shopping in the nearby antiques/vintage resale stores. We would recommend this property to other people and it was perfect for our girls getaway.
We had a very pleasant Labor Day weekend. Owner was very helpful and property was as described. Had two great dinners at the Back Bay Bistro and a fun time at Harpoon Henry's.
Very nice house and not a far driving time to Cape May. Nice area. We really enjoyed our stay! It's the perfect size house for a couple or families with small children.
cinamas, winery tours, zoo, blues/jazz festivals, playground, restaurants, zoo, boardwalk.
