|Minimum Stay||4 nights|
This beautifully renovated Marais apartment is perfectly located in the 3rd arrondissement, just three blocks from both the Place des Vosges and the Picasso Museum, Apartment Tournelles1 is in a lovely and well maintained XIX century building. Everything in this apartment has been updated, from the plumbing and electrical to the tasteful furnishings and decor.
Unusual to Paris, Apartment Tournelles1 features two equally well-appointed bedrooms, each with comfortable queen-sized beds and en suite modern bathrooms! The well-thought out layout of Apartment Tournelles1 maximizes the living spaces and, for privacy creates excellent separation between the bedrooms (see the layout photo below). We have decorated Tournelles1 with the perfect combination of style and comfort, and equipped it with many thoughtful touches, including good reading lights, a laptop computer, hair dryers in both bathrooms, etc. Read what prior renters have said about our apartment!
Apartment features: In addition to the 2 bedrooms and 2 baths, Apartment Tournelles1 features a separate tiled kitchen with modern appliances, and a light and airy living/dining room. While the many neighborhood restaurants and wine bars will beckon, the well-furnished kitchen also invites you to bring provisions home from the nearby open-air markets and wonderful food stores.
Unwind on the comfortable leather couch in the living/dining room after a day of exploring the Marais and surrounding neighborhoods. High ceilings, tall windows, original moldings and wood floors, a black crystal chandelier, stylish furnishings, and a quiet street below--this wonderful vacation retreat has all the ambiance of old Paris combined with the best modern comforts and conveniences.
Some of the amenities: The apartment is on the first floor French (second floor American), easily accessible by a wide and gently curved staircase. It of course comes with many amenities---flat screen TV with cable,, phone with free calling to 28 countries, washer/dryer, free WIFI, heated towel racks, etc. We've also equipped it with a laptop computer so you don't have to lug yours along.
In addition, our Parisian manager, who is fluent in English, will make sure Apartment Tournelles1 is beautifully cleaned and ready for your arrival. She can assist you in emergencies, and will check the apartment's condition after you leave. We (the owners) come at least twice a year and make sure the apartment stays in tip-top shape.
The Neighborhood: Le Marais: Tournelles1, and its adjacent sister apartment Tournelles2, are in the midst of the Marais, one of Paris's most historic, most beautiful, and most desirable neighborhoods. From French history to French chic, the Marais has it all. To help you get acquainted, Apartment Tournelles1 is equipped with numerous guidebooks and maps, as well as information on our favorite places to shop, eat, and sight see in the neighborhood. Also, we provide a complete binder, with directions on how to use all of the appliances, lots of neighborhood resources, and general Paris information.
While it is easy to spend all your time in the Marais, many other Paris attractions, including the Louvre, the Seine, Notre Dame, and the Left Bank are in easy walking distance of Apartment Tournelles1. And, when you're ready to get off your feet, several Metro stops are conveniently nearby (Chemin Vert is less than a block away, and Bastille is less than a five minute walk).
Two San Francisco families own this beautiful apartment and its adjacent 'sister' and we manage it ourselves with the help in Paris of a close friend. We traveled to Paris in the winter of 2006 to research buying property, and came home 10 days later as Paris apartment owners. Our dream is to live in Paris, and having these apartments get us one step closer to that. We renovated, decorated, and equipped these apartments based on our prior experiences with vacation rentals in the US and Europe, and hope that you will enjoy all of the amenities and small touches that we have provided. We travel to Paris as often as we can to make sure the apartments stay in top shape. Our goal is to give you a wonderful place to stay, and have you love Paris as much as we do.
Cheryl and Pam purchased this apartment in 2006
We love the Marais...it is central to everything, yet retains a neighborhood feel. We love walking out the door and being steps away from fabulous bakeries, restaurants, museums, and great shopping. Paris is a great walking city, and our apartment provides easy access to so much of it. We also love the location because the Paris Metro (subway system) is so close and so easy to use. We also love the Marais because of its history and diversity...from the elegant Place des Vosges to rue des Rosiers' Jewish delis to rue des Archives' gay friendly bars and stores---everyone can feel at home in the Marais.
Some of our favorite things to do revolve around cooking and eating! We love being just across the street from the twice-weekly Bastille farmers market, and within easy walking distance to two other historic markets on rue des Bretagnes and at Place d'Aligre. And we can never stay at our place and not stop for a meal at Chez Janou, a block away, making sure we save room for their incredible bowl of chocolate mousse! We also love that a short walk takes us to and across the Seine, to Notre Dame and the Left Bank, and never get tired of window shopping along rue des Francs Bourgeois' chic boutiques,or walking under Place des Vosges' magnificent arches. Since we bought the apartments, the 'upper' Marais has also evolved, and now has its own chic boutiques, restaurants, and bakeries. We are fortunate to be in the middle of all the best Paris has to offer, while retaining its neighborhood feel.
Our other favorite past time is exploring Paris' various neighborhoods or arrondisements. The fact that we're so close to the 2nd, 4th, 10th, 11th, and 12th facilitates our 'expeditions.' As in our home city, San Francisco, it is the neighborhoods away from the tourist areas that give one a great perspective on the city and its people---and, just like San Francisco, the best food at the best prices are found in the neighborhoods!
The apartment was well-furnished: living room was nicely decorated and suited for hanging out: kitchen with amenities like dishwasher, microwave, etc plus a laundry room. The bedrooms were comfortable and had storage. The street was quiet even though down the block are restaurants and shops. Perfect for four people who want to be in the heart of the Marais.
This unique and ideally-located Marais apartment was the perfect solution for our recent 10 day stay in Paris. We settled right in and felt very much at home in this charming, comfortable, and very clean flat. Having two ensuite bedrooms gave us (one couple and one single) just the right amount of privacy. The apartment is small but equipped with everything you need for a relaxing and extended stay. The location couldn't be better -- away from the touristy hotels and in the heart of the vibrant Marais. We walked just about everywhere, but for longer trips the metro is just a block away. Chez Janou -- a fabulous restaurant just a few blocks away -- is a must!
Cheryl and Pam have clearly put a lot of thought and effort into making this a welcoming space for the guests, and it really shows. I've been to Paris dozens of times and stayed in lots of really nice hotels and several different apartments, but this is the place I'll be booking for all of my future trips.
whereas our up front communications were good, our overall impression was mixed....we needed two separate bathrooms and this we received, although a very unpleasant sewer odor pervaded the small bathroom and kitchen sink. Living room area needs a minimum of one comfortable chair if two couples are using flat...couch is fine but other chairs are not suitable for tv watching. Bedrooms are sterile and bleak with rough bed sheets, and questionable comforters. One fragile chest for clothes, Only one bed lamp with outlet behind bed looking dubious for changing. . Had to call house mgr. re: TV and we had two tech wizards with us. Mgr. arrived next day and wiggled a wire saying something about cleaning crew. Second bath had dingy floor and towels are worn. Area under armoire had a great deal of dust.Only full length mirror is in master bedroom. Instructions for flat date back to 2010 and have contradictory info....badly need updating. On the plus side, flat is quiet and location is good, although windshield was broken into last night of stay. We appreciated the bottle of wine and flower welcome. Markets were fun and decent restaurants within walking distance. A little decorating attention would bring this flat along significantly.
We stayed 4 nights in this apartment with another couple. It was perfect for us - two bedrooms, each with its own bathroom; a nice living room/sitting room, and fully equipped kitchen. The apartment was well-cared for, secure, and very comfortable. The Marais neighborhood was delightful. We visited the same bakery (just down the street) each morning and ate at some local restaurants, as well as exploring the city. There are several Metro stops nearby, and it is easy to use, but also many attractions are within walking distance, such as Notre Dame, the Louvre, and the Picasso Museum. Communication and transactions with the apartment owners were easy and pleasant. Highly recommended!
This apartment was a great find for us. We were two couples sharing the apartment and it couldn't have been better during our month long stay. It was an honest 2bdrm, 2 bath apartment which is very hard to find. The apartment was fully equiped and we were very comfortable. We had all forms of transportation close by to get us anywhere in Paris and restaurants nearby were good and within walking distance. We always felt safe walking at night in the neighborhood. The local host Amele was very nice and helpful to us. We did not have a car and relied completely on public transportation. You will really love this apartment. We highly recommend this Cheryl and Pam's apartment and may very well stay there again.
As a family of four visiting Paris for the first time, Cheryl and Pam's apartment provided the perfect base for a week of sightseeing and soccer-watching.
Communication with Cheryl and Pam, and the in-Paris manager, Amele, was smooth and helpful. The apartment was clean and well-appointed.
>> The proximity to the metro (short walks to lines 8 and 1) meant it was easy to move about the city without changing lines.
>> The local 'provisions' are outstanding. Coffee and breakfast at Fragments is a must (Australian quality espresso). We also loved Maison Plisson and Bien l'Epicerie. Between Marche Bastille and March Popincourt you almost don't need to out eat. But, when you do, there are fabulous options within walking distance.
>> Place des Vosges is only a short walk away and is delightful at any time of day, but especially in the evening. If you are travelling with children, they will enjoy the playground.
In Paris' 3rd arrondisement, central to all tourist sites and transit. Le Marais is a wonderful and safe neighborhood, with many cafes, art galleries, museums, small parks, open-air markets, and fabulous restaurants of all kinds. Come explore Le Marais and all of Paris.
