Relax in style! Take a break at our beautifully appointed Treehouse in East Texas.
Treehouse is located in a forested section of a 300 acre ranch. It is a cozy getaway with a queen bed, sitting area, full kitchen and bath with commanding views of the 8 acre lake below. Situated on the second floor of the owner's detached carriage house, Treehouse offers a private deck where guests can sit and take in spectacular views of the lake. It features windows, windows and more windows opening to the surrounding woods and hence, the tree house feel. Accommodations at Treehouse are first class and include luxury bedding with Egyptian cotton sheets. Satellite TV with DVD library and a DSL hook-up let you reconnect with the world outside if desired.
A picnic table and gas grill sit on a large dock out in the lake and make for a wonderful dining experience just a short walk from Treehouse. Guests can hike and picnic throughout the 300 acre ranch. Because the ranch sits between two vegetation zones, it is a great area for birdwatching. For those who enjoy fishing, the lake behind Treehouse is stocked with Florida bass, bream and catfish. Guests can also fish on a variety of fully stocked lakes/ponds throughout the property. All fishing is catch and release to ensure our fishing remains good for future guests. Each has a dock and most have boats and/or canoes for getting out on the lake.
The owner will provide interested guests with a tour of the ranch where prize winning Shorthorn show cattle are raised. Miniature horses and tiny pygmy goats are also a great hit... especially if there are baby goats to pet.
Located within 15 minutes of Pittsburg, Gilmer and Winnsboro, guests can experience life in the country but also enjoy the amenities of a town. In the Summer, fresh peaches, blackberries and blue berries are sold at nearby orchards. Golfing, a winery and a variety of restaurants are within 15 minutes of the ranch. There is also a SPA in nearby Winnsboro for those who want to pamper themselves while visiting. For antique shoppers, there are many shops within 15 to 30 minutes of the ranch.
Jim and Paula Archer own and operate Lone Star Cattle Company, a working 300 acre ranch in Northeast Texas. Jim is a recently retired Professor of Chemistry and Paula is a software sales leader for a major corporation. They moved to the ranch over 10 years ago. Jim remains active as a District Governor for Rotary International. He is also Chair of the local ambulance board. Paula raises Shorthorn show calves and breeding stock. She is on the Board of Directors for the Texas Shorthorn Association. Both enjoy sharing the relaxation and enjoyment of the ranch through the vacation rental program.
Paula & Jim Archer purchased this cabin in 2000
We love the beauty of the area and the wonderful community of small town friends and neighbors. We moved to East Texas more than 20 years ago. After living in town (Pittsburg TX) for 10 years we bought the ranch and fixed up Pine Grove Cottage for our weekend getaway. We loved staying there so much we sold our home in the city and moved to Pine Grove Cottage while we began plans for a new home on another corner of the property. During this time we needed more room for family and friends so we added Spring House on still another corner of the ranch. In 2005 our home was completed and we moved out of Pine Grove Cottage. We decided to offer both Pine Grove and Spring House on VRBO at that time so others could share in the beauty and fun of the ranch. We were so pleased with the wonderful guests that visited, we have added Treehouse and a Bed & Breakfast to allow larger groups to stay. We often host extended families looking for a retreat, wedding parties and multiple families who want to come together to visit. Now we can accommodate all but each property can have its own privacy. Our return rate is very high so many of our guests have come to view the ranch as their own special place in the country...without all the hard work!
Treehouse was a perfect getaway for our Anniversary the home was cozy we had a great time fishing at a lake all to ourselves the scenery is beautiful we also enjoyed using the outside grill also using the fire pit was enjoyable we had a great weekend stay at treehouse
We truly enjoyed our stay at the Lone Star Ranch! We took the paddle boat out several times and caught a few nice size bass. So much fun! We enjoyed an evening fire down by the lake and grilled out on the dock. We hiked around the stunning property, it was so peaceful. In the mornings we ate the eggs we purchased from Paula. The eggs were so delicious and fresh! The blackberry jam was also amazing! The cabin was perfect, comfy, and cozy!
Thank You, Jim and Paula for sharing your wonderful ranch with us. We look forward to visiting again one day.
Had a wonderful time! Very peaceful and comfortable! Loved getting out in the morning and walking around the place and seeing all the beautiful creations God has made.
What ever I say will not be enough to describe how beautiful this ranch is~ My hubby & I stayed in the treehouse, It was so accommodating, it had every thing you need. We only left the property once in 3 days.My hubby & I made a deal that he would cook and I would clean...It was so awesome we cooked on the grill, Paula brought us tomatoes & corn over from her garden, It was delicious! We will be returning to this little slice of heaven in the middle of no where~We loved it! Thanks Jim & Paula, we had an amazing stay!
My husband and I visited Treehouse for a short getaway for peace and quiet. The pictures show all the rooms but when you walk in it actually looks bigger. It is an efficiency but for my 6' man he was comfortable and pleased. The bed was very comfortable and entire place was very clean. Kitchen was stocked and as all the comments said the biscuits were fantastic. We also asked to buy a dozen farm fresh eggs.
The lake was absolutely beautiful and we caught numerous fish, mostly bass. We took a boat out with a trolling motor and cruised all over it allowing us to get to other areas...and just enjoy the beauty. All you hear are fish splashes, frogs, the birds, and the cows. We really enjoyed this little hideaway. We felt all by ourselves. The owners are very sweet and helpful (Paula even helped us at 11 pm). Thank you, Paula. We look forward to bringing our kids and staying in a bigger property there.
You can tell Paula and Jim have went out of their way to make this "treehouse" a cozy place for couples to getaway. The place was very clean, updated, and just all around nice! We loved being able to hop in a boat and paddle out to fish, or just fish off the pier. We caught quite a few bass. You can buy farm fresh eggs from Paula and Jim and they are amazing, they also have biscuits in the freezer and homemade jam/jelly in the fridge that is complimentary. Seriously, the biscuits and jam were to die for :) free tours of the property are offered, just call and schedule a time. we did not get to take a tour of the property because we only stayed 2 nights and got their really late. For sure will have to do that next time. I LOVED all the ivy growing around the trees and the complete ground cover under "treehouse". It's just a beautiful place and Paula is the sweetest person to work with. Stay here, you won't regret it. We will be back!
Treehouse is on a 300 acre ranch. Owner will provide a tour of the ranch to interested guests.
