Great place to relax and unwind
We stayed at the villa for a week which flew by perfect for what we needed clean and tidy and really comfy beds, the view was lovely I’m sure in the sunnier weather the terrace would be a great place to sit and listen to the waves rolling in, we love Cornwall and this place is another great one to add to the list of places to stay, A big thanks to Keith for a great holiday.👍🏻
Great place, exceeded expectation
Really enjoyed our week. Worth the climb up the steps for the view from the accommodation.Everything is to a good standard, just lacking a bedside lamp, a minor detail. The beach and facilities are good and it's only a few minutes drive into Looe. We would stay here again....thank you Keith!
hope you come again.
I will fit a bed-side lamp before you come to get the 5th star rating.
Good, basic, value for money
Very helpful and friendly owner, who was keen to accommodate any requests and questions I had prior to the visit.
The site itself is a mixture of properties that have been done up and some that are run down. Black Rock beach has a café, and a shop but not much in the shop, posh sausages, crisps and ice-cream and cans of juice which are expensive. There is also a very nice bar.
The beach is situated in a little cove, safe for swimming and clean. You can hire paddle boards and kayaks as well as deck chairs at the beach and the man who runs that is totally brilliant at giving lessons for free too. It is very, very, good value for money.
The villa is nice and the view from the balcony was superb, only spoiled by downstairs neighbours barking dogs below whenever anyone moved! Sky TV only had a few channels no viewing card, which was a bit disappointing in the evenings for the children. There is no wifi at this apartment unless you pay over BT for it and no mobile signal unless you are on the beach. Again that is not a major issue unless like me you are juggling a business and a holiday, my fault for not checking. The kitchen in the apartment is very good but would benefit from more pots for cooking and more utensils.
I would recommend for a few days and if like us you live on the beach then it is a good base. The walk from the beach to Looe is lovely and perfect for tiring out the children with the promise of fish and chips and ice cream at the other end!
We had a lovely week here. The atmosphere here is just perfect, everyone is friendly and it's perfect for families. When the tide goes out there are lots of rock pools, perfect for kids to explore. The villa has gorgeous views and is only a two minute walk down to the beach. It also has a large balcony where you can relax and do barbeques or just admire the view. There's not much around apart from one café/restaurant by the beach, but Looe is only a 5 minute drive away and has lots of lovely restaurants and shops. The only thing I would say is that the villa is 60 steps up (hence the stunning views!) so might not be ideal for some. Overall though, we all loved it and would definitely come again.
Fantastic week at Villa 73 - Aug 2016
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at Villa 73 for a week during the August school holidays. The villa is at the top of a set of 4 villas, there are some 60 steps to climb, there is a huge balcony with a fantastic view of the Cornish coast. The Villa is well equipped, very clean and tidy on arrival. There are great sun loungers to use on the balcony. I feel the photos on the website do not do this place justice. Its a hidden gem!
Our two daughters (age 5 and 3), loved the private beach, spent most the day in the sea, making sand castles and looking in rock pools. The Black Rock café serves excellent food and amazing ice creams!
We spent a day visiting Looe and another in Polperro. Both lovely pretty places and worth a visit. We did crabbing in Looe Harbour which our girls loved! However, we found both Looe and Polperro busy (being August holidays) and a relief when we came back to our quite, safe bubble of Mildenreath :o)
We will definitely recommend this place to our friends and hope to return in a few years.
Thank-you for your wonderful comments.
I am so pleased you enjoyed your stay.
I hope you will re-visit us again.
