It is completely secluded with marshland to the rear of the house which is a haven for wild birds including the shy water rail.
Migratory ducks, swans and geese visit our bay and the beautiful call of the whimbrel echoes over the water from the lake's islands. On still days trout leap from the water and perch gather in the shallows. The house has a cosy, rustic charm with a spacious, kitchen dining room including a lacanche range cooker and log burner. Tim Weatherhead purchased this bungalow in 2000
We bought this house in 2000 and brought up four children here. They had the most magical time building camps and going swimming off the jetty.
Every time we go back I never fail to be overwhelmed by how beautiful it is. Sitting by the lake in the evening watching otters play in the bay or hearing swans or geese flying overhead.
It is so peaceful and the view is just as beautiful on a wild and windy day as it is in perfect sunshine when the lake becomes a mirror.
One of our friends said we were "in God's pocket here" and I think they were right!
It's a great place for family groups or friends to celebrate an event or just get together! There is an extra large sitting room and kitchen. A games room with football and darts for all. The garden sweeps down to the lake with beautiful views across to Rabbit Island. We have our own private mooring for two boats.
It is peace and tranquility with a ten minute drive to the lovely and historic village of Cong.
Five Star Ashford Castle is just around the corner for a special evening out.
Lots of attractions near by with day trips on the lake, fishing ,golf, and riding .
The house was exactly as it appears on the website. The kitchen and living room are bliss and the beds are really comfortable. We were there over Easter and the weather was wonderful so much so that three people dared to swim! Beautiful countryside surrounding this gem of a holiday home. We would certainly go back in a heart beat. The village of Cong is sweet and if you have a special celebration Ashford Castle is a great venue for a delicious dinner. Thank you Tim we had a wonderful time!
This is the perfect place for a family stay. It is a beautiful location and close by to Cong and Ashford Castle. The house is lakefront and very scenic. The home is large and has plenty of bedrooms and bathrooms. The owner and local housekeeper are very attentive. We would definitely stay here again if we had the chance.
