Tim Weatherhead purchased this Bungalow in 2000
Why Tim Weatherhead chose County Mayo
We bought this house in 2000 and brought up four children here. They had the most magical time building camps and going swimming off the jetty. Every time we go back I never fail to be overwhelmed by how beautiful it is. Sitting by the lake in the evening watching otters play in the bay or hearing swans or geese flying overhead. It is so peaceful and the view is just as beautiful on a wild and windy day as it is in perfect sunshine when the lake becomes a mirror. One of our friends said we were "in God's pocket here" and I think they were right!
What makes this Bungalow unique
It's a great place for family groups or friends to celebrate an event or just get together! There is an extra large sitting room and kitchen. A games room with football and darts for all. The garden sweeps down to the lake with beautiful views across to Rabbit Island. We have our own private mooring for two boats. It is peace and tranquility with a ten minute drive to the lovely and historic village of Cong. Five Star Ashford Castle is just around the corner for a special evening out. Lots of attractions near by with day trips on the lake, fishing ,golf, and riding .

A wonderfully peaceful location, with excellent access to Lough Corrib
We had a lovely week staying at this cottage, its location is outstanding. We stay in many cottages in Scotland and now Ireland, and found this to be reasonably equipped, however the bedrooms are very basic and the cottage could do with some gentle updating.
The bedroom windows only have small openable ports, which prevent much airflow and one of the ensuite showers flooded due to a blockage, soaking the carpet and rendering the room unusable for most of our stay. The only real concern was that we had to clean both the kitchen and main bathroom on arrival. I hope this was a one off, but the loo had been left apparently uncleaned. Do go and stay, its a great spot, but a little repair and replacement could make this cottage 5*
An absolute gem!!
This house is a true gem. It is a magical spot directly on the lake with gorgeous views from the kitchen and living room that draw you out and indeed every room really. Beautifully appointed with so many lovely touches, there was ample room for our large group to be extremely comfortable. Loved that the kitchen has a big enough table to accommodate us all. We will definitely return again and highly recommend it to all.
Beautiful location in a great place!
We loved this house - it truly was a long house, so that as many rooms as possible could take advantage of the view over Lough Corrib. Although we were a small group, this would have been great for a larger family as there was plenty of space for everyone. Kitchen could have used a few more cooking items (like baking sheets), but we still made some delicious meals with what we had available. Super relaxing and quiet for good sleeping, and tons to do in the area during the day. I hope we will be back!
Spacious Country Living
The Long House was a wonderful place for our family to stay when visiting family. Our five year old son had a great time exploring the house and surrounds. We hope to be able to stay in the Long House again in the future.
This is the perfect place for a family stay. It is a beautiful location and close by to Cong and Ashford Castle. The house is lakefront and very scenic. The home is large and has plenty of bedrooms and bathrooms. The owner and local housekeeper are very attentive. We would definitely stay here again if we had the chance.
