Overview

Utah Cabin Rental Photos and Description

Log Cabin, 4 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 3 Baths, (Sleeps 19-20)

The Mama Bear Cabin is a beautiful log cabin. It is approximately 2,400 square feet and is two stories. There are 4 bedrooms, one of which is dormitory style. It sleeps 20 (19 in beds; 20 max). The main floor has a large great room with large TV, DVD and VCR, well-equipped kitchen, dining area, and laundry room.

The upstairs has three bedrooms total. The master bedroom has its own private bathroom, and the other two bedrooms share a bathroom. There is a bathroom next to the enclosed sunroom (bunkroom) as well.

The Mama Bear is located on Bear Lake Blvd in the heart of Garden City. The property has direct access to the beach via 150 South (this is the Beach Access road that goes directly to the Public Beach).

There are 2 restaurants next door, and 10 more restaurants a few blocks north of the cabin. It is a nice, easy walk.

For smaller or larger groups, see our other listings on VRBO. The Baby Bear Cottage sleeps up to 8. For large family reunions or group functions, the Papa Bear sleeps up to 50. For *really* large groups, you can rent all three cabins as they are all adjacent to each other on 1.25 acres of land.

What makes this cabin unique

We love to walk down to Bear Lake. It's a short 5-10 minute walk. No big roads to cross, just walk across the property and then down 150 south.

This is a great facility.

The housing was really good. We loved the great room for visiting, and that was allowed because of the children's toys that were there. We hadn't packed any, but all of our grandchildren enjoyed getting into the toys. The air conditioning in the upper rooms was lacking, but the lower rooms were very comfortable. The kitchen would be crowded if we had 20 to eat, but the outside tables took up that slack. The fire pit and barbecue were very nice to use. We had to provide our own firewood. The yard play structure for the children was adequate but does lean, leading to a question of safety. I preferred the ramp to the front door, rather than stairs. The wagon at the front door was a plus for getting to the beech and hauling things into the cabin.

The access to the beech isn't far, but I felt bad that deer flies almost devour you as you walk down. That doesn't have any thing to do with the cabin, but traveling south to the public beech beyond Rendezvous resort is really nice and takes no more time.

It was a great experience. There was everything there i hardly had to bring anything besides food. My whole family thought it was such a clean nice place to stay.

Loved the cabin--it was roomy and well furnished.

  • 4 of 5

We held a writer's retreat here and enjoyed it very much. We stayed over in February and loved the quiet and the view. We really enjoyed the large kitchen and living area. I was impressed with the space and would love to come back with family for a large gathering.

The only hitch was that one of our party would have preferred not to climb stairs. While there was a bedroom on the ground floor, the beds in it were modified bunk beds in a closed-in porch that would have worked better for kids. Accessibility is often a challenge in travel but we were able to make it work.

We plan to stay again!

  • 5 of 5

This cabin has a great flow to it as you can access the family room from two directions. Our party of 10 enjoyed it for a Christmas get-a-way. The kitchen has three ovens and a nice fridge, plenty of dishes and pans. Being winter, we didn't use the picnic patio, but look forward to it next summer. We had planned to take advantage of the hot tub, but the weather was soooo cold, we all chickened out! Check in was easy, but it did take the cabin a while to warm up as the thermostat had been turned low. Then we stayed nice and cozy, even on the enclosed sleeping porch. The bunk beds are a bit tricky for adults as they are so close to the ceiling. We wondered if the top bar by the ladder could be cut out for easier access without compromising the structure. Clean and nice, we plan to stay again!!

bunk beds bad

  • 2 of 5

This unit has only two beds (king) and the rest is bunk beds and a couch the folds out to a bed. The top bunks of the bunk beds are so close to the ceiling that they are nearly impossible to get in and out of. One ladder is right next to a wall so you can't use it (need to get on to a small table to attempt to climb into it). A heavy child would find it impossible. We ended up using our own blow up mattresses. This place might be OK for 2 adult couples and 16 small children. Adults that used bottom bunks said they were very uncomfortable.

Great Family Reunion

  • 4 of 5

We had a wonderful time at the Mama Bear Cabin. Our annual family reunion was a great success! The kids all had a great time at the beach. Due to construction in the area we used the beach at the Garden City Park which was only about a block away. Several of the kids chose to walk while parents drove cars to carry chairs, buckets, etc. The beach is perfect for children with a large sandbar that starts at only ankle deep and extended quite a distance into the lake while still being only waist deep. We had daily excursions to the beach and even rented kayaks and paddle boards from a vendor at the beach.

The cabin was perfect, with a well stocked kitchen and plenty of open space for family activities. The kids loved the hot tub! We brought food with us since Garden City lacked any significant grocery stores. There is a moderately sized store that we used for odds and ends. We were pleased that there was plenty of space in the side by side fridge/freezer to store food for our group of 20. We cooked all of our 11 meals at the cabin and had all the supplies and food storage space we needed.

We also took advantage of the local area for additional family activities including hiking and a visit to Minnetonka Cave (note, you need cash to pay for tickets.)

The staff were wonderful and took care of our needs! Thanks, Mama Bear for a great family reunion!
