About the property

Log Cabin, 4 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 3 Baths, (Sleeps 18)

**See pricing for summer 2017 discounted rates**

The Mama Bear Cabin is a beautiful log cabin. It is approximately 2,400 square feet and is two stories. There are 4 bedrooms, one of which is dormitory style. It sleeps 18. The main floor has a large great room with large TV, DVD and VCR, well-equipped kitchen, dining area, and laundry room.

The upstairs has three bedrooms total. The master bedroom has its own private bathroom, and the other two bedrooms share a bathroom. There is a bathroom next to the enclosed sunroom (bunkroom) as well.

The Mama Bear is located on Bear Lake Blvd in the heart of Garden City. The property has direct access to the beach via 150 South (this is the Beach Access road that goes directly to the Public Beach).

There are 2 restaurants next door, and 10 more restaurants a few blocks north of the cabin. It is a nice, easy walk.

For smaller or larger groups, see our other listings on VRBO. The Baby Bear Cottage sleeps up to 8. For large family reunions or group functions, the Papa Bear sleeps up to 50. For *really* large groups, you can rent all three cabins as they are all adjacent to each other on 1.25 acres of land.

What makes this cabin unique

We love to walk down to Bear Lake. It's a short 5-10 minute walk. No big roads to cross, just walk across the property and then down 150 south.

Fun for 3 families

  • 5 of 5

We loved our stay! We had 3 families for our stay and it was comfortable and fit us all. They were great to work with us on what we needed and no one had any complaints. We would definitely stay again.

Loved the property! It was close easy to find and had a lovely large yard.

  • 4 of 5

3-1/2 stars out of five. We loved the hot tub (and thanks for supplying towels), the large gathering room, and we (12 of us) all fit around the dining table! The kitchen was stocked well enough with dishes, pots, pans and cutlery, and we were glad to use the outdoor barbecue. The bathrooms were adequate for our group as well. We also really enjoyed the outdoor chairs to gather and chat on the lawn. And we were glad to have a wagon for the kids!

The only downside was the bed situation. The house sleeps 16 but most of those are bunks which wasn't helpful to couples which was most of our family. Only two of the four couples were able to sleep together. Also, we found mouse droppings in the master bedroom closet upstairs....

But overall, we enjoyed the Mama Bear. Thanks!

(Thank you for a speedy return of our damage deposit as well.)

Owner's Response: Thanks for your feedback. While we have had the floor plans and bed configurations posted from the beginning so there would be no surprises, we recently have had guests complain about the number of bunks. We have added another king bed. Sorry we weren't able to move it in before your stay! :)

Cozy, homey

  • 4 of 5

Comfortable for our size family. Smaller than the photos imply. I think the living room photo on the original website when i booked was actually the living room of the Papa Bear cabin because i thought it would have a fireplace, but i could be mistaken. It just looked so much smaller in reality, but was large enough for our family. The grounds were a bit shabby with weeds around the house especially in the back walking to the hot tub, it would be nice to have a paved pathway so you didn't have to walk in dirt and leaves that track into the house (our bedroom). The bush by the back door is so over grown you have to push branches out of the way just to go down the steps.

We were upset to find that the shuttle to the beach did not run at all while we were there and in fact, the gate was locked so we had to lug everything all the way down to the beach. Many people were upset that came to the gate planning to at least be able to unload and come back to park. Extremely difficult with babies and small children, coolers, and easy-ups!!

Overall we enjoyed each others company of course, but will probably try an easier to access beach next time.

This is a great facility.

  • 4 of 5

The housing was really good. We loved the great room for visiting, and that was allowed because of the children's toys that were there. We hadn't packed any, but all of our grandchildren enjoyed getting into the toys. The air conditioning in the upper rooms was lacking, but the lower rooms were very comfortable. The kitchen would be crowded if we had 20 to eat, but the outside tables took up that slack. The fire pit and barbecue were very nice to use. We had to provide our own firewood. The yard play structure for the children was adequate but does lean, leading to a question of safety. I preferred the ramp to the front door, rather than stairs. The wagon at the front door was a plus for getting to the beech and hauling things into the cabin.

The access to the beech isn't far, but I felt bad that deer flies almost devour you as you walk down. That doesn't have any thing to do with the cabin, but traveling south to the public beech beyond Rendezvous resort is really nice and takes no more time.
