About Marnie Edwards and Michael Carroll

Marnie has been coming to the Vineyard since she was a child. We, both, have lived here year-round since 1970. We have rented our home since 1980. We love the vineyard and all it has to offer and really enjoy sharing this with our tenants.

Marnie Edwards and Michael Carroll purchased this house in 1980

Why Marnie Edwards and Michael Carroll chose Oak Bluffs

We love the peace and quiet of our location and the ability to hop on our bikes to town or the beach and leave our car behind.

What makes this house unique

We love that our home is part of the history of the MV Campground Association. It was, originally, located behind the Wesley Hotel, in town, and moved from their with 6 other homes to Winemack Ave. (only 4 made the trip). We, then, moved our home to its present location in 1980. We love that it carries with it some of the rich history of Oak Bluffs and the Island. It has a charm that many newer homes just do not have.

Quiet Retreat Close to Town

  • 5 of 5

My friend and I have just returned from four nights in this wonderful cottage. Clean, airy, comfortable, nice furnishings. Great fully equipped kitchen. Great bathtub and out door shower. Comfortable beds. The hosts, Marnie and Michael went out of their way to make sure we had what we needed. Very nice people. A short bike ride to Oak Bluffs Center, a little farther to Vinyard Haven. We had no car and biked or took the bus everywhere without a problem. We would definitely return.

Private, beautiful, clean, perfect!

  • 5 of 5

My boyfriend and I stayed here last fall and LOVED the house. The light coming in through the windows, especially in the master bedroom, was beautiful, the kitchen was fully equipped, all of the furniture was comfortable, and the entire house was spotless when we arrived. The outdoor shower was really great and the patio off the master bedroom was luxurious.

It was just the two of us, but there would have been plenty of room for more friends/family. The house is located in a beautiful and private wooded area (quiet!!!), but is extremely close to everything by bike. The owners are fantastic and have done a lot of work on the house themselves.

We had an amazing Vineyard vacation - biking! exploring! beach! food! - and coming back to the house was such a comfort after long days of being out and about. I will definitely be back to this property.

Relaxing Vacation

  • 5 of 5

This property was adorable. It is located not far from the Vineyard Haven ferry and even closer to the Oak Bluffs ferry. The property is down the road from the main tourist area of Oak Bluffs, off a side street. You won't have tourists walking around, but you can easily walk, bike or drive into town or to the beach. The area is quiet (aside from some birds in the woods) and was very relaxing.

The owners Marnie and Michael are extremely nice and accommodating. They returned phone calls and emails promptly and were available to answer questions (even spur of the moment ones about how to cook conch!) when we arrived. We did not feel uncomfortable at all.

The house has a walk in closet in the master bedroom, which was great for hanging our clothing. The bathroom has a big tub, but we were encouraged to use the outdoor shower, which we mainly did. It was a fun treat. Having access to laundry facilities was really handy and we were able to return home with clean clothes.

Nearby Oak Bluffs has a lot of places to eat, shop, and a few beaches. The full kitchen was a great way to save a little money by eating breakfast in most days and packing sandwich lunches. (Here's a tip: swing by the Stop and Shop in Woods Hole to pick up sandwich stuff and other essentials before you hop on the ferry. Groceries are more expensive on the island.)

I hope we can come back to Martha's Vineyard someday and would love to stay in this property again.
