Kapoho House Rental Photos and Description

House, 1 Bedroom, 1 Bath, (Sleeps 2)

HULA COVE is a studio cottage located on a semi private cove at the very end of the famous Kapoho tide pools. The cottage was built in the 1970s so close to the water that no changes can be made to the house's foot print without moving the house back 20 feet from the water's edge. This is as close as one can get to the water's edge without being on a boat!

HULA COVE has since been updated with satellite TV, king sized bed, two folding mattress for children, fresh linens, a full kitchen and Wi-Fi for lap tops. The house is Hawaiiana in feel with a surfboard hanging on the front of the house and Hula girl pictures and objects d'art around the house.

At night under the swish of the ceiling fans you can literally hear the fish jumping outside your sliding glass doors. So if you want to experience the Hawaii you thought disappeared under the Kona or Maui concrete jungle this could be your Hawaiian fantasy. Weekends at the Tidepools can be quite busy in the summer months and holidays , but you will have a chance to meet the locals visiting from other parts of the Island. Weekdays and off season are much quieter and often you'll have the ponds to yourself during the morning and early evening hours.

' Even though we are on vacation and retired I need to conduct business and communicate with the grand kids. Hula Cove was the best place we stayed on our trip. It was well equiped and the access to the tidepools was fantastic! ' James C.

'It isn't the Four Seasons thankfully! Charming Hawaiian bungalow with all that I needed. I loved the peace and quiet. Lots of palm trees clear blue water and tropical fish. When I closed the bamboo gates to the yard the world disappeared and I enjoyed the Hawaii I always dreamed of. ' Dennis M.

Guestbook comments from the owner

I had to send you an email. We love Hula Cove. It is everything we hoped for and more! What a fabulous cottage and location. We are loving every minute. Thank you for all your help and for facilitating our stay here.

I have been snorkelling so much and really it does not get any better than this! I have snorkelled in the Caribbean and it is just as beautiful here. I met a couple of local girls here yesterday just getting into the water and they took me out to the big lagoon with the white sand. It was incredible. Today I went back by myself and enjoyed it again!

Last night we slept to the sound of the frogs and rain - just heaven. I don't have to tell you all about it as you already know.

We love this place and already are talking about coming back!!

Thanks again!

Beautiful Location on the water!

  • 5 of 5

We are locals and came to the other side of the island to celebrate our anniversary and see some lava. Wish we had more time to enjoy the place, it really is beautiful - just as pictured. Right on the tide pools, and it was wonderful looking at that view. Lloyd and Mindy left us a nice note, fresh flowers and wine, very welcoming and made our celebration more special. Perfect cottage for a couple. Thanks we really enjoyed our stay!!

Truely Magical!

  • 5 of 5

Thinking of paradise, then book into Hula Cove! We had a wonderful 2 night stay. We were welcomed with gifts for our 40th wedding anniversary which was really sweet. The house has everything you need and well supplied, just as described. To be able to swim in the pools before breakfast and have them all to yourself is amazing. We were the envy of people visiting the pools. We trekked to the flowing lava at Kalapana one evening and this was awesome. The only downside for us, being from England, was the house was very hot for us only having fans for ventilation, but that should not put you off?

What a place. The charming waterfront retreat is a perfect get away ,recharge ,relax, snorkle, rest, and enjoy. What a great surprise to have a sparkling bottle of wine and beautiful shell lei awaiting to celebrate my wife`s birthday. It does not get any better than this. True Hawaii ,so well appointed, decorated, well supplied. No worries or issues, just bring your clothes, groceries, drink, and personal needs.Of all the places we have stayed in our 30+ trips to the Hawaiian Islands, this is our favorite. It is the best! We were sad to leave(to go to Kona), and can not wait to return in the future.Pure ALOHA

Terrific location and property

  • 5 of 5

We loved your place and only wished we had more days to spend there. Great location if you like out of the way places that are still close enough to services. The locals have found the location, but we found that mornings were very private and it did again quiet down in the early evening when there was still light to snorkel. Best fish viewing around.

A perfect R&R

  • 5 of 5

Before arriving at Hula Cove my husband and I had already spent 2 weeks exploring your beautiful Big Island. We found snorkeling the Tidepools the best on the island - clear, calm water with loads of tropical critters. And right off our front porch. The neighborhood was a real neighborhood - not commercial. That's why we enjoyed it so.

We did venture out to Pahoa for shopping and dining at Kaleos Bar and Grill (delicious by the way). Maku'u Farmers Market near Pahoa on Sunday was even better than Hilo Farmers Market. All the locals from Puna were there selling their wears. Not to be missed: Uncle Robert's ewa Bar Farmers Market, Wednesdays in Kalapana - 5pm-10pm. Hot food vendors, live local music, dancing, people watching. Everyone here on the Island is so friendly. And we can see why. Thank you Mike for being the gracious host. And also Lloyd and Mindy for the clean and tidy cottage.
