Newly renovated STANLEY BARN is a charming place to relax in and EXPLORE the entire Peak District.

With our WELCOME PACK we wish you a warm stay in our gated DETACHED BARN, with split level floors, interesting curved walls and off-street parking.

A set of stone steps lead up to the lobby where you take off your coats and walking boots to find…

… A living room with exposed beams, a WOOD burning stove set in a gritstone FIREPLACE, comfy double bed settees, new Smart TV with DVD, free WIFI, board games and books.

Off from the lobby is the bathroom with brand new enclosed shower and disco PURIFYING ionic shower head, Organic body washes & lotions, HEATED towel rail, washbasin and toilet.

(We use, ORGANIC, FAIRTRADE and 'Earth Friendly ®' products throughout).

Up a few steps from the living room is an open plan kitchen FULLY FITTED with cooker, new microwave, toaster, kettle, coffee maker, washing machine and fridge. We provide fair trade & organic teas & coffes; Plus DAB radio and HIFI with Bluetooth and mini-jack inputs.

Approached up a separate staircase from the kitchen, the main bedroom has a decorative PINE double-bed, ANTIQUE dresser and wardrobe, and en-suite washbasin and toilet.

A second sleeping space ideal for CHILDREN, up a few fun nautical style steps from the kitchen, has two single beds on an elevated open-topped mezzanine floor. One is full size, the other 2ft 6ins by 6ft long.

Our Barn is perfect for a couple or small family - However, with the two double bed settees we would consider larger PARTIES OF EIGHT. Please get in touch.

We also have a LARGE GARDEN with table and chairs for your use.

As mentioned above, there is OFF-STREET parking for two vehicles and PETS are WELCOME.

As a treat we can arrange prior to your stay, a VEG BOX from the local greengrocers...

… Plus our WELCOME PACK, with choice of Fairtrade bottle of wine, organic milk & butter and local bread.

Amazing break

Property was clean and supplied with everything we needed, it was warm and comfortable. Chloe has clearly put a lot of love and care into providing a comfortable experience. The additional effort to make our choccy lab feel welcome was not unnoticed. Would visit again! Thank you so much for making us feel welcome!

Lovely barn conversion in centre of tideswell. Within 2 mins walk of great pubs and restaurant. Lovely walks from the door. Log burner great for chilly evenings. fantastic welcome pack!

Fabulous

A very warm welcome from Chloe, made us feel at home immediately in this lovely little cottage. It is a home from home, clean, comfortable and well equipped. Even a dog bed, bowl and treats for Betty.

Great location for the village and local eateries. Couldn't recommend highly enough.

Lovely cosy cottage and very welcoming host

We all agreed how lovely the cottage was, and Chloe the host couldn't have been more helpful and welcoming. Hugo my dog also had a fantastic time, as there is a big dog proofed garden for him to play in. We all highly recommend this property and are very much looking forward to our next visit :).

Lovely spot

My sister & I stayed in Stanley Barn for a few days last month & it was a perfect location for exploring the delights of Derbyshire. The accommodation was well equipped & very cosy. Lovely to have the toiletries & welcome pack! Chloe was very helpful friendly & welcoming. Would certainly recommend a stay here.

Perfect location

This was the second time our family have stayed at Stanley Barn and we found that the barn and Tideswell village were just as great as on our first trip. The accommodation is really lovely, with our 2 children enjoying there decking level bedroom. Chloe has maintained a high level of cleanliness and her added touches of wine, bread, butter, milk chocolates, and dog treats on arrival were perfect. Another nice touch is having Eco friendly and gorgeous smelling hand soap in the kitchen and bathrooms along with shower gel in the bathroom and a plentiful supply of toilet roll! We were supplied with a large basket of wood for the wood burner which was easily lit every night. We were blessed with some good weather and enjoyed lots of great walks in the area. The village has a lovely bakery where we made daily purchases for our pack lunches and some good cafes (although not all of them allow dogs) and pubs all within easy walking distance. Calling in at The Horse and Jockey after our last days walk, we all had muddy boots and a very muddy dog but we were still made very welcome (they even gave the dog some dog biscuits!) we decided to eat there that evening, the staff were very friendly and the food was great, it was a perfect end to our stay in Tideswell. Thanks again Chloe.

TIDESWELL IS CENTRAL IN THE PEAK DISTRICT, a popular base for accessing all areas of the National Park.

As well as being home to abundant wildlife, plants and birds, the Peak offers a variety of activities including walking, cycling, climbing, horse riding, sight-seeing, gliding of all types, bird-watching, pot-holing, abseiling and much more.

You can walk from the barn door into the limestone dales around the village, and the many gritstone edges and moors are only 10 to 15 minutes’ drive.

Between May-September the local villages have their well-dressing wakes week festivities. There are processions, craft fairs, torchlight parades, brass bands, Morris dancing and a variety of fun runs and other games.

A 10 minute drive to the old Millers Dale Railway Station will connect you with the Monsal walking and cycling trail where you can hire electric bicycles and explore the entire 8.5 mile length of the trail from Wye Dale near Buxton to Coombs Viaduct at Bakewell, following the beautiful valley of the River Wye through some of the Peak District's most spectacular limestone dales.

Tideswell really is a wonderful place to take a well-deserved relaxing break and to explore the Peak District.

Travel:

We are approx. 1hr from Manchester Airport, 1hr 15mins Doncaster Robin Hood Airport and East Midlands airport, 30mins from M1 J29 and 50mins from M6 J17.

Bus services are 250 metres away in the village and railway stations are 6 miles distance to Hope and 8 miles to Buxton.

Distances:

STANLEY BARN is located in a quiet part of the village, only 250 metres from the centre where a good range of shops and services can be found; three pubs, four cafes, mobile bank, ATM, post office, chemist, co-op, gift shop, hairdressers, antiquarian second-hand bookshop, bakers, butchers, deli and greengrocers.

For children, the village has three playgrounds, two tennis courts, football and cricket pitches and a skate park.

We are within 15min drive of stately homes such as Chatsworth House & Haddon Hall; tourist attractions like Matlock Bath, with its Heights of Abraham, various interesting caves at Castleton and Buxton, Carsington Water Sports, Ladybower reservoir with its Dambusters connection; and market towns like Bakewell, Buxton, Glossop and Ashbourne.

Less than 1 hour away is Alton Towers theme park, Crich Tramway Museum and the cities of Sheffield (30mins) and Manchester.

Further Information:

Few minutes’ walk to the George Pub and you’ll find a function room specially equipped with the latest technology where Tideswell Cinema Club show a range features films, and uniquely to the National Park, screen live performances from the National Theatre and Royal Opera House. www.tideswellcinema.com

20 minutes walk to Litton is one of the Peak Districts best kept secrets, The Red Lion, serving excellent home cooked food and local ales.

Other pubs serving good food are The Monsal Head (10mins drive), White Lion in Great Longstone (10mins) The Old Hall at White Hough (20mins), Hathersage Social Club (20mins) and for something more salubrious Hassop Hall (20mins) or quirky The Three Stags Head (5mins) where you may find a floor full of whippets , a back room full of folk muscians & sometimes even a live goshawk ! (open only at the weekend)
