We are Mark and Yvonna a husband and wife team. We moved from the South East just before Xmas 2014 as an 'escape to the country'.
Our cottages are set in a courtyard along with our home, the old farmhouse, so we are nearby to help if any problems arise. We live here with our 2 young boys Ben and Harvey ages 8 and 6.
Mark Ryland purchased this cottage in 2014
We believe we have the largest indoor pool in the whole of North Devon for the number of cottages. You can basically guarantee a private swim every day that you are here.
Our country cottages are set in 6 acres and surrounded by common land, perfect for walking. Whilst being rural our family friendly cottages are not isolated and are less than a mile away from the small market town of Great Torrington with pubs, restaurants, take-aways, supermarket etc.
Close to beach
Large heated indoor pool with changing rooms and sauna
We had a great time. The owners went out of their way to make us welcome. The setting is beautiful and the facilities excellent. Only the wifi was a bit patchy - but who needs wifi with pool, a pool, table tennis and all that countryside. will deffo be back
We had 2 cottages for New Year for myself, hubby and baby and my sisters family including 3 dogs and 2 kids. we had a fab stay and the cottages were like a home away from home and while very helpful the owners were in no way intrusive. we did venture to the beach for a run around but with the fab heated and very warm pool and play room we really had no reason to leave. great stay and would highly reccomend
My family and I hired 4 of the cottages at Hill Farm last weekend. We had a fabulous stay and couldn't have asked for more.
The cottages were well decorated and spotless with excellent amenities. They were perfect for our group of 8 adults and ten children (aged 3-12).
The pool was a huge hit and we spent the majority of our time enjoying it! It had its own changing rooms, shower and drying room which we found incredibly useful with the children.
The farm also has a small collection of animals which the children enjoyed feeding with Mark in the morning. Feeding the pigs and stroking the rabbit were particular highlights for them! We also spent time in the farms play park and games room, enjoying the pool table and table tennis facilities.
The location is fantastic with the town close enough for shopping and takeaways and westward ho! beach close by for a walk.
We were really sad to leave and will definitely look to book again in the near future. Thanks to Mark and Yvonne for making it so wonderful.
We were really struggling to find baby friendly accommodation in close proximity to great beaches and local attractions, that wouldn't break the bank! So Hill Farm was an absolute find. The cottage (Beam Weir) was large yet still had that English cottage feel, with everything you could need for a baby. Nestled in the hills, with the roaming chickens, it makes for a picturesque and relaxing break. On the days we felt adventurous there was lots to do and see, from Instow and Croyde beaches to the Tarka trail. We can't wait to come back and explore some more
The cottage was well presented and the owners on site to welcome us. The milk in the fridge was a great start as a cup of tea was needed after the long drive. The whole set up of the farm cottages is great, very family friendly with cars having to park out of the way, meaning kids were safe. The pool and games room were why we chose the cottage - just in case! As it was the weather was mainly fine, but we made full use of them anyway. A great area for cycling - apart from the fact we had to drive to the start of the cycle path - road too busy for amateurs. One downside was that there was not much choice for food in Great Torrington, and the cottage is not really in walking distance of the town. Perhaps better aimed at families with younger children, with mums who want to/have to cook, rather than our teenagers and a Mum who was on holiday too! But definitely a lovely holiday, with quiet family time and lots of space inside for scrabble and cards..... needs to look at their WiFi tho. Pokémon was near impossible!
Just back from a week stay at Farm Hill Cottages. Having decided on Devon we specifically chose Farm Hill because it has a pool, games room and playground on site, which were perfect for our three year old and our six year old.
The central location of Torrington made an ideal base from which to explore all that Devon has to offer.
All in all a really great holiday.
20 minute drive to Instow or Westward Ho! beaches
Car highly suggested.
1 mile to Torrington
All that Devon has to offer nearby, more than possible to mention.
