Doug Traub purchased this cottage in 2003
This is a unique area of Provincetown. A genuine neighborhood with owners and renters alike comprising the population here. The houses are much more spread apart than downtown or the west end with easy access to the beach. Very family oriented and less congestion. To the south is Cape Cod Bay with gorgeous views of town and sunsets to the west. Truro and Wellfleet are to the east with corresponding beautiful sunrises over the highlands.
This property is just across the street from the Seaweed Cottage (waterfront) located at 5 Garfield St. Both properties (5 & 8 Garfield St.) are rentals and maintained by Doug & Beth. Because the homes are in proximity to each other, they are sometimes rented the same weeks by friends and families.
This house is all you need for an amazing week in the Cape. Our stay here was perfect! The owners are so friendly and helpful without being invasive. Wifi, convenient amenities, a washer and dryer, and room for four cars are some of the perks. The location cannot be beat. It's steps to the beach. It has a front and back deck. The surrounding neighbors are very nice and friendly. You have a view of downtown and the monument from the corner bedroom. The house is airy with tons of windows letting in the ocean breeze. It quickly felt like home. We already want to book again. Ask the owner about the other house he rents too!
Doug and Beth are great hosts and made themselves available to answer all our questions about the cottage. The layout of the cottage is classic "old Cape Cod" and is easy to stay in and maintain. The front deck was great for evening relaxing and the rear deck overlooks the garden in the cottage's double lot with table seating for six. Beach Rose is very family friendly and safe with a path to the beach just across the road. The dead end private streets in this neighborhood have no through traffic creating a quiet and safe place to vacation. The local Shuttle bus let us leave our car behind and get into and out of town every half hour during peak season. We would recommend this property for a casual vacation with easy beach access.
This area is a community unto its own, with owners and visitors alike enjoying a relaxing atmophere, unlike the hustle of Ptown. It consists of cottages and year round homes that have been standing for many years serving as rental homes for the visitors to Ptown. The Beach, however is the major attraction, especially for families with young children who find this an endless treasure trove at low tide. As the children are occupied with finding their way around the sandbars, the adults have time to kick back and keep a watchful eye on them from a "grandstand" seat on the Beach.
