Comfortable, quiet, private.

  • 4 of 5

A lovely modern cottage which is very well fitted out. It was clean and light with great views across the rooftops to the Dales National Park.

The owners have been very considerate in making the cottage, which neighbours their property, feel very private and secluded. It is out of the town centre on a quiet road, surrounded by trees. The cottage is fitted out with everything you need for a comfortable stay, although we would have appreciated a thinner, lighter weight duvet or the option to have a sheet and blanket as it was very warm at night!

The walk into town is lovely, about 10 minutes downhill.....not so easy coming back up the hill but manageable if you are averagely fit.

We would definitely stay again.

excellent week in Richmond

  • 5 of 5

We had a very enjoyable week in the property. My wife particularly enjoyed the outside patio and the views therefrom. Property well laid out and excellent shower room. For two of us plenty of space, good walk into Richmond with plenty taxis available after some excellent meals.Thoroughly recommend property.

An excellent place to stay

  • 5 of 5

An excellent property which is located ideally for touring the Dales and further afield .

Its a short walk into the town which has ample shops to satisfy your requirements for a week away . The hill is a slightly steep but easy climb and you don't feel encroached by the buildings around you .Pleasant and peaceful .

As others have said ,the owners live in the adjoining property and are not intrusive but at the same time easily available if you have any queries ..

Would we stay here again ? .. Quite simply YES . Our family enjoyed the week at Stonegill Cottage and definitely recommend it . .. Many thanks to you Shaun & co.

Super property, very central for exploring the Dales

  • 5 of 5

The property is exactly what you see in the pictures, warm, clean, comfortable and with everything you need for your stay. Shaun the owner just lives next door, was never intrusive but was available if you had any questions.

The property is situated at the top of a steep hill which affords excellent views but may not be suited to the less mobile. Although it is possible to park your car near the bottom of the hill for walks int Richmond., which is a very interesting market town with a castle and lovely walks by the river.

Richmond is a good central base for visiting all the Dales has to offer.

A Great Cottage in an Enjoyable Town

  • 5 of 5

The property was everything that we wanted. It was clean, and had modern shower facilities. The bed was good, and the kitchen had every type of appliance. The close location to the center of Richmond was ideal, but its position on the outer edge of the city meant that it was nice and quiet. You can walk to town center, or park your car just down the Hurgill Road so that the walk is shorter. Yes we would recommend this property to anyone.

Richmond is a great town. We visited from Australia for the Boots and Book Festival, and enjoyed every moment. There are stunning walks out of the town, and it can also be used for a base to discover the beautiful Swaledale valley. A visit to the Bowes Museum at Barnard Castle, along with a show at The Georgian Theater Royal, and a walk to the ruins of Easby Abbey are a must do for your visit.

Lovely cottage in a lovely setting.

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed our autumn stay at this lovely cottage. It is very clean, warm, tastefully renovated and decorated and has an excellent terrace with great views across the valley. It is in a good location for walks around Richmond and into Richmond itself (just 10 minutes away). It is an uphill walk back from town but if that is an issue do what we sometimes did on a couple of occasions which is just park at the bottom of the hill. The owners are friendly and are available if you need anything. We liked the privacy of the place; you have your own entrance and garden area with the great views.

Richmond itself is a lovely town with plenty of pubs, cafes and places to eat. It is easy to visit the dales from Richmond. As we stayed 7 days we also visited Durham and Newcastle by train from nearby Darlington and we spent an afternoon at Catterick races.
