The property was everything that we wanted. It was clean, and had modern shower facilities. The bed was good, and the kitchen had every type of appliance. The close location to the center of Richmond was ideal, but its position on the outer edge of the city meant that it was nice and quiet. You can walk to town center, or park your car just down the Hurgill Road so that the walk is shorter. Yes we would recommend this property to anyone.
Richmond is a great town. We visited from Australia for the Boots and Book Festival, and enjoyed every moment. There are stunning walks out of the town, and it can also be used for a base to discover the beautiful Swaledale valley. A visit to the Bowes Museum at Barnard Castle, along with a show at The Georgian Theater Royal, and a walk to the ruins of Easby Abbey are a must do for your visit.
We really enjoyed our autumn stay at this lovely cottage. It is very clean, warm, tastefully renovated and decorated and has an excellent terrace with great views across the valley. It is in a good location for walks around Richmond and into Richmond itself (just 10 minutes away). It is an uphill walk back from town but if that is an issue do what we sometimes did on a couple of occasions which is just park at the bottom of the hill. The owners are friendly and are available if you need anything. We liked the privacy of the place; you have your own entrance and garden area with the great views.
Richmond itself is a lovely town with plenty of pubs, cafes and places to eat. It is easy to visit the dales from Richmond. As we stayed 7 days we also visited Durham and Newcastle by train from nearby Darlington and we spent an afternoon at Catterick races.
